i am STILL sick and ended up consuming many different stanley-sergio media and continuing with the bellesco devil wears prada au or whatever just bc I miss nigel and because i can i guess

(+ me yapping under the cut)

in short this is technically a runaway magazine au where Bellini is a stylist and also a higher authority in the fashion publishing company and meets the new (indifferent) assistant from the italian branch, Goffredo and is forced to work with him for a few months

(if you're wondering why I drew Tedesco so calm here is because I based him a bit off of sergio's other character, Arturo, From Il Grande Cocomero + probably mixing up those two personalities)

Bellini despises sneers at his new assistants' more practical and less thought out outfits and with this sentiment decides to give him a hard time adapting in classic Tucci-Character fashion

Aldo BOSSES him around but Tedesco just doesn't budge or does it begrudgingly

well to be honest he just happen to always see him at his worst + his terrible smoking habits absolutely annoys him he needs to ban vapes or cigs from ever reaching the office

Slowly I guess their apathy towards each other becomes so clear they started from talking shit behind each other's backs to insulting each other in the function while EVERYONE watches

They both ARE passionate abt fashion though, which is reason why they always butt-heads sometimes because their tastes are so different (Bellini would NOT trust someone who wears a simple white shirt and outer to work and calls it fashion) but is ALSO reason why they meet in the middle and get along so well

bonus: moments where they get along is only during OVERTIME where no one can see or attest to it bc no one will ever believe these two will ever agree on something

(Tedesco trying his best to distract Bellini from the mission ofc by making him stop at all the good restaurants throughout Italy but Bellini is too stressed out to enjoy it which is why it’s funny to Tedesco)

I was very normal about this movie for so long..... But then I made the mistake of reading fanfics when I was in Italy because idk when in Rome (literally) ig....... Help they were good- The final nail in the coffin was the visual novel- wdym this serious ass movie about gossipy cardinals has a fan made visual novel ???? And it's good ???? This fandom is great and I'm now trapped and no longer normal about these old people (all of them)

harrianthe wedding but Harrow evokes the law of marrying together with the cavalier so she's dragging both Alecto and Gideon with her since she's also never officially released Gideon from her services

Gideon is an unreliable narrator not in the sense that she lies to the reader, but in that she reshapes or obscures her own memories to reinforce her perceptions of herself and especially of Harrow. Like how she maintains the vague impression that she duels Harrow constantly, always just barely missing her shot at an offworld shuttle, but also insists that she’s never hit Harrow before, because if she had then she wouldn’t have been able to stop.

Perhaps she means this in the context of never having sucker-punched Harrow or fought dirty. Whatever violence she has administered has to be noble and justified but also almost chivalrously constrained, the bloody details politely brushed aside, because in her own eyes Gideon has to be the unabashed hero but she also has to convince herself that’s why she’s never really won. She has to believe she would have gotten out of here by now if she was willing to actually really hurt Harrow. And she absolutely cannot explore why she’s never been able to take that fatal step. It’s only once she sees Harrow from the inside that she can admit that their mutual suffering led them to inflict suffering on each other.

The payoff to all this, of course, is the reveal she knocked a ten-year-old Harrow on her ass hard enough that Harrow clawing herself free fundamentally advanced the plot narrative.
