Hi there, just a question. I just installed your custom bios and clicked preview on my blog. They look great but my only concern is that it looks horrid on the dash, what do you reccomend in terms of making it look normal (like adding a blockquote) or something?

As I said on the post, there isn't much I can do about the dashboard. Its a strict structure that CSS can't overrule. It just comes down to a choice between either blog or dashboard. Whatever you add on the dashboard (blockquotes, extra spaces, etc.) will show up on the blog post and might mess with the current layout. If you want, you could try messing about with it - deleting parts, changing the coding for blockquotes. 

If you don't already, make sure you have a separate blog for promos. For the promos, you can make more suited to the dashboard.

hi, could you make a model fc list for people of color??

To be totally honest, without any specifics, I could be here until next week just writing down names. And I don’t think that would be particularly useful for anyone. So instead I'm going to link you to some (hopefully) helpful resources:

Femme-Homme (Tags Page) - This is pretty much my go-to blog when I need help finding any model FCs. They have images to look through but also an extensive tagging system that helps you narrow things down by race and age.

Fashion Model Directory (Search Page) - If you’re looking for models of a certain nationality/ethnicity this is super useful search page.

Models of Color - Pretty much like the URL says. There are loads of images to looks through but I do admit, they don’t have the most useful tagging system when it comes to looking for FCs.

A short series of tips to help choose and setup a theme for your roleplay. Originally published early 2013, being reposted with new/improved ideas and advice.

1. You are looking for a theme suitable for an RP main. Not a character blog, not a RPC/H/Alphabet blog.

2. Avoid grid themes and stick to 500px posts. You want things to be evenly spaced out and don’t want text to be all squashed together.

3. Try to get a theme that is centred so it'll look good on most screen sizes.

4. Make sure there is a sidebar or header/topbar. You want a clear space where your description/plot and links can be found.

5. Avoid themes that use hovers to reveal important information like the plot or the navigation links. Once you've attracted potential players, the last thing you want to do is lose it because they can't find what they want. If you insist on having hover links at least have some sort of instruction so people will at least know what they have to hover. P.S. Make sure the instruction is not in a description which only shows on hover itself.

6. You will only need six to eight links on the main page. I always hear admins say they need a theme with loads of space for links, but it’s not necessarily true. You do not need to fit all your links on the main page (and would actually advise against it), so have a separate navigation page instead.

7. Don't pick a theme based on colours or graphics you see in the live preview, or the fandoms of the theme maker, or any other irrelevant things that can be changed later on. You also don’t need to pick the “perfect” theme. Things like fonts, headings styles, blockquotes can all be changed with little HTML/CSS knowledge (and I'm sure there are willing helpers if you get stuck).

8. There are themes that are more popular than others but you shouldn't purposely avoid using them; they are popular because they work. However, do make sure you customise it.

9. Never use the default settings. Change the colours, change any images, add your own backgrounds and patterns. Match the theme to your graphics. Make it "yours". Give it some individuality. Have a look through other RP's - especially those of the same genre/fandom - and avoid looking too similar to anyone else.

Hope you don't mind me reblogging this but I wanted to point out a few things. First, this is not a universal code that guarantees all headers/topbars will be fixed. I mean, "position: fixed" will make the header/topbar stationary but it may also mess up the spacing/margins/widths, depending on how the theme is originally coded. Also, just so you know, "margin: auto;" does not work with fixed position elements.

If you want your header to stick to the top of the page (aka a fixed header), locate the css for the header, and copy-paste this in between the brackets:

position:fixed;

top:0px;

margin:auto;

z-index:100000;

That should work. Hope that helps.

i’m seeing rphs grabbing ui kits from free resource websites and they’re posting them here on tumblr as their own resources and i don’t know if that’s okay? i mean, the contents of free resource websites are for personal use, and i suppose using them for roleplaying is personal use — but if you want people to see content outside of tumblr, shouldn’t you just link them to the free resource website? can’t you just link them to the original download link instead of making your own? since these graphic designers make these things for free, it’s sort of common courtesy to click on their download links? (also, to the people who think they wouldn’t get away with it — ur dead wrong, bruh. i know everything)

I am a font hoarder. Photoshop hates me because it takes so much time just to load them. Apart from a handful which I use faithfully, I have no idea what to even do with them all. So here comes a new weekly feature: FONT FRIDAYS.

why don't you rp on tumblr?

Right now, I'm not roleplaying anywhere because of time. It's not that I don't want to roleplay on tumblr - I've been in a few groups (never tried indie, though) - but I just haven't had much chance. It's either nothing interests me, I'm already busy with other commitments, or there have been a number of times when a roleplay has caught me eye but then pretty much died after it's first week. 

I also feel like there are certain freedoms that only forums can give. The inactivity period is less strict, the type of application is less restricted (I personally love freedom app) and just the character creation process is something I'm more familiar with. Also I much prefer the layout and organization that is allowed on forums.

Hey do you know why a page would scroll to the bottom automatically? I made an about page and when I added the submit box the page automatically scrolls to the bottom when you open it. Any ideas?

Without looking at the page, it's impossible for me to tell what's wrong. But if noticed the change after adding the submit box - it's most likely the coding went wrong somewhere there.
