Hey friends! I’m really bad at asking for help so this is kind of embarrassing to me personally, but I’ve had a ridiculously awful past few months and could really use some help paying rent/utilities and such

I was hit with a lotta really heavy life shit late last year that really effected my mental health and it’s made it really hard to be a “productive member of society”. I don’t have enough energy to leave the house most days so it’s really hard to go out and look for a job while also juggling phone calls with my angry banks, my doctors, and different medical offices trying to find a therapist.

I’m tryin to get some stuff together to sell my art/take commissions so hopefully I’ll have that up here soon but in the meantime,

Driving Through the Midwest Gothic

You pass a billboard that says “Jesus! I trust in you!”

You pass another. How many have you passed? God only knows.

You see a rolling field irrigator. As you pass more you start to believe they’re sentient.

They follow you.

The highway stretches out before you, dissapearing in the distance.

It looms with the promise of something unknown.

There are electronic billboards every few miles or so with the message to call *55 if you’re stranded.

You see tire tracks in the grass off the road. You wonder what happens if you call *55

You stop at the Sapp Bros. gas station.

There are dolls and glass figures, they watch you. You sit on the heated seats in the bathroom and wonder why you’ve never seen heated toilet seats in normal civilization.

Dilapidated barns watch you as you pass, you think you hear them creaking as they turn to see you.

There’s an enormous 40 foot tall covered wagon across the highway. You wonder what kind of creatures could’ve pulled such a thing. You hope you never find out.

You passed York 80 miles ago on your way to Lincoln. Lincoln is only 50 miles away from York. You pass York again, from the same direction. Where are you?

Does anyone else have that one friend whose sleep schedule is like an ever-evolving mystery? One day they’ll appear to be asleep for the entire 16 hours that you’re awake, but the next three they won’t appear to actually sleep at all. Sometimes they appear to be on Australian time, other times their schedule has adjusted to somewhere in the middle of the Pacific ocean. (I call this Cthulhu time.) You go a week without seeing them and you have no idea if they’re just really busy, dead, or if their sleep has simply synced up to the exact hours you’re awake and online. The only indication that they’re still in this mortal coil is vague posts about grocery shopping that pop up on their blogs at 4:12AM.

people who put video tutorials online for literally everything are the backbone of this society i would be nowhere without the comfort that whenever i don’t know how to do something painfully simple i can look it up like i bet i could look up ‘how to preheat the oven’ and there’d be endless videos and i never have to look like a complete idiot again. thank you all for saving my life
