Even Better Instructions
Begin with a 1920x1080 blank image.
Fill the lowest layer with the color #98e4ff.
Put 3 specific shapes in the upper right hand corner. Make them each from 100x50 pixel ovals overlapping halfway over each horizontally, and have one shape with its 2 right ovals outside of the side border.
For the next layer, make an equilateral triangle (the lower side should be parallel to the top and bottom of the total image) with color #d5ab2b that is 2/5 the height of the total image in the upper left corner that almost touches the top and has its lower left corner going over the left border partially.
For the next layer, make a curve with color #e2ac42 that cover all of the bottom of the triangle, slopes up, then slopes down ¾ of the way to the right side of the total image. Fill the area under the curve with the color.
For the next layer, make a curve with color #e9b34a that starts 3/7 of the way to the top of the total image starting from the left that slopes up slightly, peaks 1/3 of the way to the right side, then slopes down significantly. Fill the area under the curve with the color.
For the next layer, make a curve with color #f4be57 that starts 1/8 of the way up the image starting from the left with the low point at the left edge that then slopes up like a sine wave and peaks at the right side of the image. Fill the area under the curve with the color.
For the final layer, use the paintbrush tool with max size and 1% hardness. Center it with color #e9b34a on the middle of the right edge of the image and click once, then center it with black on the top of the pyramid and click once.

11/6/2017 Response
Trevor Paglen’s text discusses seeing machines, which use certain images to both give and receive information that cannot be deciphered by the human eye. He then expands the concept to include machines that are used to hone in on a specific aspect of an image, such as a license plate number. Machines can be used to represent both truths and aspirations, depending on what the designer of the machine intended it to be used for and what the user currently wishes to use it for. A large proportion of images I find using Google Images do not have an easily identifiable author; the source page can usually be found, but finding the actual creator of most of the images is not feasible.
Tom Simonite’s text delves into the idea that machines can be trained to view certain demographics differently than others, such as seeing women and men divided across a line that is commonly viewed as sexist. By having the software learn to associate women with cooking and cleaning and men with hard labor and sports, it develops its “sexist tendencies” to better identify and portray men and women based off of their locations and actions, though it tends to mistake men for women if they are placed in a situation it deems a woman the proper fit to. The seemingly endless amounts of data the machine analyzes only adds to its bias, but much of what it represents is the truth, and the data or machine must be modified to represent aspiration, straying further from reality in the process.

10/18/2017 Response
Miwon Kwon’s text begins with a scenario in which he can demonstrate the differences between integration and intervention. The scenario involves two empty sites of two failed art works, one in the South Bronx and the other in the Federal Plaza of downtown Manhattan. Identity and site merge the soul of the surrounding area, often affected by the social integration of the populace, with the physical appearance and structure of the site, causing a place to form that people can remember both the appearance of and emotions associated with it as well. I have been part of a site which has changed over time due to its community. About five years ago, my church had undergone a change to facilitate more youth activities within the church, and I was part of a high school board group that provided feedback to the leaders of the church regarding our thoughts on their plans for the future youth of the community. I have never participated in the defense of a site

9/18/2017 Response
Morris begins by detailing historical method of identification, with the first being self-reported characteristics, such as hair and eye color, height, and weight, being the sole aspects used for passports, without actual images attached. The Bertillon system, was next, using a series of measurements conducted by a professional, and photographs were later added to them, adding to their ability to verify one’s identity. Fingerprinting arose as a far more reliable method, as it is nearly impossible to replicate in a manner to fool experts, and was coupled with the person’s front and rear photograph and was often used by law enforcement organizations. These four methods of identification all have merits that temporally built into each other, but Morris claim’s that even fingerprinting has shown to be flawed in recent studies, along with them being somewhat difficult to handle on a large scale. The characteristics of a person can help define them visually and physically, but are they ever proof of uniqueness.
