Neoprene rubbers are produced by polymerization of chloroprene. It exhibits good chemical stability and maintains flexibility over a wide temperature range.
Neoprene is used in a wide variety of commercial & Domestic applications, such as laptop sleeves, waterproof clothing, orthopedic braces (wrist, knee, etc.), electrical insulation, gaskets & flooring.
Neoprene foam is used in many applications and is produced in either closed-cell or open-cell form. The burning point of neoprene is around 260 °C.
Neoprene’s hardness ranges from 40-95 Shore A. Its tensile strength is up to 3000 psi and its elongation at break is up to 600%.
