Honestly, Ryan did think about that before. Maybe he should just hire more workers so that he wouldn’t have problems when there are emergencies in his crew’s lives. Especially now that he has a kid and girlfriend waiting for him to come home. “Yeah, I just don’t think I could trust an employee that has little to none training. But yeah, I’m gonna consider that.” He said, giving her a small smile in apology that he wasn’t able to come home at an expected time. Ryan heard the small sigh she let out with his question. He didn’t comment on it anymore because he already knew that she’ll make her response a little bit nicer than what really happened. “I understand.” He said first, knowing her mother hasn’t been his greatest fan in a while. “That’s really nice to hear but I’m still hoping that she won’t be mad one day anymore because she trusts me and not just you.” He chuckled and nodded at her joke, knowing she was making the situation lighter for him so he wouldn’t have to worry. Ryan kissed her back as she leaned and smiled even bigger this time. “I really am the luckiest man on Earth because of you.” He said, leaning forward to kiss her on the lips again. “I’m gonna take a shower so we can sleep already, okay?” Ryan got up and went inside the bathroom to take a quick shower before going to bed. He was so tired and all he wanted was to sleep. The two canoodled in bed and Ryan fell asleep as soon as his eyes were closed. Sadly, only after three hours, there was a baby crying. At first, Ryan thought he was just dreaming but no, he could literally hear the cry for help of Asher. His brain was awake but then his body was too tired to get up. He decided to just lie down a bit more, hoping Asher would stop. However, he wasn’t stopping and Ryan’s brain was already too awake to go back to sleep. “Babe...” He started, not sure if he wants Scarlett to make the baby stop because she’s already done that the entire day. Maybe she’ll offer so he didn’t say much yet.

SLEEPLESS NIGHT | RYLETT

Scarlett waved off his apology and frowned a bit as Ryan went on to explain how busy the day was and why. “Maybe you should hire some more people, Ry. I know you love cooking, but you shouldn’t have to fill in constantly because you’re short staffed. You might actually be able to come home at decent times, like before Asher goes to bed, if you do. It’s just a suggestion for you to consider.” She shrugged her shoulders, pushing a few strands of hair behind her ear as she bites down on her bottom lip, watching him. A sigh left the younger girl’s lips at the question and she paused for a brief moment in order to try to figure out how exactly she wanted to reply to his question. “She did, yes. You know that she’s always loved you from the start of our relationship, but she’s just a bit..wary still because of everything that happened. She isn’t mad anymore, no, because she trusts me to make my own decisions and will go along with whatever I want, but she just doesn’t want to see me hurt again. Just give her a little bit more time and in no time she’ll be back to adoring you and threatening to leave my father jokingly for you again.” Scarlett smiled fondly at the man, resting her free hand on his jaw and leaned in for a quick kiss. “Don’t worry about it, okay? You’ll charm them all over again, just like you did me.”

It has only been a week since Scarlett gave Ryan another chance. He’s still adjusting to everything about their newborn and having Scarlett back but he wouldn’t have any of it any other way. As Ryan got home, seeing his little guy and the girl he loves removed all the stress away. Especially when Scarlett gave him a kiss. Ryan smiled before opening his eyes and getting back up to kiss Scarlett a kiss on the cheek. “I’m sorry.” He apologized, feeling bad about complaining his day first before greeting Scarlett with a kiss. “Yeah, very busy day. Its good that the restaurant was full but I was short on crew so I had to work around the kitchen more.” He sigh, taking off his shirt to put on a cleaner one. Trying to smell himself, he figured he’d take a quick shower first. Ryan kept himself shirtless and he removed his shoes and pants to strip down in his boxers. “Did... Did your mom ask about...me?” He asked. Ryan knew that everyone close to Scarlett was still unsure about letting Ryan back in his life. But he wanted to make sure the most about Scarlett’s mom, hoping that she sees the guy’s effort in trying to win her daughter back. Ryan sat down the bed beside her, holding the girl’s hand and bringing it up to his lips. “Is she still mad about...the whole thing?”

SLEEPLESS NIGHT | RYLETT

It had been a long day for Scarlett. She had endured a visit from both her mother and sister early on in the day, the two wanting to check in on her and Asher. They were both still wary of her giving Ryan another chance after what happened when she first told him she was pregnant, but really, Scarlett hadn’t been happier. He had really stepped up as a father and she was swiftly and easily falling back in love with the man she had been in a relationship with for the past five years. After the visit, Asher hadn’t fussed much, only when he was hungry, and all and all it was an easy day compared to some others she had endured with the newborn. After feeding him one last time, Scarlett had laid Asher down in his crib for bed and headed into the bedroom to catch up on some TV until Ryan got home. Scarlett wasn’t surprised in the slightest when Ryan didn’t come home until after the restaurant was supposed to be closed, it was a popular place so that tended to happen. She looked up when Ryan entered the room and all but collapsed onto their bed. “You didn’t miss much, except for a visit from Stacey and my mother. He was pretty easy today.” Scarlett remarked, a small smile tugging at her lips as she leaned over to press a kiss to the older man’s cheek in greeting. “I assume the restaurant was busy today. How was your night?”

SLEEPLESS NIGHT | RYLETT

It’s been a long day for Ryan at work. The restaurant was full of customers plus two of his employees were sick. So, Ryan had to work in the kitchen so the flow of the orders would be as smooth as it should be. He told Scarlett about this and as much as he wanted to go home early to his two week old baby boy and the mother of his child, he couldn’t instantly close the restaurant, especially when there are still people lining up to eat. Finally, two hours after their original closing time, the people started leaving as everyone started cleaning. He told everyone to finish cleaning up as he needed to go home. On the way home, he was already close to passing out so luckily, Asher was already asleep and all Ryan had to do was give the boy a good night’s kiss. He went to the room he was sharing with Scarlett and instantly dropped on the bed. “I’m so exhausted. I didn’t even see Asher awake before he went to bed.” He told Scarlett, his eyes already close but his brains was still obviously awake.
