A letter from Luvia to Milla

My dearest sister,

You should see how the lights of Harold’s look when blanketed in fresh snow. It was just a frivolous purchase at the time, but I do not regret making it. Perhaps sometime in the coming months you’ll come see me? I will take you to my favorite crepe shop as they serve some of the best crepes I have ever had.

The Mages here are a bit of a mixed bag, some are...I believe the word is odd? Oddballs for certain. Even the professor. Since back home everyone was always so serious when they would visit it was strange seeing young Mages just being silly. Ah, which reminds me.

Did you know that my class has quite the number of fair haired students in it? There were a few whispers of Lord El Melloi II ‘collecting blondes’, I found it amusing since it feels like he would rather be anywhere else except that classroom. I haven’t the slightest what he does in his spare time but one student claims that he enjoys playing video games. Can you imagine that?

I am happy to hear that you and your partner are doing well, and please sister, I know you mean well but don’t tease me about finding someone for me. I am perfectly capable of doing that myself. Actually...there is someone I’ve met but, I think it will be some time before I do, there is much to be done before that.

Luvia is actually not that great at healing. She can use her magecraft to heal superficial stuff but anything more serious is definitely a hospital visit.

She writes to her sister every few weeks and is always keeping a watchful eye in case anything is amiss. If anything is to happen to Milla, Luvia will be there for her on the first flight she can book.

She's held a grudge against that clerk in the Clock Tower when she was told that no she cannot buy herself an entire wing of the dorms for herself. While yes she can see the reasoning behind it, it still left a sour taste in her mouth since she put on such a shameful display.

Though Halloween isn’t that big of a holiday in her country, Luvia does like the idea of dressing up in silly costumes. If she were to pick one to wear this year, it’d be a picture book wizard. Pointy hat and all.

Casual clothes are not part of her day to day wardrobe. Luvia doesn't even know what casual clothes are. She's willing to do battle in a dress, even ripping them apart if she needs to because what does it matter? She can buy another one.

Long sleeved dresses will always be altered so that the sleeves will come off without ripping the dress, though in warmer weather she prefers either short sleeves or sometimes even strap dresses.

When the occasion calls for it, Luvia will wear pants, perfectly tailored to her legs so that she may have an easier time moving around. Not that she's expecting anything to happen to her but one cannot be too careful.

Wrestling aside, Luvia is also fond of boxing and swimming. She is a very active person when she’s not working on her spellcraft. Even so, her diet is somewhat a mess because she cannot say no to oversized sweet things. Give her the largest parfait and she will devour it as quickly (and as ladylike) as possible.

For sleepwear, you just know that Luvia mostly prefers floor length nightgowns, but she does have some more risque ones that rarely see the light of day (night).

Magic Mint Cookie: a magic/supernatural headcanon

The reason that Luvia started hunting Apostles was because when she was younger, Luvia did have a friend. That friend was from the town just outside the Edelfelt grounds and had wandered into the gardens when they found Luvia there, reading. At first, she didn't like them much because 1) they were trespassing and 2) commoner.

However she allowed them to continue to visit her because she found them amusing. They had a few more play-dates until one day, they didn't show up. In fact, at the time, suddenly Leevi (Luvia's father) was telling her that she was not allowed outside anymore. She disobeyed him and slipped out of the manor to look for her friend.

She found out that a foreigner had visited the town and people had disappeared, her friend included. At first, she denied it, unable to come to terms that she'll never see them again and when she went back home, Luvia would still wait by the place where she and her friend met.

One day, someone is there, but it's not her friend anymore, they have been turned into an Apostle's thrall. When it is about to attack her, she does what she needs to do, and slays her former friend. From that day, she grew to despise Apostles and that is what drove her to begin hunting them, in memory of her friend.

The Edelfelts have several mines from which Luvia gets her gems for her spellcraft. The workers are paid fairly, don’t worry. She may be rich but she doesn’t really look down on the working class. Sometimes she’ll visit the mines herself to oversee the process and will take a few gems to infuse with her mana. She’ll then cut them herself into something usable.

There is a room in her manor dedicated to this procedure as well as another just filled to the brim with gems. If you manage to get in and just take a handful, you’d be able to live comfortably for a while.
