Rusty was happy to see that the diesel actually seemed interested in his story. He knew he tended to ramble when he was talking about something, but it didn’t seem to bother the other one at all. He couldn’t help but smile at him. The steamer laughed and replied: “I didn’t know before I tried it out either! … And I could probably still learn a lot from Dinah.” He wasn’t entirely sure how to react to Greaseball talking about his ex girlfriend but she was Rusty’s friend so it shouldn’t be a problem, he decided. For a moment Rusty was thinking about asking Greaseball if he liked cooking too, but considering what he had just said, he decided that question was unnecessary. But there had to be other things he guessed. “So… what else do you like doing, when you’re not racing?”, he asked and tried to sound casual. What kind of cliché question was that? Oh dear Starlight. The steamer took another sip from his drink. He should probably watch out to not drink too much just because he was feeling awkward. After all this was actually a nice situation. Sharing this blanket at such a nice place with Greaseball, talking about all sorts of things.

Almost a week had passed. A week since he and Greaseball had spent the night together. Just thinking back to it made Rusty shiver. Back then, they had continued to kiss and caress each other, whispering sweet and hot things to each other. In the very early morning hours they had agreed that it would be best if Rusty left before everyone else woke up. They said goodbye with a kiss and lingered at the doorsill for a moment, before the steamer drove off. Rusty shook his head and looked up at the sun. It was already beginning to set and his shift would soon be over. He just couldn’t get the diesel out of his head. GB and him had been looking at each other throughout the whole week. They weren’t talking and almost avoiding each other, but there were still the looks. And Rusty could sense something in them – a desire, a tension. He could swear that something was sparking between them but of course they couldn’t show that in public. Rusty’s breath hitched when the diesel drove past him all of a sudden. He looked up in a surprise and their gazes met. Oh Starlight, he couldn’t take it much longer. The steamer put off his hat and ran one hand through his hair. Deciding that he needed a moment for himself, he turned into a small alley where he found a hidden corner. Sighing in relief he leaned against the wall and laid one hand on his chest. It was beyond comprehension for him how the diesel could make him feel that way. Rusty wasn’t able to entitle those feelings exactly, there were too many of them. It was all very confusing and frustrating for the steamer. But also exciting and thrilling. He looked down at the ground, fiddling with the hat in his hands, while he was once again thinking about how to get closer to Greaseball again. Maybe he could drive by his house again and they would “accidentally” meet at that shed again. Or he could just ask him. Which seemed very silly. Rusty suddenly heard a noise and quickly looked up. Had someone followed him here? Or was it just a mouse? He looked around in confusion, before quietly asking: “Hello?” The steamer shook his head. It was probably nothing.

He was relieved that his cooking was to the other one’s liking. After all maybe he would end up cooking more often for both of them in the future… depending on where all of this would lead. “Oh, thank you! Dustin and I eventually started cooking for the rest of us because we wanted to try it out. And then we did it more often as we actually enjoyed it.”, the steamer explained and chuckled a bit as he reminisced about old times before adding: “The others fell victims to out trial and error.
