Hi just wondering if you could be able to make your hatchling calculator able to be accessed on mobile? If it is, then I'm having troubling going on the site bc of bad gateway problems apparently

I'm on indefinite hiatus from Flight Rising and I stopped maintaining the hatchling calculator a long time ago. However, someone else put together a similar tool here:

It looks like it was last updated a year ago, but it's still much more up to date than mine was.

I saved up and bought a Phantom gene for one of my geneing projects

And when I went to my hoard to use it... I discovered that I had two Phantom genes.  I must have gotten one from the Coli without noticing.  AUGH

These are my geneing projects (the first three are G1s and the second three are mates for existing dragons) that I still need a combined total of more than 9000 gems for, and this is a callout post for me, because I am incapable of scrying dream dragons that don’t have at least one gem gene, apparently

I completed one of my two Gaoler pairs and now I’ve got two male Gaolers hatchies for sale!  Both are Tapir/Hex/Wintercoat.  The Gold/Buttercup/Maize boy is 550g and the Lemon/Sand/Antique boy is 450g.

Ahhhhh I love Gaolers??? The announcement of Ancient Breeds was what made me come back to the site after a 10-month hiatus (that and lair tabs; I’ve always wanted to ruthlessly organize my dragons).  These are the two pairs I’m planning so far from my existing dragons!  The top two are G1s and right now they’re Nocturnes with Gembond, but honestly Gaolers with Shardflank fits my conception of them waaaay better.

Unfortunately I do not have the attention span for sitting on the Marketplace and I still haven’t been able to snipe any Shardflanks, Jaguars, or Wintercoats :(  Oh well, I’m sure it’ll be come easier as time goes on and other people get them for their own projects.

When you’re trying to breed several dream dragons that all have rare/unpopular colors and so most of the active dragons on the site with colors anywhere close are G1s....

I hatched my first rare eye type dragon! I‘m SO GLAD he was from one of my pretty breeding pairs with matching eyes instead of random fodder.  All thoses yellow eyes actually look pretty good on him!

Spending too goddamn much dragon money: A Journey

Time to spend an obscene number of gems purchasing and geneing this pair of G1s:

Perfect!  Beautiful! I love them!  But... it sure would be nice if the Fae had a gem secondary so their hatchlings might have Butterfly, and not all of the Spinner colors work with the Royal primary on their hatchlings.  Hm....

Now that’s nice.  I like that.  Alright, I just have to save up for one Bee scroll, not too hard.  But... y’know, I already have Plentiful, Common, and Limited G1 pairs.  I wonder if these guys would look good as Skydancers or rare breeds?

I made this post 2 years ago and never thought it would actually happen.  Thank you, FR staff.  I still think it would be neat if a dragon with a rare eye type had a larger chance of producing offspring with that eye type, but I still like this development.

I want mutations in FR so bad.  I do like the simplicity and predictability of the breeding system, since it allows for much nicer looking pets on the whole, but it would make things a lot more interesting to have some unpredictability.

I’d envision mutations as small things that wouldn’t interfere with apparel and would involve minimum lineart changes - like an extra set of horns, or no horns. They would occur in G1s or hatchlings from nonmutant parents very rarely (say 1 in 10,000).  Breeding a mutant and nonmutant dragon together would give you a much higher (though still low) chance of getting that mutation - 1 in 100 maybe - and breeding two mutant dragons together would give you perhaps a 5 in 100 chance.

It would make certain kinds of dragons permanently much more valuable, which I really like the idea of, since currently all dragons are more or less worthless except for G1s and ones with new genes shortly after they’re released.  And anyone in the game would have a chance of striking gold and getting a mutant, albeit a small chance.  It would also probably be really hard to find or breed for mutants that actually had nice colors, which would add a big element of challenge that I would really like.

I was in need of dragon therapy, so when I found this girl in the AH for 500g as an Imp with Crystal/Shimmer/Underbelly, I immediately blew most of my gems to turn her into the dream eyeburner I’ve wanted since the colorwheel updated.

This was deeply satisfying.

FR Tumblr, I need geneing advice

I finally got a good G1 mate for my rocky Noc Lazuli, and ideally I’d like to gene them like so:

But Giraffe and Hex look weird on some of the color options their offspring will have (at least in terms of maintaining the rocky look):

I’d also consider Rip/Cur or Rip/Hex for the male (since the one weird-looking Hex color will only apply to a third of their hatchlings, and it doesn’t look that bad), which still look okay, but I don’t like either of them much as Gir/Hex:

I do want them to have different genes, which is why I’m not considering Speckle or Freckle for the male.  I’m leaning towards Rip/Hex for the male, but I’m still pretty torn.  Any opinions?

I have engineered the perfect avatar!  He’s elegant and kind of badass, but also just slightly nerdy, and most importantly, beautiful!  I like Steampunk, and the colors of the skin and apparel coordinate perfectly.
