bailey nods in response, silently as she looks over toward costia once more.  she doesn’t recognize her, maybe there’s no need for her to.  she wonders if she simply wasn’t around for lexa’s death; maybe she was on the rig with luna to begin with, maybe she was just simply elsewhere.  but she doesn’t know who the woman is, never knew what costia looked like.  until now, of course.  “yes, that’s right.  i–  i am sorry, truly.  lexa was a great leader.  she was tough, had skill.”  bailey always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps, become one of the guard upon the ark.  in a way, had she been able to follow through with those hopes, she hoped she’d be somewhat like lexa in that case.  utilize her BRAIN.  

bailey’s eyes return to the window, though she can’t bear to watch what was happening.  she knows octavia can handle this, indra had taught her well.  it’s the thought that others might be one step ahead of her that scares her.  “octavia’s great.  indra’s taught her everything she knows, i think she’s rather enjoyed teaching her.  she has skill, too.”  the woman’s words are unexpected, but she can’t be too upset.  every group is rooting for their own, as they should.  she’s simply rooting for luna.  just as bailey is rooting for octavia.  “i’m sure it’s taken a LOT for luna to even be here right now.  i heard that she didn’t even go to her own conclave, with lexa.  that she was tired of the FIGHTING.”

NO  MATTER  WHO  WINS,     costia  won’t  be  in  that  bunker.  the  trikru  champion  went  early.  he  was  weak.  nothing  like  her  lexa.  if  she  had  to  choose,  she’d  hope  for  oktevia  to  win.  lexa  brought  skaikru  into  the  coalition,  she  apparently  became  very  close  with  their  leader.  and,  besides,  at  least  then  someone  would  get  the  bunker.  some  of  them  would  get  to  live.  when  luna  stands  at  the  end  of  this  conclave,  victorious,  no  one  lives.  all  the  human  race  wiped  out  because  of  one  woman’s  cruelty.  lexa  would  never  be  so  callous  with  people’s  lives.  her  heart  was  strong.

bailey blinks, eyes unmoving from the window from where she stood.  from where they all stood, as they all watched their people DUEL TO THE DEATH.  literally.  it’s stressful, anxiety inducing.  and bailey wishes that it would stop; she wishes that it didn’t have to come to this, that there was a way they could all just sit together and come up with something else.  something that didn’t include killing each other, slaying each other until the final one standing is deemed winner.  ruler.  leader.  the archer swallows heavily, costia’s voice breaking her out of her own thoughts – to which she SILENTLY THANKED HER – as she peers over to her.  

lexa’s death is one that should never have happened.  a mistake.  something bailey wishes she could change, for the sake of trikru.  having lost a leader like lexa must have been devastating.  heartbreaking.  it must be considering how bailey felt when the news broke.  “she died in a way she shouldn’t have.  not in fight, not in war.”  a pause.   “i’m SORRY for your loss.  she deserved a better fate.”

SHE  KNEW.     she  knew,  deep  down.  when  they  all  refused  to  meet  her  gaze,  when  indra  told  her  that  lexa  was  gone,  but  wouldn’t  tell  her  how  she  went,  when  she  went,  why  she  went.  she  knew  that  her  love  did  not  die  valiantally  as  she  should  have.  but,  still,  hearing  the  words  spoken  out  loud. . .  costia’s  heart  breaks  all  over  again  for  the  woman  she  loved  so  dearly,  so  deeply,  so  eternally.  azgeda  could  not  beat  her  love  for  lexa  out  of  her,  and  death  will  not  rip  it  from  her  hands.  costia  will  go  to  her  grave  loving  her  commander.  her  commander  who  deserved  more.

lexa was never sure on how her days would go. one thing could happen and everything could change; she could be facing the possibility of war or just a single individual that could be a threat to her people. with a shake of her head, she answered the other inquiry. “ i am not sure…” then she contemplated on the other joining her. it would be for the best interest of both of them that costia stay by side , even with the queen’s threat now gone–but it could also cause tensions between her and her advisors. they were never open for any commander to fall in love. love is weakness. they would all say. “ maybe you should stay here…for your own safety. the tower is protected and no one can reach you here. “ her voice remained soft, delicate. only with her were her words so calm and smooth. though she hesitated to move from her quarters. she would love costia’s company…but was it a good idea?
