Genre Analysis Reflection

Focusing and researching on the internet for my genre analysis made me realize the differences in opinions on my topic and their audiences. My topic pertains to the question, should welfare recipients be drug tested? The different perspectives really focus on one specific emotion or point and expanded on that. It was a little difficult finding a genre that met in the middle of 'yes' or 'no'. The genres were either liberal oriented or conservative, invasion of privacy or anti-drugs. I believe these stances will make writing my final paper easier because my topic is not as open ended or complex. Some people that do not receive welfare or administer the tests believe that they 'don't wanna pay for no dang druggie to do them weeds' and the others believe that people who test positive for welfare and get it taken away only drives the recipient deeper into a vicious cycle, perpetuating the problem that those people need help with. Of course the topic impacts other parties, but i found that most perspectives among them are polarized.
