44. Veil Of Darkness

The episode begins with a bright, sunny morning. The sun shines onto the city. Everyone is enjoying the beautiful day. The morning sun eventually touches Skull Fortress. Inside Skull Fortress, Guts Man, Cut Man, and the other robot masters are still sleeping in their respective "beds". There is a screen in the room where they are sleeping. The screen turns on. The bright light of the screen lights up the room a bit. Dr. Wily appears on it. He yells out to his robots "Attention all robots! Get up! Now!" Some of them do so. All except Guts Man. The now awake robot masters look at each other and think of how to wake up Guts Man. "We better do it quickly!" one of the robot masters says to the other robot masters. They all go over to Guts Man's "bed" which is actually fashioned from a dump truck. They rock the bed violently back and forth. The violent rocking motion wakes Guts Man up. Guts Man gets up. He falls out of his "bed" and onto Proto Man. Proto Man tries to lift the large robot off of himself, but to no avail. Proto Man looks at Cut Man. He yells to him "Don't just stand there, help me out here!" Cut Man replies "Uhhh, okay. Let me see here..." He looks at the situation before him. He grabs one of Guts Man's legs. He tries to lift it up. He tries with all of his might. But alas, he is unable to. Proto Man gets angry. Proto Man yells out "Fine! I'll do it myself!" He tries to lift Guts Man off of himself. Dr. Wily comes back onto the screen. He is clearly flustered. He yells out "Get up! On the double!" Guts Man gets right up. Proto Man says "Finally! You were breaking my back!" Guts Man goes up to the screen. He says to Dr. Wily "Guts Man reportin' fer duty!" Cut Man and Proto Man walk up to the screen. "Us too." Proto Man says to Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily says angrily to his robots "What took you so long to get up!?" Proto man tells him "Guts Man here had some trouble waking up so me and Cut Man-" Dr. Wily cuts him off. He yells "You are all supposed to get up at the same time!" He then changes the subject. He tells them "Meet me in the main lab, as soon as possible!" All of the evil robots run out of the room. We then see Dr. Light's lab.

Inside the lab, Roll is making breakfast. She is using her frying pan attachment to fry some eggs. Dr. Light and Mega Man are seated at the dining room table. They are waiting for Roll. Roll brings their breakfast to the table "Here you go." she says to them. Rush comes up to Roll. Roll looks at him and says to him "I'll get yours in a minute." She goes back to the kitchen. Rush sniffs the air. He heads over to the table. He tries to eat the fried eggs on Dr. Light's plate. Dr. Light yells out to Rush "No Rush!" The plate flips over. The fried eggs land on Rush's eyes. Mega Man laughs at the sight. He comments "Looks like it's sunny side up for you, Rush!" The eggs fall off of Rush's face and onto the floor. Roll says "Don't worry, I'll make some more." Dr. Light is reading the newspaper. Mega Man says "I wonder what Dr. Wily has planned for us today..." Roll says "Better not be something that threatens the whole of humanity." Dr. Light replies "Well, whatever it is, we will stop it..."

Back at Skull Fortress, some robot masters are working on a machine. They put the finishing touches to it. The machine has been completed. Dr. Wily is very pleased with the new machine. The machine resembles a large black umbrella. It is basically a satellite. Dr. Wily says to Dark Man "With this satellite, I will block out the sun and render entire cities and military bases incapacitated, then I will go in and conquer them." Dark man says "Sounds like a good plan. Mega Man won't see you doing that, literally." Dr. Wily says "I sure hope not." He goes over to a large computer. Dr. Wily presses a button. A part of the roof of Skull Fortress open. The machine comes out of it. The machine is launched into the sky. As it reaches the high atmosphere, it unfolds out like a giant umbrella. The device expands some more. It then stops expanding. Dr. Wily is very pleased at the device's power. He gloats "I now have the power to turn day into night! I am basically a god! Mwa ha ha ha ha!" Proto Man looks at Dr. Wily and says with a sarcastic tone in his voice "Yes Dr. Wily, you're the day and night god!" Dr. Wily this time does not take Proto man's sarcastic commentary kindly. He turns to Proto Man and says "You better watch the tongue of yours!" Proto Man says back "Or else what, Wily?" Dr. Wily growls and snaps at him "Or else I'll reprogram you into a Proto Man that keeps his mouth shut and doesn't speak unless spoken to, and when he does speak he does so without any sarcasm!" Proto Man calmly says "You've got a good point there, wily..." He looks back at the monitor. They both observe the satellite. They see that it is blocking out the sun. The resulting shade continues to cover the land. The land soon becomes dark. People and robots start to have trouble seeing in the growing darkness. Some of the people start to panic. One person shouts "What happened to the sun!?" Another person shouts "What's going on?" A part of the world is covered in darkness. People can barely see outside. Some people even bump into each other. Cars drive off of roads. Dogs yowl out of fear.

Back at Dr. Light's lab, the whole place has been darkened. No one can see. Dr. Light turns on the emergency lights. "There, that's better." he says. He goes over to one of the computers in the main lab to find out what is causing the darkness. He sees that the power station has been damaged. He tells Mega Man and Roll to fix the power station. Mega Man and Roll fly out of the lab. Mega Man and Roll go over to the city to find the power station. The city is under the cover of darkness. Mega Man gets off Rush while Roll gets off her hover vehicle. They make their way through the city. They can barely see in the dark. Mega Man accidentally bumps into Roll. She gets knocked down. This upsets Roll. She yells out "Hey! Watch where you're going you big-" Mega Man uses the glow from his plasma cannon to reveal to Roll that it's just him. "Roll! It's just me!" Mega Man says to her. Roll blushes and says "Oh! Sorry, Mega! I though you were just some clumsy random robot!" Mega Man says to her "I think we have a solution to this problem." He looks to Rush. Rush barks. He turns his nose on. They use it as a flashlight. They can find their way to the power station. Rush looks around. He detects someone. It's Shadow Man and Dark Man. Rush growls at them. Mega Man cries out "It's Dark Man and Shadow Man!" Dark Man says to the good robots "We're here to put an end to you!" Shadow Man says "You won't be saving the day!" Mega Man snaps back "Let's see about that!" Mega Man fires his plasma cannon at them both. Dark Man fires his electromagnetic energy. Mega Man manages to avoid it. Shadow Man sneaks behind Mega Man he throws a Shadow Blade at him. Mega Man is hit in the back. He is knocked down. The Shadow Blade is still embedded in his back. Mega Man gets up. He says to Shadow Man "I'm still ticking!" Dark Man comes up behind Mega Man and says to him "But not for long!" He hits him with a burst of electromagnetic energy. The burst badly damages Mega Man. Mega Man falls down onto the ground. He tries to get up, but is unable to. Roll cries out "Mega Man!" Mega Man says to Roll "Get...Eddie..." Roll goes over to Rush. She tells Rush "Get me Eddie!" Rush opens his chest compartment, and Eddie tumbles out. Roll tells Eddie "Mega needs you!" Eddie cannot see where Mega Man is. "Where are you, Mega Man?" Eddie cries out. Mega Man sees that Eddie cannot find him in the darkness. He presses the buttons on his arm cannon. One of them emits a red glow. The button also makes a low beeping sound. Eddie hears the sound and turns around to see the red glow. He blurts out "There you are!" He runs over to the blue bomber. He says to Mega Man "I thought I would never find you!" Mega Man puts out his trembling hand and weakly says "Need...energy..." Eddie opens his top and launches an energy can. Mega Man drinks the energy can. His energy is restored. He gets up. He says to Shadow Man "Wanna try again?" He then turns to Dark Man. "Come on, I can take both of you!" he says to him. Shadow Man hurls a Shadow Blade at Mega Man. Mega Man avoids the blade. He fires his plasma cannon at Shadow Man. Shadow Man gets knocked out by the blast. Dark Man fires some energy. Mega Man dodges it. He fires his cannon. Dark Man is hit. Dark Man uses his weapon again. Mega Man hits him with a fully charged shot and knocks him out. "Way to go, Mega!" Roll cries out to Mega Man. Mega Man says to Roll "Now that's taken care of, let's fix that power station!" They go on over to the power station.

At the power station, they see that Dr. Wily's robots have damaged the power grid. Mega Man goes over to the power grid. Shade Man drops from the ceiling. He says to Mega Man "Greetings, Mega Man, here for your demise?" Mega Man says to Shade Man "No way! Now fly out of here, bat breath!" Shade Man laughs evilly. He says "I don't think so." He fires his Noise Crash at the blue bomber. Mega Man is knocked back by the noise-based weapon. Roll says to Shade Man "Leave him alone you Dracula knock off!" She switches to her toaster attachment. She charges it up. Mega Man sees that Shade Man is about to fire his weapon at Roll. He fires at Shade Man. Roll fires her toaster as well. Both of their projectiles hit Shade Man. Shade Man manages to dodge them. He flies off. Mega Man fires at him. Shade Man flies out of the power station while laughing. Mega Man says to Roll "We'll get him next time." Rush barks. All three of them fly back to the lab. Back at Dr. Light's lab, Mega Man tells Dr. Light that they fixed the power station. Dr. Light tells them that he has found the source of the darkness. He shows them the machine on one of the monitors. He tells them that it is blocking out the sun. He suspects that Dr. Wily is responsible for it. He wants Mega Man and Rush to go up to the satellite and destroy it. He knows that it will be hard to see in the dark, so he is going to upgrade Mega Man's eyes to have night vision.

Back at Skull Fortress, Proto Man, Cut Man, and Guts Man are in the gym. Guts Man is lifting a barbell with two thousand pounds on each side. He is straining with effort. He lifts the barbell high above his head. He accidentally drops it. It lands on his feet. He yells out in pain. Proto Man is using some 200 lb. dumbbells. He laughs at the spectacle and says to Guts Man "You shouldn't really overdo yourself, Gutsy!" Cut Man is using a machine. Cut Man says "Yeah, you don't want to pull something." Guts Man replies "Ah, shut up!" Dr. Wily comes up on the screen. He tells them "Report to the main lab at once!" Guts Man lifts the barbell off of his feet. Proto Man says to him "Come on! You know how much he hates to wait!" All three of them run out of the gym. They enter the main lab. Proto Man says to Dr. Wily "Ehh, what's up, doc?" Dr. Wily growls. He says to Proto Man "I have made more satellites." He presses some buttons. More satellites are launched into the sky. Dr. Wily laughs evilly. He says to his robots "They will cover the military bases in total darkness. I will be unstoppable!" He turns to them and says "Make sure Mega Man doesn't interfere with my plans!" Proto Man says to him "Yes, sir!" He and the other evil robots leave the main lab. Dr. Wily looks at the screen and says "Let's see you try to stop me this time, Mega Man!"

Back at Dr. Light's lab, Mega Man is on the table. Dr. Light works on upgrading Mega Man's eyes. We see through Mega Man's eyes Dr. Light using tools on them. "There! Done!" Dr. Light says. Mega Man now has night vision capabilities. He sits up and looks around with his night vision. "Cool!" Mega Man says. He looks at Rush. Rush is like a deer in the headlights. He is mesmerized by the lights beaming from Mega Man's eyes. Mega Man finds it amusing. Mega Man says to Rush "Pretty mesmerizing, isn't it?" Rush nods slowly. Dr. Light goes up to one of the monitors. He sees that more of the satellites have been launched into the sky. "Oh no!" the scientist cries out "More of those satellites have been launched!" Mega Man and Roll go up to the monitors. Mega Man says "Sufferin' cyborgs! Wily's planning on blocking out the sun!" Roll turns to Mega Man and says to him "That means he could be threatening all of life on Earth!" Dr. Light says to Mega Man "You must destroy those satellites!" Mega Man says "I'll use my night vision to find them!" He looks at Rush. He says to his robotic dog "Come on, Rush, let's bring on the dawn!" Rush barks. He turns into his jet form. Mega Man jumps onto him. They fly out of the lab. They fly through the town. Mega Man says to Rush "Let's try this night vision out." Mega Man activates his night vision. He looks around. He doesn't see Dr. Wily's robots around. Meanwhile, the evil robots are hiding in the bushes waiting to attack him. They look up and see that Mega Man now has night vision. Shadow Man says to Proto Man "Since when does he have night vision?" Proto Man says to the ninja robot master "Dr. Light must have given him an upgrade. This is bad!" Cut Man says "Let's cut him down while he isn't looking!" Suddenly, a light flashes on them. Mega Man has spotted them. "Thought you could ambush me, huh?" Mega Man says to the bad robots. He fires at them. Proto Man fires back at Mega Man. Mega Man says "Sorry, but fighting you guys is not on my agenda!" Mega Man and Rush fly away and up into the sky. Shade Man says to Proto Man "Allow me to deal with them." Shade Man flies after them. Mega Man and Rush are still flying up. He and Rush fly up to the device in Earth's atmosphere. They fly up to the satellite. Mega Man readies his plasma cannon. He is about to fire at it. Rush barks and alerts Mega Man. They see someone flying towards them. Shade Man flies towards them. He lets out a shrill Noise Crash at them. The weapon is too much for Rush to handle. He howls painfully. He begins to revert back to his original form. Mega Man tells Rush "Rush, no! Keep yourself together! Hold it in!" Rush struggles to. Shade Man sees that they are struggling and smiles evilly. He uses his weapon again. Rush and Mega Man are hit again. Rush ends up reverting back to his original form. Mega Man holds onto him for dear life as they plummet to the ground below. Shade Man dives down after them to finish them off. He grabs Mega Man with his feet. Shade Man says to Mega Man "Time to meet your end!" Mega Man looks down at Rush. Rush sees that Mega Man has been caught. He tries again to switch to his jet form. He successfully does. He flies up to Mega Man. Mega Man fires at Shade Man. He then fires at the satellite. The blast destroys the satellite. Shade Man sees the satellite being destroyed. Mega Man breaks free of his grasp and gets onto Rush. He and Rush fly over to the next satellite. Mega Man fires at it. He destroys it. Shade Man says to Mega Man "This is as far as you go." He fires a Noise Crash at Mega Man. The weapon hits Mega Man in the head. Mega Man gets knocked out. Rush cries out "Mega!" He quickly flies him away from Shade Man. They fly back down to Earth. Shade Man laughs while they fly away.

Back at Dr. Light's lab, Mega Man comes to. He apologizes to Dr. Light. He tells him that Shade Man had gotten in their way. He says to him "It was not my finest hour..." Dr. Light replies "I know." A call comes on one of the monitors. Dr. Light presses a button to answer the call. The general is on the monitor. He tells Dr. Light that army bases are being blacked out. Dr. Light tells him he and Mega Man will find a way to destroy the sun-blocking satellites. The call is hung up. Dr. Light turns to Mega Man and says to him "Now I know why he's been launching those satellites. He's trying to disable military bases so he can take over. We must stop him!" Mega Man replies "...and we will!" Back at Skull Fortress, Dr. Wily is launching even more satellites. Dr. Wily says "They will be fumbling around in the dark. Under the cover of darkness, I can disable those bases." He turns to Proto Man and says to him "The world will be mine!" More of the machines are launched. They fly up into the atmosphere. Dr. Wily looks at one of the monitors. He sees that the army bases are being blackened. He chuckles evilly. He looks at Proto Man and says "Now is the time to attack! Get the Skullker ready!" All of the bad robots and Dr. Wily get into the Skullker. The Skullker flies out of the fortress. Meanwhile, Dr. Light is working on a machine. The machine will destroy the satellites. It is yellow in color. He says to Mega Man to launch it into the atmosphere. The emergency alarm sounds. Dr. Light goes up to the large monitor. One of the military bases is being attacked. Dr. Wily's robots are attacking the base. Dr. Light turns to Mega Man. "You must stop them!" he says to the blue robot. Mega Man says "Count on it!" Dr. Light tells him "Don't forget about that machine!" Mega Man quickly grabs the machine. He hoists it onto his back. He gets onto Rush. Rush strains a bit from the weight. They fly out of the lab. They fly over to the military base. They land at the base. Mega Man tells Rush to stay with the machine. He enters the base with his plasma cannon ready.

Inside the base, Dr. Wily has taken control of the command room. The military bots are in shambles. Dr. Wily says "One by one, these bases will fall..." Mega Man runs into the command room. "That's as far as you go, Wily!" Mega Man shouts out. "Mega Man!" Dr. Wily shouts out. Mega Man replies "That's my name, don't wear it out!" Proto Man comes over and aims his plasma cannon at Mega Man and says "I'm gonna wear you out, little bro!" Mega Man snaps back "In your dreams!" He fires at Proto Man. Proto Man dodges the shot. Proto Man fires back. Mega Man does a flip to avoid the shot. He fires a fully charged shot at his brother. Proto Man dodges the blast but ends up being knocked down by it. Dr. Wily presses a button and summons the rest of the evil robots. He tries to leave the room, but Mega Man grabs a hold of him. "Oh no you don't!" Mega Man says. He then says to him "You're busted!" Dr. Wily says "Is that so? Let's see what my robots think of that!" Shade Man, Dark Man, Guts Man, Cut Man, and Shadow Man enter the room. They see that Mega Man has a hold of Dr. Wily. "Let him go!" Dark Man says to Mega Man. Mega Man says to him "What are you going to do about it?" Dark Man says "This!" and fires a bolt of dark electromagnetic energy at the blue bomber. Mega Man is stunned by it, dropping Dr. Wily in the process. Shadow Man and Cut Man hurl their blades at Mega Man. Mega Man catches them in his hands and says "Back to you guys!" as he hurls them back. The blades get embedded into their bodies. Guts Man grabs Mega Man and lift him high up. He throws him into the control panel. Mega Man fires at Guts Man, blasting his square jaw off. Guts Man grabs a large piece of equipment and hurls it at Mega Man. Mega Man avoids the piece and fires again at Guts Man. This time it knocks him out. Mega Man copies his Super Arm. Cut Man and Shadow Man throw their blades again. Mega Man block the blades with his Super Arm. He then fires at Cut Man. Cut Man is knocked out. Mega Man quickly copies his Rolling Cutter. Shadow Man and Dark Man fire their weapons at Mega Man. Mega Man shoots a Rolling Cutter at Shadow Man and cuts him up into parts. Shade Man fires a Noise Crash. Mega Man is stunned by the weapon. He manages to fire another cutter at Dark Man. It cuts off one of Dark Man's arms. Dark Man fires a ball of electromagnetic energy at Mega Man. Mega Man dodges it and cuts Dark Man into parts. Dr. Wily sees that Rush is near the machine. He orders Shade Man and Proto Man to destroy it. Shade Man and Proto Man run outside. Mega Man pursues them. He turns on his night vision. He sees them getting near the machine. He says out loud "Oh no you don't!" He fires his plasma cannon at Shade Man. Shade Man is knocked out. He goes over and copies his Noise Crash weapon. Proto Man says to Mega Man "Sorry bro, but we can't have you interfering with our plans!" Proto Man fires at Mega Man. Mega Man fires the Noise Crash. The shrill sound of the weapon casues Proto Man to cover his ears. Mega Man fires at Proto Man and knocks him out. He then launches the machine into the sky with the help of Rush. He turns on the machine. The machine launches beams at the satellies. The satellites are destroyed. "What a beautiful sight" Mega Man comments. He sees the Skullker fly away. He says to the Skullker "See you next time!" He and Rush return to Dr. Light's lab.

Back at the lab, Dr. Light and his robots watch the sunrise. "Isn't it beautiful?" Roll says. Mega Man replies "Yeah, thanks to that machine we finally brought back the dawn." Rush sees a bird singing ina tree. He barks at it and jumps into the tree. The episode ends with him entangled in the tree.
