“Do you think you can keep up?” Spunky, free-spirited, Lightning was more than aware that Vanille was not one to be underestimated. Hard to believe, but easy to recall. The soldier does not relent her hurried march, however, with much ground to cover and no time to rest.

@avaliantqueen
“Garnet.” Calm, hushed drawl of voice, winter’s gaze falling upon familiar woman. She stands, erected in respect toward her friend, the queen-to-be, palm fixing itself against armored breastbone as she soon follows with a slight bow of her head. “Forgive me for my long absence.”

his  face  contorts  into  a  thin-laced  frown  ,  eyes  narrowing  at  the  warrior  turned  goddess  .  she  must  have  lost  some  of  her  common  sense  with  that  trip  to  valhalla  .  ❛     you’re  really  going  to  ask  me  that  ,  light  ?     ❜
Tumblr media
“It’s not like I need you to watch over me or something.” Hospitality is cast to the side in favor of her frigid attitude, temporarily sealing a void torn in her middle, acquired upon being coerced into the desolate shores of Valhalla. Seeing an old comrade only whisked the burdensome alienation she couldn’t help but feel here. “There’s no reason for you to be here.”

Tumblr media
“I didn’t mean to startle you.” Timber gentle, feet carry him closer, unable to keep his eyes off of her. It had been a long time, after all. “How long have you been in the area?” Though curiosity is evident, he tries to keep the accusation from his tone.
Tumblr media
Flesh jumps at the sight of him inching closer, and her shoulder blades flex in subconscious, natural rection. The heat on her skin burns with the notion that he still preferred to be in close vicinity with her. She welcomed this ( silently ). “Only for a night. I just got back.”

“Do you plan on standing there forever or are you moving any time soon?” She speaks out over her shoulder, a quick huff of breath passing through parted tiers as she marches onward, offering no time for anyone to get in step with her.

Note
“It’s dangerous.”
Tumblr media
“Yeah, no kidding.” Venomous drawl, bitter chill down the length of her throat and a scowl to fit. She didn’t feel the urge to press the conversation further, as the abundance of disturbed beasts lying in wait ahead was physical evidence that danger was warranted.

“I don’t feel comfortable with you going there on your own.”
The sentiment is courteous, she thinks. However, she doesn’t know him, his intentions, his reasoning. She had been the host of this journey for herself, by herself, long enough; waged battle against enough monsters and slain her fair share of foot soldiers to be too concerned about testing the shadows alone.“Thanks but, I think I’ll be just fine.”

Note
“I’m not leaving you alone. Not now, not ever.”
Tumblr media
She doesn’t mean to linger, hung up in the silence following his words. It’s just that.. she doesn’t feel like she deserves the sentiment. Always missing in action. One assignment after the other. The cold pooling into the empty space in the bed. How could he even still think of her as some sort of priority?
“Finnick..” She’s struggling. Stringing a minimum amount of words together in her head to offer the proper response. There is a tenderness that is nurtured for him. Always for him. It is difficult to exude a rigid demeanor, or spew icy words in his direction for this reason alone.“…thank you.”

“Stay behind me.”
“Yeah, right!!”
Tumblr media
In an instant ( a fleeting flash; blinding light ) she was flying towards the opponent. Oh, but did the other truly expect any different from a slayer of Gods? To sit back and simply observe the fight, and not draw her loyal weapon and enter it? Not in a million lifetimes. Lightning doesn’t watch the fray, she ends it.
Tumblr media
“Let’s finish this.”
