A Stormy Refuge

Thunder sounds outside of the Pokemon center that Dai has taken refuge in, causing his Torchic to cower away from the door.

The boy glances back at the small fire-bird, a small frown on his face. “Hey…. Flare Jr… You’re okay.” He flips his necklace around, so the crystal is against his back, kneeling down. “The storm will pass, and then we can keep moving….”

Digging through his bag, he pulls a berry out, feeding it to the tiny torchic. He was always a fan of the runts, since that was what he was.

Standing back up, he looks around at the other trainers in the Center- Some, searching for shelter, others, merely stopping for healing.

A few catch his eye, but not long enough for him to care. Except one, honestly.

The trainer lets out a sigh, snatching up his Torchic and holding it in front of him, cringing as the little pokemon pecks at his hands. “This little bugger is certainly fighting a battle against my poor head, and he’s certainly winning. I wish he wouldn’t, though.” He crouches down, placing Flare Jr. on the ground. “Stay.”

Rubbing at his head, Dai nods. “Yeah, I bet. Champion now, that’s certain to be chaotic! You’ve been busy for sure.”

“A shirt that tells evildoers that my team and I can and will yeet them into the ground, obviously.” The fire type trainer shrugs, laughing. “Come on, it can’t possibly be THAT bad, can it?”

Flare Jr has since climbed on Dai’s shoulder, pecking at his sleeves. “Tor tor torchic tor!” It chirps, agreeing with AJ. That shirt is too much, man.

“Speaking from a former coordinators point of view, it’s… a lil bad. Making my hair stand on end.” Or maybe that was just her electricity going haywire from all the excitement. Well, his shirt will definitely tell the evildoers something. 

She giggled, “Your hair though? Definitely not bad. Love the new haircut. But enough about aesthetics,” before he starts ragging on her own, “How’ve you been? Taking it easy lately?” She asked, as Plus hopped up to lounge on her shoulder.
