Taeri had to remind herself to practice patience, that she was grateful of the things that came to her and the band, and that they likely didn’t lose her guitar on purpose. That didn’t change the fact that it was lost, but losing her temper wasn’t going to fix anything. “I’m pretty sure. The others’ stuff was on there. I’m not sure why mine--” She stopped herself, taking a deep breath. “Could you please check with him?”

“i’m sorry, dude. that was the last thing that was on the truck,” casey said, carefully putting down the amp he’d been hauling and wiping his hands on his pants. “are you sure it was supposed to be on this truck? because if it was, i might be able to call back to my buddy in shipping– he might be able to track it down…”

“oh my gosh, i didn’t even think of that! imagine if we get invited to perform at an awards show. like real rockstars. this is crazy…” the young girl gushed, trying hard not to beam. “you know what i really want to do? that show where you get to compete in the olympics, but with other idols! i want to learn how to do archery…”

“I think we’ve got to work up to that one, still. But we’re gonna get there,” Taeri said with a small smile. “If we ever do go on that show I’ll be hiding under the bleachers again.”

“You’re right, this is super cringe,” Taeri said, raising a brow as she listened to the other. “She isn’t, that I know of anyway. But if your interested, you should probably ask her yourself, you know?”

“okay, this is gonna be super cringe but…. you’re in dain’s group, right?” chunja began, blushing slightly. “what… is she dating anyone, by chance? and um….. if not uh…. and she hypothetically wanted to…. what uh team does she swing for?” @rvtaeri​

“that makes sense… i was just curious because…. well, i’ve had a couple of on-screen matches, but i’m still pretty new. none of my matches have had entrance music yet– i’ve just been enhancement talent. but at some point i’m going to be able to be a real performer, and i’ve been thinking about entrance music, and i really love your songs. i’d love to come out to something by you guys….” she mused

“That sounds like a pretty badass promo... I can see if I can float the idea to management or something. I don’t know it’ll work... but I think it’d be cool, if they let us.”

“i’m excited to hear them,” serika answered, and though her voice was a little soft, she meant it. the way people talked about blacklist in the building…. riki knew they were going to be good. and liberty needed a real girl band. “it’s really cool you guys got signed and all.”

“I’m excited to get them all out there, honestly. Out in front of more people,” Taeri responded. “It feels so wild to get to do this, for real.”

“maybe we were ready to go to be a band, but we need tweaks to be an idol band,” taeha mused, resting her head on her sister’s shoulder. “i’m excited to meet fans! do you think that we’ll ever get to go on shows like weekly idol? i’d get to be in the same room that aj was in… on the same show….”

“Mmh,” she grumbled a bit. She knew they were working toward something, but she was a little annoyed at how long it was taking. “I’m excited to see fans too... it’ll probably a better crowd than at the bars. Maybe if we’re lucky they’ll send us on... I think I remember seeing Journey on one of those shows.”

“koreans saw mtv tmz paparazzo culture, and decided that they didn’t get enough of a look into our lives, so pushed for more,” seola grumbled bluntly. “when they stay in their lane and stick to documenting comebacks, they’re fine. but they rarely stay in their lane.”

“It’s kind of annoying. Like... I’m sorry, but I don’t need to hear about some singer’s love life or some boy group member being a dickhead. That kind of shit should be left at the door.”

“do you think i’m going to get in trouble?” dain said, trying to bite back any overt laughter. it was their first real music show stage, and instead of just following along with the recording, dain had improvised a big vocal run at the start of the song. if they were going to disguise her vocals to make them ~perfect~, she was going to make sure everyone knew she could actually sing. “i don’t know music show etiquette. are the mnet mafia coming for me now?” @rvtaeri​

"Why would you get in trouble? You were just saving their ratings, you know? Giving the people a viral moment to latch onto,” Taeri laughed. Honestly, after going on music shows, she was beginning to understand why they didn’t have good ratings. Everything was so smoothed over, it was boring. “If they come for you, it has to be because they’re scared more people will break their rules.”

“yeah… but himari says the cheesiness is part of the appeal. she says its like anime but in real life so…. i guess maybe if i keep at it i can ignore how cringe it is,” she sighed. “oh! wait– i had a question for you and your group– how in control are you of your song licensing?”

“Makes sense,” Taeri said, then shrugging. “I’m not actually sure, we haven’t had any discussions on licensing out our stuff for anything yet... but I’m sure Liberty wouldn’t be against it for the right stuff, you know?”

“whatever. you guys getting to debut when harin’s been waiting and working for years reflects bad too,” she grumbled, rolling her eyes.

"Okay? We've been working for years, too. And everyone in our group was ready for debut. Not everyone in Harin's group is, though. A drummer needs a band, it’s not like they could debut her by herself."

“you know, i’ve been kind of good at that! the trainer said i had good energy the other day!” taeha said brightly, grinning. “it’s weird having trainers critique my drumming, though. like…. i thought i was pretty good, but apparently i have a lot to learn….”

“At least one of us is getting the hang of it, I guess," Taeri snorted. "I get the media stuff, but the rest of the training... I thought that we were ready to go, and that’s why they signed us."

“Not sure.... but honestly, I’m still trying to understand what the whole point of dispatch even is,” Taeri responded.

“i don’t know what dispatch fuckin expected,” seola snorted. “my last song before this release was about sex. like, explicitly. you really think that if i want to make that kind of music i can go on the music show circuit? not a fuckin chance.”

“i mean, they’re not super substantial over there anyway. but that’s totally not the point,” liyang insisted. “i’m in a chinese unit, but it’s still a kpop group. and the market is saturated enough as is– creed and unity getting a leg up on everyone through mnet just feels cheap.”

“They saw an opportunity and they ran after it, most people would do the same,” Taeri said. “What’s done is done, though. Complaining openly about how they got successful isn’t going to change anything for you.  it reflects badly on you, if anything.“

“Thanks...” Taeri said, trailing off. She feels a little bad about how things shook out for Diadem. Not enough to want to leave or anything, but... definitely enough to feel incredibly awkward. Or, more than she already would be, around anyone outside of her little bubble of people. “We have a couple demos... I think we’re recording those first.”

“i’m really excited to see you guys debut,” serika said, and she actually meant it, unlike some of the other diadem members. serika herself was terrified to debut. she definitely wasn’t ready. blacklist being signed meant they were a buffer, and she had more time to prepare. “do you have a new song you’re debuting with, or are you re-recording one of your old songs?” @rvtaeri​ @rvxtaeha​

“i guess, but the names they pick are just so cheesy! i can’t take them seriously!” she insisted. it was the hardest part of her transition into being a wrestler.

“It’s got to make it difficult to make it convincing, I’d imagine.”

“It is weird,” Taeri agreed with her sister. “Media training sucks ass, but I guess they need a certain cleanness so it doesn’t piss off investors.”

“i know it’s super cool we got to sign with liberty, but this all is just weird,” taeha told her sister, rubbing dirt off the side of her nose. “like….we do we have to train? we’ve been a band for three years already…” @rvtaeri​

Joohye blinks for a moment, the other’s tone catching her a bit off guard, “n-no it’s not that I don’t want to eat it s’just…”  Her sentence trails off, “I was just scared i’d not like it and get sick… sorry..” words trail into a mumble before she shoves the food in her mouth silently; maybe she should’ve just sat and ate her food quietly, instead of possibly irritating the other.

Okay, maybe she came off a little too rough there. It wasn’t like the other was being openly malicious or anything. “No big deal,” Taeri said, sighing a little. “Just like... as a rule of thumb, I don’t think a lot of people appreciate strangers to ask them to eat something strange out of nowhere.”
