As I mentioned in my previous posts, "writing does not exist without graphic design." When writing a paragraph or even words, choosing different fonts and type styles changes the whole meaning of the words or what the author is trying to say. Changing the color, font size, font style and family style, placement and other style play a big role of displaying and showing what the paragraph or what the text is talking about. Also graphic design is important to text or to writing because as it is said in the book it "determine emphasis and can allow the reader to have multiple pathways through a text." With no design to built a layout and picture to the text, the text itself wont explain much in an emotional way, after all fonts can exhibit many feelings and kind.

I feel like their childhood was mostly Loki coming up with crazy, convoluted plans while Thor just grew bored and impatient.

"Activist design authorship is greater than the sum of its parts — graphic design, writing, image-making and self-publishing — when it is engaged in social and political change."

Some designers who created the political convictions public through activist design authorship are Schneider and Fairey. He was able to exhibit design authorship by showing it through specifically in his poster "Hope" which is the one of Obama. It was for the President Elections. Its (the poster) simplicity was able to show and convey the idea, image, message and audience.
The Death of the Author (as Producer), John Stopford writes, “In the age of commodity aesthetics, nothing is more urgent than a political conception that can also appeal to and hence organize the anonymous alienation of the modern sensibility.”
This quoted sentence can go well with the poster Fairey created of Obama that has the word "Hope.  Whether hope is surpassed and acquires the distorted meaning and commodity status of the Che icon remains to be seen and obvious to the audience.

"All art is useless."
- OSCAR WILDE, THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, 1890-
This quote suggests two main points which are:
1. Art has no function.
What was meant by the first point is that design in this world started to show fewer needs but sow more and big wants and desires along with getting the customer or the buyer debt. As the book puts it " The function of much design now is to lubricate the exchange of currency, not to provide affordable housing, healthy foods, etc." The design is sealed when it goes outside the store which means when the customer buys it and not its uses and " its discarded state."
2. If art has value in the face of not being useful might mean that it is superfluous.
Which means The absurdity lies between the the pressure and craziness between the ideas. After all design is meant to be useful to exhibit an idea and gives a value to the user which is the designer after all design has nothing to do with what the viewer or the person wants to see and what he wants to see, it's all for the designer himself.

About the book "The Cheese Monkeys" (as mentioned in the book designer as copyright):
The book counters publication design conventions with devices that surely express Kidd’s desire to break the traditional rules of his professional work.
In Kidd's book he has the design in the fore-edges of the text block making it go to the front matter across nine pages. We see him splitting the title in the spread diving it into half and he also creates the text or the letters on the corner of the book. Not only that but he also used only two specific fonts to define the moods of each page of the book. He used this technique of using different fonts and its style as italic bold and so on so that he could create emphasis.
Also so he could accomplish of "black text becomes screened to light gray to ‘fade’ the speaker’s voice.

Normally, when we say "author" our minds defines it as a person who writes a book, or an article or even a report. However, over 40 years ago the word "author" meant an originator or someone who organizes and/ or creates something and it can be a plan, or a design, or even an IDEA.
For designers to become authors/authorships is a difficult task. it requires the designer to approach the design in a traditional aspect within a professional way, and not follow the regular tackle of communication, that is, creating a design for a specific topic and send/ create a message for it.
It requires a legitimate strategies and authorial inspirations which creates a protection for the design and its objectives.

Today is #SpiritDay.
Did you know 82% of students report being verbally harassed in school because of their sexual orientation?
Did you know 64% of students report being verbally harassed in school because of their gender identity?
People all over the world wear purple on Spirit Day in a stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBTQ youth. Started on Tumblr and observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes ‘spirit’ on the rainbow flag.
Getting involved is easy: just wear purple on October 17th and turn your blogs, Facebook and Twitter profile pics purple using the app for iPhone and Android to help create a world in which LGBT youth are celebrated and accepted for who they are. Upload photos of you wearing purple with the hashtag #SpiritDay to Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+!
