See it's true Normally you don't complain about something you dislike in public/in its tag but i feel there is an exception for Terfy Media i think that you should complain about that directly to their faces as much as possible until they can't possibly talk about it themselves anymore.

Review of the Leasebound Part 1

After having been accused of "not knowing what this comic is about" before i cut its proverbial dick off, i decided yknow what? i WILL re-read it (unfortunately) and tell everyone what it IS about. you read leasebound before? just reading it now? have no idea what it is? let's explore:

Chapter 1 (and prologue too) is incredibly inoffensive, it's also incredibly Slow. i understand some scenes require a slower pace, but given the entirety Of this chapter is "oopsie doopsie we are lesbians sharing a room!" it could probably stand to cull the like, idk. 4 pages of jaden walking up to the apartment.

The art is also passable, the author notes these pages are "from 2017" as if that was ages ago, and i think that they actually don't look Bad. for a light fluffy webcomic the doughy art style and simple pop-color backgrounds fit.

I will not however forgive the fact that Riley's nose is all the way up in her eyebrow in some of these panels. it's a bit off-putting and when she closes her mouth it makes it look like she has a tiny scrunched-up kirby face. Funny, but not really intended.

Also i enjoy the fact that they had to put a pride flag in this one panel. GET IT? WE'RE LESBIANS!!!"

The panel angels are also kind of... Odd. there's a few cuts just to people's mouths which is fine, but

this one here cuts to just Riley's Hairy Leg? i guess it's good to know that is hair and not just freckles. but what's the point of this angled, detailed shot here? "we have leg hair, yknow. like lesbians do!" I think if the artist wanted to cut down on the number of random talking headshot, they coulda just cut some of the panels entirely. condensed the story a bit.

But like, in chapters 1 and 2 it's a slice of life aimed at lesbians so like, yeah they just talk about how they're kinda gay i guess, that's the chapter. Riley mentions her cat, Jaden mentions her job. scene ends. blah blah. etc.

Boy i sure hope this panel ages gracefully!

Idk much about Leasebound but from looking at the site, all the trans characters are portrayed as either Strawmen or Scooby Doo Villains. I’m gonna wager the comic’s writing isn’t that good

youre pretty much spot on anon. yeah the writing is ass. nothing ever happens except for constant gestures at The Conflict, were expected to root for cardboard cutouts with no personality, the whole thing is thematically incoherent in its commentary on misogyny even when ignoring the transphobia and its author is really bad with handling other social issues. if you like exhaling a bit when reacting to badly written over the top emotional drama i highly suggest reading it but otherwise its not worth it

Since I know people on Tumblr care more and have actually gotten her removed before I wanted to post this here.

If this post actually gets some traction I will make sure to post the rest of my research and findings on Rusty as soon as I can as this needs to be shown to as many Trans people (and trans artists) as possible.

And while I know she's been removed from here before she has desperately tried to crawl back again and again so I want this information to be readily available to anyone who might come across her work or content.

like bruh I have low/no empathy myself (towards people who are not really really close to me), but that doesn't mean I want to harm people?? no empathy doesn't equal a want to hurt people. those are two completely seperate things. I don't hurt people because I have absolutely no reason to, because I have zero benefit from it and it also is just. morally wrong. but empathy is not the important factor in this! empathy might stop someone from giving in to the want of hurting others, or it might not. but it doesn't equal this want!!
