the reason i say the book utilizes curlfeather's background character status in an interesting way is because the viewer did not know who she is or why they should care about her until very recently. it is one thing to take a bg character and suddenly apply a personality and motivation to them that previously had no prior foreshadowing in their previous appearances (cough cough berryheart cough cough), but in curlfeather's case specifically, it works because her relevance hinges on the fact that she had a secret life that only a select few people were ever privy to that no one else, not even her family, would have ever suspected her of having. there is an actual justification for why the reader would never have seen warning signs in the minute appearances she had before. like i said in the other post, no one, not even the reader, knew who she truly was until she was dead. similar to the way we see strangers on the bus and think nothing of who they are, what's happening in their life, the things they've done or could do, the idea of an exceedingly minor character having had a lush inner life that was hitherto inaccessible to the viewer is what really fascinates me. which is also why i prefer to believe that her attempted coup was the culmination of thoughts and feelings she had been having about the world around her for a long time gradually built up from several experiences across the course of her lifetime and didn't just start with the single inciting event of "my husband died i'm evil now" lmao

Clans having only one Medicine Cat minimum is a frankly ridiculous setup. You’re left in a horrible lurch if something happens to them before they train a successor, and it’s directly responsible for the no-kits policy (which is itself fucking dumb because medicine cats will always have other family members besides offspring).

Healer should be a general position that numbers fewer than Warriors but consists of at least three cats with a clear head healer who makes final calls on controversial decisions.

i really hate how the fandom’s excuse for jayfeather’s shitty behavior (and outright medical malpractice in certain cases. looking at the time he refused to help squilf in labour bc he couldnt be bothered and later blamed her for how bad it was) is “well the clan was ableist to him growing up, so fuck them!” ok how does that excuse him screaming at and berating the cats that didnt do any of that. or the babies.

-now the obvious things are behavioral- warrior cats animals (WCAs, if you will) are diurnal. they are (currently) largely monogamous. they think the sisters are weird despite them being the only cats who act like irl cats. but all that's boring that's all xenofiction

However. The Biological Differences

-claws and, i believe; teeth, are reflective. they are Constantly described as glinting or gleaming in light. with this in mind the WCAs claws should be composed of some kind of metallic substance

-a character is, as far as i'm aware, only ever mentioned to lose a claw once, and this is considered significant enough of an occurance to be a sign from god. cats claws just fall out very frequently, i have half a dozen in my carpet

-they can shrug their shoulders

-they have a much stronger sense of taste

-they have no aversion to standing water

-toms are never indicated to grow large cheeks

-they require assistance in birth. cats will walk around with babies falling out and they don't even care

-they are so large

you will notice ravenpaws head comes up to the cows chest

as you can see. cats are far smaller than the intimidating warrior cats animal

tldr: not cats.
