When I got to Waterfall while playing Undertale, this section of your map immediately popped into my head. Still my favourite area in the game. I bet you were giddy as anything when you saw it yourself!

My Green Hill V3 map is a great temporary substitute for the waterfall area in Undertale.

Oh, uhhh. Well I moved to the trailer but only for a while to help set up. I broke it to mom that I just can’t live in a cramped place like that with no way to get to town or do anything, which was pretty arduous.

Wanted to move in with my aunt but I ended up here at my grandparents’ in a spare room instead in early December, (I say “room” lightly, It has an open wall over the living room and a glass door and a slanted roof I have to be careful not to hit my head on). Not much space here either, but because of clutter instead. I’m laying on a sleeping bad because there’s no room for a bed. Gonna try to fit my old desk back in here because the one I’m using is tiny and uncomfortable as hell, and I’m stuck with using an armchair that sits way too low, not that I’ve ever had a proper computer chair. Nothing is ergonomic in the slightest.

Good thing is that I have regular meals here and a proper place to bathe. I’m paying for my own internet too now and I gotta start making some money to help out.

I just miss my old room and privacy and quiet so much, but that’s not coming back so I have to deal.

Meet Scraps. He’s a character I came up with in High School for a game that never saw the light of day.

Earlier this year I contacted the people I worked with and they gave me permission to have full ownership of the character.

I was going to wait to post about him until the short was closer to being made but I got excited about showing you guys another one of my original creations.

His antenna has jigglebones.

I’m still waiting for a bunch of 1s and 0s to fly out of my screen when I look at this. And dat filesize, it’s overkill just how I like it. :D

Behold, my loyal followers, my successful attempt to create a completely custom high resolution full hdr skybox rendered from 3D geometry in cycles and brought into the Source Engine.

Each texture is a massive 2048x2048, 48~mb uncompressed to prevent pixelization when zoomed in to more cinematic angles.

Because of the size of these files, windows explorer crashed several times during the saving and compiling, turning this into an all day project. Totally worth it though.

While I don’t plan on always making environments quite as surreal as this one, it’s nice that I have the option to do so in such high quality and it will definitely come in handy in my future original animation projects.

5 years already? Sheesh, that was fast. That aside, I hope it thrives for a very long time to come, a channel crafted out of this much love definitely deserves it. :D

On August 1st 2010 I launched my YouTube channel Balena Productions.

Coming off of two lesser known channels (sonicdude3 and sonicd00d3), I wanted to create something a little more than just an average channel with a pretty lame name. I wanted to make something that sounded good and was better to present than just a personal YouTube page. Through these many years I’ve had my ups and downs, praise and criticisms, met many new people in which some are now some of my best friends, and personally has been one big adventure.

I just wanted to thank all 270,000 of my subscribers, 150,000,000 viewers, my fans, my friends, and everyone who makes my channel the great place it is.

I know currently I’m not pumping out content, but I can say that I’m nowhere near done. I’d like to entertain as long as I can. It’s in my blood and it’s the only thing I want to do with my life. Maybe not animations for the rest of it, but I can promise you as long as I live and breathe I’ll always be around in some way or another.

How come you got around 140 million views combined on your videos, yet you only have about 260 thousand subscribers?

Because Sonic.

People see my videos, click em, dislike em, and move on.

People who stay are Sonic fans.

I really dug myself a deep hole with my content.

So the owner took us to look at the place and it was a total disaster.

The guy that was living there (a carpenter of all things that was supposed to fix it up) let it deteriorate for 10 years. It got to a point where he was too lazy to even pay the ludicrously low rent and when the owner finally told him he had to be out, he just up and left. Everything was still there, dishes still in the sink, dirty laundry hanging in the living room, an animal in a cage upstairs that probably died from neglect, the works.

The owner was totally devastated because the place used to be his family vacation retreat, it was the first time he got to see it in ages. It'll cost thousands to clean up and repair, renovations galore. He doesn’t even know what to do now.

Even if it was in original condition, it’s only about 1/3 of the size of our current place, so my mom isn’t sure what to do now because she still really wants to make it work (whywhywhywhy). We’ve been looking for other places cheap enough to rent in the meantime, but there’s almost nothing in our budget. So she basically went “fuck it” and dug into her emergency money (aka “retirement fund”, only a few thousand dollars, the last value of anything she has to her name) to pay for another month of rent here.

So, yeah, sorry for the hiatus. I haven’t left yet, but I might be leaving around the end of the month again, I’ll see how things go.

Well, this was unexpected.

My stepdad lost his job a week or two ago that was only barely keeping us afloat, so we need to move.

Now my mom found an opportunity to do what she’s always wanted to do, finding a cabin to move to in the middle of nowhere for really cheap.

And she found a real steal. It’s a “caretaker” position on 160 acres of forest where you get rent for $400/mo as long as you fix it up and do farm labour. (Because a graphics artist is useful for heavy labour.) It’s 3 hours away from the town I’ve lived my whole life in, 20 minutes from the nearest rest stop, and completely amputated from the rest of the world. And I mean amputated. You need a 4x4 just to drive to it.

It has it’s own power, water, and heating. Oh, and another thing:

No internet. No phone lines. No cell phone reception.

We have a week to move, so I guess this is goodbye for the forseeable future unless we get some kind of satellite connection eventually. Everyone else gets “permanent vacation” while I get to be further isolated from everything I wanted to do with my life.

Someone kill me before I do.
