VIRTUAL BOSTON

My wife and I have spent a lot of time in Boston over the years and have fallen in love with the city. We’re there yearly, every spring, and enjoy everything - from the crazy subway system, the No Name restaurant on the fisherman’s pier, and of course the required Regina’s Pizza on the North End.  We love Boston.

This year, due to the Covid pandemic, the in-person running of the Boston Marathon was canceled. This short film features my wife Aaron and I, highlights from our past trips to Boston, and the virtual running of this year’s Boston Marathon in our hometown of Rockford, Michigan.

I shot this mainly on the White Pine Trail starting in Rockford, during her actual Boston Marathon race, on the traditional Boston marathon morning. It was a perfect morning to film, to run, and to spend time with Aaron during her race in ways I normally don’t get to. This was our way of enjoying the Boston Marathon, even though we weren’t in Boston this year for the race.

KÜHL

Outdoor brand fashion photography – spec layout photography project for outdoor brand KÜHL.

KÜHL clothing is great year-round, but to me is perfect for fall shoots. We shot at various locations both location-based and in the studio. In the end, the outdoor shots were our favorites.

The shoot was very run-and-gun style, with minimal gear and lighting equipment. I believe every photo for this project was taken with the Sony a7iii, 70-200 f2.8 lens, and Aputure 300x light, when used.

KÜHL is an incredible outdoor clothing brand, based in Utah. I personally wear a lot of their products - their pants and casual jackets are all pretty all I wear. I can attest to the durability and comfort of each item, as I'm extremely hard on my clothing.

HAUNTED FOREST

This fall, my good friends at Cannonsburg reached out to have me create a promo video for their new Haunted Forest attraction. A spooky walk through the woods on Cannonsburg. Woods filled with Zombies and Witches amd a ton of other things scary!

Of course I was in.

Working with Cannosburg staff organizers and the Haunted FOrest actors, I created short social media videos for them.

While a challange filming in near darkness, my team and I had a great time with Cannonsburg’s wonderful crew in making this video for them.

Commercial photography for outdoor brand Patagonia – layout for spec fashion photoshoot. Project client Patagonia. Fashion photography shot on-location during my favorite time of year to shoot - the fall. Who doesn't love fall?

As anyone who knows me can attest, I've long been a bit of a Patagonia fanatic. What can I say? Patagonia products take a ton of abuse, are functional, comfortable, and always look good. On top of that, as someone who loves the outdoors, I value what Patagonia stands for as a brand and all they do for causes I care about that relate to the environment..

F45 Training social media promo shot on location

I shot this social media promotional video and gave it a fun and fast-tempo edit for social media advertising. I also optimized this video for website use, and for viewing on mobile devices on spaces such as Instagram and Facebook.

F45 is a fitness studio franchise, with over 1,750 studios in 45 countries across the world.  This was a fun project with a great group of people.

IRONMAN WISCONSIN

This is a short film, a passion project, that I filmed of a quick roadtrip to Madison, Wisconsin where my wife and several of our close friends participated in Ironman Wisconsin.

For those unfamiliar, the race is this: a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2 mile run. That’s right, after swimming 2.4 miles then biking 112 miles, the participants complete a full marathon.

The short film follows us through the road trip, getting to and enjoying time with friends in Madison, and of course, the race. Ironman races are always exciting, and watching the participants fight through pain, exhaustion and the urge to quit is truly awe-inspiring.

Filmed mainly with Sony a7iii, 16-35mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8

CANNONSBURG PROMO

Winters at Cannonsburg are magical.

Growing up, I learned to ski here and it’s been a special place to me even since.

Way back when, it was a simple hill with a couple of hills. Boy has that changed.

Want to try fatbiking in the snow? How about flying down on tubes? Maybe you’d like to snowboard? Cannonsburg now has that all in the winter.

I filmed this simple quick promo highlighting a few of the things you can have fun doing at Cannonsburg in the winter.

Shot mainly with Sony a7iii, Sony 16-35 f2.8, and Ronin S gimbal.

Empire Stores

These short video clips are small pieces of a large project I shot in New York City.

As a photographer, I can’t think of anything more exciting than getting a call from a client who says “Can you be on a plane tomorrow morning to shoot in New York City for the week?”.

These clips are the hyper-lapse scenes I filmed at one of the locations while in NYC. Made up of hundreds of photographs that are stitched together and turned into a video, each hyper-lapse sequence is time-consuming and highly technical, giving a very unique look to a project.

For this project, I filmed at several locations in Manhattan, and a few different locations in Brooklyn.

TRI DEL SOL - MYTEAM TRIUMPH

My wife Aaron and I have been involved with myTeam Triumph in various capacities for many years now.

Usually, she races, and I film. It’s kind of perfect, actually.

You see, myTeam Triumph is a ride-along program designed to pair able and willing athletes with handicapped children and young adults. These teams, made up of the Captain (child) and Angels (athlete) then compete in a race. Triathlon, marathon, 5k, even Ironman races.

myTeam Triumph organizes teams of Captains and Angels for races all year long, around the country. Once a year, myTeam Triumph puts on their own race - Tri Del Sol.

Tri Del Sol is amazing.

Seeing these amazing kids finish a race they’d never be able to do on their own, through the hard work and dedication of the Angels is one of the most inspiring things you’ll ever see.

And I get to be along to capture it…

I film races year round for myTeam triumph as my way of giving back to an organization I love and believe in, and as my way of being involved with a sport my wife loves.

This short film was the first I put together for them, as a promotional and for them to show potential investors.

ZOMBIE PAINTBALL

My long-time friends at Cannonsburg reached out, wanting to have a short social media video created for their new Zombie Paintball event. Naturally, I was excited to be a part of it!

I shot this in the woods along the trails through Cannonsburg, filming the tractor-drawn trailer filled with people shooting paintballs at Zombies and werewolves at they scared us all the way through the woods. What a great time!

Cannonsburg has become so much more than just a place to downhill snow ski in the winter. They have tubing, ziplines, and trails for running and fatbiking. They also host running and biking races throughout the year.

Cannonsburg is a great place, even if you just want to low-key evening to sit in front of a fire on the deck and enjoy a drink, or some of their amazing food.

Gentle-Lift is revolutionizing limited mobility patient care with their ingeniously engineered, multi-use Gentle-Lift patient lift. They needed product photos and video production services before the patient lift was brought to market, so we got busy!

My crew and I shot product photos, use-case and instructional videos, and put it all together as a nice package that Gentle-Lift could use for advertising, social media, website, and to show to potential investors.  

It was a pleasure working with Gentle-Lift, a great company with a truly amazing product that can certainly change the lives of those with limited mobility and those that care for them.

CASSIDY GALE

Cassidy Gale is an extremely talented wakesurfer. 3-time World Champion wakesurfer, in fact. I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful day out on the water with her, taking photos and shooting videos. The main goal for the day was to create images for her to use on social media. When we got out to the lake, I knew I just had to throw together a short video edit for her to use as well.

For this shoot I went light, and shot almost entirely with my Sony a7iii, Sony 70-200 f2.8 lens, and Sony 16-35 f2.8 lens.

Product photography and spec layout for outdoor brand REI. For this project, I opted for simple, clean product photography shot in the studio. I love coffee, and I love REI Co-Op where I’ve been a member for many years, so this project was a no-brainer.

I don’t take on product photography jobs as often as I’d like, and this was a fun one. Simple studio setup using various Aputure lights and seamless background on white.
