What she needed was the one thing she could never have. What she needed was her parents back. Her father, like Glinda, would know how to handle the people of Oz. The crowds gathered outside the Emerald Palace awaiting her wisdom. He'd charm them just like he once charmed her mother (and every other student at Shiz). And her mother...her mother would know exactly what to do to help them all.
She was not half as good as they were. She knew that.
Thankfully, she had Glinda. Despite the distance between them, her mother had always spoken highly of her friend. Had wished for her and Ozma to meet.
Probably not like this, though.
"How long do you think we can put off my formal presentation? Cause I'd like to delay it a bit longer...."
Glinda nods, sighing heavily. Of course, she knows a thing or two about having to adjust in the Emerald City and sweet Lurline, how she wishes she could just change things for Ozma and make it easier for her.
But, of course, she's learned life is definitely not simple. Not as she once thought it was. But at least, Ozma will have someone to hold her hand during this transition. And she has promised herself to not let her deal with anything alone.
Glinda didn't have anyone like that. Of course, she learned how to benefit and take advantage of the situation quickly enough. She's always had the skill to adjust in any environment and once people started actually truly caring for her, it was easy to get lost in the sentiment and just enjoy being adored.
But that doesn't mean it was easy. Especially in the beginning, when her only companions had been Madam Morrible and The Wizard.
She hopes she can do good for Ozma and give her something, someone better to rely on.
"I get it. Adjusting to life here can be a lot but... I'm here for you, okay? Whatever you need." She offers with a nod and a soft smile.

"Like you met mom? And Auntie Glinda?" Cause if you asked Elphaba, she would say both Fiyero and Glinda changed her life. In multiple ways.
"What if I don't? What if I don't make ANY friends and I'm miserable? Can I come home, then?"
"School, is....I'm suppose to say school is important" at least that's what his parents said. " It can be alot, boring but it is worthy" he paused warm smile on his face. " You might meet someone that changes your life" he was more relax and warm.

@roguishprince sent: "Who did this?"
Could she have cleaned herself up before going to see her father? Yes. Could she have used magic to heal her injuries? Most likely. But that wouldn't have made the same sort of statement, would it? Wouldn't have been nearly as effective in making him see. See what he was condoning.
"Goon squad was a little too enthusiastic," She told him, referring to the Emerald Guard. Technically in place to protect her but who clearly answered to someone else.
"She was caught attempting to climb the garden wall..." One such guard informed Fiyero. "To flee into the city. We, of course, tried to remind her that such actions are unwise and could endanger her royal highness but things....escalated."
Ozma tried to hide her smile at that. Clearly proud of whatever she had done to provoke said guards.

"Visible I can do. Addressing? Not so much." She was perfectly happy to leave that all to Glinda. To let her handle any and all public facing things while she tried to figure out how to fix all the Wizard had broken.
"Just...make sure it's an address to ALL Ozians. Animals too. I want them to know that I am not the Wizard. That We will not rule as he did. Their rights will be restored and I will do all I can to find a spell that will help those transformed by his cruelty."

" oh , convincing anyone of anything is the easy part . " at least that is something glinda is well - practiced in , a professional liar for the ' greater good ' . " how should they know the rules or the outs - and - ins of ruling ? they've never done it either . "
lips press into a tight and thoughtful line , hesitating briefly . " well . . . there will have to be an addressing to all of oz . something relatively brief , and it can be done here , in the city : just transparent enough to soothe any worried minds , but terribly vague of any details , while the palace continues to get its affairs in order . you'll be expected to be present and perfectly visible , of course , but if you aren't ready to speak , you can leave all the addressing to me . "

"Huh..." It shouldn't have surprised here there were secret passages within the Emerald City. Really, nothing about the Emerald City should have surprised her. The Wizard had been a paranoid man from what she understood. Had wanted to place spies throughout Oz. So yeah...it made sense he'd have had ways to move about unseen.
Ways that she could now employ to hide from her own damn bodyguards.
"How'd you know this was here? I didn't know this was here..." And she lived in the palace. Not that she was about to admit that to a stranger...
”You can say that.”
Cyrus gave her a short grin before he looked ahead as they were getting away from the guards. He remembered something that his friend taught him to help him escape. At the end of the alley, Cyrus approached the wall. He opened it up with his hands to reveal a secret tunnel passageway.
“Here, this way.” He gestured her to head this way.

Not at all. But it seems...rude to tell Glinda that. Especially after she's worked so hard to make her feel welcome -- both in the city and the palace.
But she longs for home. For Kiamo Ko. And she misses her parents. Most of her life was spent at her mother's side. It makes every new day the longest she's ever been without her.
"I'm fine. Just....adjusting. It's so different here." So loud and bright. So full of people. All of whom seem to want her attention. Her guidance.
How is she supposed to give guidance to others when she had no idea what she's doing?
for @ruler-of-oz
"I just need a little air."
"Yes, of course, deary."
Glinda nods, getting up from her desk where she had been working on a few things to walk to the young girl and offer her a hand, so she can bring her to the balcony with her.
The Emerald Palace doesn't really feel as cold as it once did anymore. After a couple of years without the Wizard, Glinda started redecorating it and trying her best to make it look more homely now. And ever since the Princess started living with her, it surely feels way less lonely.
Still, she knows it is a lot for Ozma to take. She can't quit fathom what it must be like to find out you're the lost princess of a prophecy or anything like that, but she does know how much of a weight power can be.
And she's Elphaba's. For Glinda, it's almost impossible not to notice, and maybe sometimes she does, but then she will furrow her eyebrows in curiosity, or smile in a certain way or say something and she will once again, see a part of her beloved Elphaba in front of her.
(Sometimes, she sees Fiyero too. But not as often. He's not in her mind as constantly).
The balcony has a table as well as a couple of chairs where they can sit and enjoy the outside air. Glinda settles herself in one of the chairs and waits for Ozma to sit in the other one, crossing her legs and looking up at the girl.
"Are you alright, darling?"

She eyed him, wondering if she could (or even should) trust him. Her mother had trusted him once and look what happened? All of Oz trusted him and he did nothing but lie to them and deceive them.
Still...it was better to know what he was thinking than be left in the dark. "And just what merits are those?"
"That's the thing, isn't it? You come in here, take over where I left off? Yeah. Would seem like I'd have to step down, wouldn't it? Thing is, I never truly wanted all of this in the first place." Oscar sighed, a hand stuck in his pocket and we waved his hand around the room they both were in. He gave a pointed sigh before he turned back to look at Ozma.
"I'm an old man, kid. Old and very tired. Who would want to keep up this facade for that long? Frankly, I'd see it as a liberation. As long as, uh, certain merits were met, of course."

"Really?" She gave her father a look as she stepped up to the mirror, smoothing out her uniform. She did look rather good in the blue and gray. Just like he once had.
"I just don't see why I need to go away to school at all. I'd much rather stay here with you and Mom. Can't she just teach me?"

Stay? It was the last thing Ozma had expected him to offer. Not when she was the one person who could expose him... Expose his lies.
But then that was the problem, wasn't it? She was one person. One girl easily passed off as traumatized. Manipulated by the Witch and her ilk...
That and the man before her was, technically, the last living relative she had. Within Oz. Question was, did he know that?
"Wouldn't my ascending the throne mean giving up your rule? Your control?"
The Wizard gave a slight chuckle, though it wasn't one that came from humor. It was a defensive chuckle, one meant more as an attempt to disarm a conversation than show any real laughter. It was awkward, nearly equally awkward as he in that moment. He hated it. If Oscar Diggs hated anything, it was being pushed into a corner where he saw no escape from, and that could make him more apt to lash out. Hopefully instinct wouldn't take over, as he'd prefer to keep them as casual as he could.
He shifted to curl his fingers into the corners of his mustache, giving it a faint twist. "Ah, right--seems something practically meant for a fairy tale, doesn't it? Could also be a good excuse for you to stay around here for awhile? I mean, I don't see why that couldn't be a spot for you? Coming from that spot, where you were? Good Oz, I'd probably be terrified of who-knows-what. Doesn't have to be that way, though."
