Ostara Cakes
I was blessed to be home on Spring Break this Ostara, and with the extra time decided to make Honey Lemon Cakes! I made three, one to eat, one to offer, and one to save. Below is the recipe as well as the incantation I said before placing them in the oven.
Makes 3 ramekin cakes. Can be doubled for cupcakes.
You Will Need:
¾ Cup All-Purpose Flour
¾ Tsp Baking Soda
A Dash of Salt
One Egg
1/3 Cup Sugar
3 Tbsp Honey
Zest and Juice of One Lemon (Juice should be about ¼ cup)
6 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
¼ Cup Milk
1 Tbsp Rosemary
¼ Cup Powdered Sugar (give or take a few tablespoons).
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350 F and oil/butter three ramekins. Set aside.
2. Whisk together honey, lemon zest, sugar, and butter (melted). Once combined, crack and whisk in the egg, followed by the ¼ Cup of milk and half your lemon juice.
3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in the rosemary.
4. Make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and pour your wet mixture into the center. Gently fold to combine.
5. Equally divide the batter among the ramekins.
6. Before placing in the oven, hold your hands above the ramekins and recite the following:
I imbue these cakes with the energy of new beginnings. May I grow and flourish. May I nurture nature as it has nurtured me.
7. Place the cakes in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 F.
8. While the cakes bake, whisk together the powdered sugar and the remaining lemon juice. This will be your glaze.
9. Once the cakes have baked through, remove them from the ramekins and coat in the glaze as well as a drizzle of honey.
Heres how mine came out:

Don’t forget to leave an offering! A piece of your cake or a whole one will do. I hiked one of mine out into the woods but you’re welcome to leave it on your porch or by your door.
Have a wonderful Ostara! Blessed be.

as much as the concept of Jesus being a fairly normal lad has its charms, im personally very intrigued by the idea of him being just… extremely weird. not even in a mystical sense, just…….staggeringly BIZZARRE.
you go to the well to get some water, and here’s Miriam’s boy, staring at the sky, completely still. his expression is unreadable. you hazard a hello and ask how he’s doing, and he slowly, unblinkingly, lowers his gaze on you (he’s 8 and is missing his frontal teeth, not that this is making you any less uncomfortable) and says “I cannot speak of the state of my being, Nathan son of Saul, my brother, but rejoice for the water you shall take today will be as pure as the soul of the children of Heaven”
…you start sweating
