━   王蛇   ;  Severus can be acerbic, and cold and a straight up asshole but at his very core he is a soft, gentle boy. It is probably one of the factors that endeared him to Lily so much, because he is so soft spoken and gentle in the way he conducts himself. This comes from Eileen; who while in her youth had been bright and ambitious and cunning, was very meek. His home situation also did not encourage him to be loud nor anything but submissive. He didn’t learn to speak, he learned to whisper; didn’t learn to walk but to glide over the creaky wooden floors in order to not upset his father. And that was carried through to his adult life. Everything he went through did harden him, made sure he kept his walls well taken care of, and the mask of scorn well-placed on his face, but it didn’t break the softer side of him. Just forced it to be hidden under lock and key, only a few people getting to experience it. Those include: Lucius, Narcissa, Draco, Minerva and Regulus.
