"It's weird but in a refreshing, homely, sort of way. Actually I've never even owned a pet."

"Alright, I see your point. But everything about this place is pretty weird, just got to get used to it, I guess." She shrugged. "Or maybe you’re just a dog person."

"I think I said sorry a hundred times." He laughed. "That's cool, does it make you special or something?"

"That’s still not very nice, they are living things too. Did you appologize?" She joked and noded. "A sophomore yeah, I guess we are. We did, it’s one of the few times it has happened actually."

"Right, the ritual stuff. I guess as long as there's not weird animal-cat-sacrifices to the goddess, I can deal." He shrugs. "People think you aren't? Yeah I can go from my room to the food, but that's about it. Classes are going to be hard to navigate to."

"Not really—sorry, buddy. We have a spiritual connection with them so it’s not as bad as you might think..or how I made it sound." He took the paper and scanned through. "Contrary to popular belief I’m a nice guy. Plus, I was new once too. Don’t worry about it—I can walk you through it. Are there any on here you do know?"

"You mean when you become one of theirs? Because that's probably the weirdest thing yet."

"They get less creepy when you get your own."

"Do the, uh, fledglings get a choice? Or are we forever owned by a cat?" Sage shook his head, trying to wrap his head around it. He reached into his pocket and handed Porter the paper detailing his classes. "Yeah I guess. You wouldn't mind? I don't even know what some of those classes are, I kinda haven't been in school for awhile."

"Sometimes fledglings get chosen by a cat. As strange as it sounds we don’t own them they own us." He smirked. "Maybe you should have been, anyways I can help you around. Can I see your schedule?"

"Choose me?" Sage's brows furrowed and he looked around the quad. "Both of which is true. My mentor guy showed me around yesterday but I wasn't really paying enough attention."

"They do indeed. One might even choose you sometime. You look new and lost."

"I didn't mean to, they just sit where my feet seem to go. Is that like a Sophomore? Did you guys get marked together?"

"You did what? Don’t step on them! They’ll get angry or hurt. " She shrugged, "It’ll get better once you get settled in. I’m a fourth former with my twin sister last year."

"Do they just roam around all the time? I'm Sage, it's nice to meet you."

"I’d get used to them, bud. They literally are everywhere. I’m Porter by the way."

"They are everywhere, I stood on about 50 cat's tails today." He said making a face. "It's better than people say it is, I'm not gonna complain. How long have you been here?"

She let out a laugh. “How are they creeping you out? I love it here—It’ll get more comfortable too.”

"This place isn't half bad -the cats are kinda creeping me out."
