Okay so what you want to do is go download Daggerfall from GOG. It's free and it's an absolutely massive open world RPG that is still unmatched in sheer scope by the later Elder Scrolls games. Now, remember where you installed that game so you'll know where to find it.
Then what you'll want to do is head on over to the Daggerfall Workshop to download Daggerfall Unity. Daggerfall Unity is a port of Daggerfall into the Unity engine which already incorporates some basic quality of life upgrades (like WASD + mouse gameplay, fixing bugs, allowing you to turn off the game's awful "hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor around to simulate swinging" combat system for more sensible click-based combat, you can find this setting in the game's Options menu) but now you also have access to an absolutely massive modding scene. If you want you can pick up some mods that make the game "prettier" but like the game is already beautiful as is

I keep being blown away by the draw distance in Oblivion Remastered
From Aleswell on the north side of the map You can see the Shivering Isles Gate (far right circle) which is located near the bottom of the map.
In OG Oblivion the entire area in yellow lines would be totally treeless at this distance.
All you'd see would be white peaks and brownish green landscape LOD where you know a forest should be seen
Depending on your graphical settings, I found OG Oblivion might not even render this ruin if you were looking at it directly from the Imperial City docks across the water.
20yr gap between games, etc but it's still crazy how good the LOD is in the Remaster.

imagine being éowyn in the lord of the rings trilogy. your uncle the king is being mind controlled by an evil wizard until said evil wizard's cooler version shows up and frees him. he is accompanied by an elf, a dwarf, and the hottest guy you've ever met. the hot guy also happens to be 87 years old and maybe still not over his immortal elf girlfriend but he respects and listens to you so you're shooting your shot. your geriatric hotguy situationship turns you down the night before the biggest battle ever then goes ghost hunting in the mountains. you decide to go to battle because you'll either help save your people or die in a really cool and honorable way. you then kill middle earth satan's number one henchman with the power of loophole and being a woman (you are also helped in doing this by a 4 foot tall stoner). then you get to marry faramir. 10/10 no notes my girl went through it all

the scene where jessica uses the voice to force chani to use her tears to resurrect paul is SO fucking crazy to me. true love's kiss only it doesn't save the day, it destroys everything. the fact that she literally has to cry to bring him back, the way his eyes immediately snap open, her horror and devastation when she realizes he came back changed. it's a fairy tale and it's a fucking nightmare.

Yes, yes, yes!!! Every time I try to roleplay, my dreams are crushed by being treated like a dumb idiot cause my only convo option is asking pointless questions at all times.
Okay so as much as I do hype ESO and try to get people to play it, half of every questing experience (in later dlc especially) is just me yelling at my computer screen that I do in fact know what x and y are, and the game continuing to treat me like I have the worst case of anterograde amnesia ever is insanely frustrating.
Best exemplified by the First Summerset main quest (that you can do immediately after finishing Clockwork City and being told by Sotha Sil there will be a daedric plot in the Summerset Isles) where your Mandatory response to the Ritemaster is "Sotha Sil? What daedric plot? I don't understand."
#please zeni#please bethesda#create some goddamn responses for actuve players#stories are the main strenght of this game#eso
