Hyuup!
She is off the ground. Oh no. She’s 6 feet off the ground. She’s in very, very strong arms, off the ground, and she’s kind of freaking out about it. “Dhu-Dhurke! Sahdmadhi! R-Rebel! You put me down! You put me down this instant! How - how dare you, put your hands on me, regardless of - of our relation!”
Still, she isn’t fighting away from him, not really. She’s wiggling and pushing at him, maybe even weakly punching his shoulder, but not really trying anything too harsh.
“Put me down! I did not give you permission to carry me!”

Hyuup!
“Br-Braid Head! Braid Head! Braid Head - you put me - put me down! How - what are you doing!? What are you up to!? Put me - put me down! Put me down!” She kicks her feet, connecting with Nahyuta’s upper arm. “Who - who do you think you are, putting your hands on a princess? On - on the Royal Priestess!?”

For every ∯ I get I will say/confess something without specifying for whom it is meant
eg:
∯ || You told me once that I was the only person on that team you might consider a friend… I can say now that I should have taken you at your word long ago.
∯ || I wish we had more occasion to speak. I can’t say I’ve ever disliked your company.
∯ || Leave the van Gogh works be; you’re going to give him an ulcer.

Florence + The Machine Ask Prompts/Starters
“There is no way out.” “But I like to keep some things to myself.” “I was dead when I woke up this morning.” “There is a hollow in me now.” “There’s a drumming noise inside my head.” “Tell me what you want me to say.” “Leave all your love and your longing behind..” “I'l be dead before the day is done.” “It’s over. And I’m going under.” “It’s so peaceful in the deep. No need to pray, no need to speak.” “Looking for heaven, I found a devil in me.” “A kiss with a fist is better than none.” “You are the space in my bed.” “If you’re gone, I will not belong here.” “I was looking for a breath of life.” “So I stayed in the darkness with you.” “I don’t want your money. I don’t want your crown. I’ve come to burn your kingdom down.” “Sooner or later, the things you love – you lose.” “Would you leave me if I told you what I’ve done?” “Never let me go.” “All your love will be exorcised.” “I can hear your heart beat.” “What has been done can not be undone.” “You left me in the dark.” “I’m damned if I do, and I’m damned if I don’t.” “You can’t carry it with you if you want to survive.’ “A thousand armies couldn’t keep me out.” “Things go wrong no matter what I do!” “You’re my head, you’re my heart.” “Though the pressure’s hard to take, it’s the only way I can escape.” “It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back.” “We will never be afraid again.” “I never knew daylight could be so violent.” “They were there when I woke up this morning.” “I know I can count on you.” “Sometimes I just feel like saying, Lord, I just don’t care.” “I’m always in this twilight in the shadow of your heart.” “I started to hear it again..” “I can’t leave the past behind.” “You’ve got the love I need.” “The dog days are over.” “You can’t choose what stays and what fades away.” “Life is just too much.” “I’m not giving up. I’m just giving in.”

She knows she’s caught, just as Apollo and Phoenix caught her in lies for Ga'ran’s sake - that’s funny, though makes her flinch a little, aware that he knows, now, what came out during the trial, even if he hadn’t before. She plays with her fingers, twisting and untwisting them, suddenly unable to meet his gaze as her face heated back up - partially because she was found out, and partially in remembrance of how Ga'ran had chosen to tell her, almost as though it was something she had wanted to tell her for years and was enjoying the chance to say it.
“…” If he feels that way… Maybe it won’t be so bad. Maybe he isn’t lying to her. She thinks - a bit bitterly - she probably could never tell either way. “…Ga'ran told me that… that Queen Amara was my mother, and not her, since I wanted everyone to know the truth.”
It’s a half answer; Amara having a second child in no way meant that she was necessarily Dhurke’s, but she shifts her staff into the ground and digs it in, in order to lean on it a little, letting it bear a small part of her weight her weight.
“And I know that you’re my father, and that that’s why… why Mother stayed with me - so that I wouldn’t be hurt.”
After all, what’s the worst that he could tell her - that he doesn’t want her? It wouldn’t be the first time; at least she didn’t have over a decade of memories making her believe he did. Still, she feels a need to assert herself as still being who she is, who she was raised to be, to distance herself as she still insists on distancing herself from Nahyuta. It’s not even that she wants to, as she doesn’t particularly, but trust has been hard and slower to come by after Ga’ran.
“But that doesn’t change that I’m the Royal Priestess! Especially after Ga’ran was dethroned!”
He definitely did.
It was cut off, but he made it out well enough to know where that thought was headed. His expression remained jovial as he nodded in affirmation.
“Guilty as charged. I don’t think that’s so embarrassing, is it? When you’re a man blessed with two beautiful children, it’s hard not to get teary-eyed.” He casually slipped in the reveal of the second child like it was nothing. If he were headed in the wrong direction, he could always claim he meant Apollo. He wasn’t his, but hey, he was a beautiful boy in his time, right? “That’s funny, though. Ga’ran wasn’t there when Nahyuta was born, and I doubt Amara would tell her something so small.”
He couldn’t write off her twitching and stuttering as simply her being a nervous child anymore. It’s not as though he didn’t foresee the possibility. He knew when Apollo showed him that picture, there was a chance his secret would be unearthed. If she truly found out, then…well, one step at a time.
“Your Benevolence…You’ve been tense this whole time. I get the feeling you desperately want to say something, but you’re afraid of what will happen if you do.” He closed his eyes. “I know…because I feel that way right now.”
A dragon never yields. He wondered if Rayfa had the heart of a dragon in her…If she had the courage to speak her mind.

@comical-nihilist
Rayfa is used to many things involving the dead; she has seen her mother channel spirits, has even seen Maya channel them, and often relives their last moments as they perceived them. Spirits and ghosts do not scare her.
At least, she would have put good money on the idea that they didn’t. Looking at a skeleton, however, much less one that walks and talks as the living or as channeled spirits do... It is unnerving, she thinks. Her education has fallen behind, but not so far behind that she does not understand the concept of musculature.
"Ah..." What was the polite way to ask this? What happened here? Spirits channeled look like they did before their death, not after, as she had seen first-hand after being tricked with everyone else... But... well, could it be? "Excuse me. May I ask - what medium channeled you, are you aware?"
Respect to the dead was important, above all else, in her opinion, so long as they weren't violent. "I have never seen a channeling work as yours does..."
He certainly has to know he’s dead, doesn’t he?

She relaxes at the acknowledgement of her rank, even using the right title (which she likely should have been suspicious of, but she thinks nothing of it, having heard ‘your benevolence’ for so long), and her fingers let go of her staff to let it rest at her side in its normal position.
“Yes - yes, you are correct.” No, she doesn’t. But she’d prefer to be treated like a princess or a priestess than a child, the lost child she is. “Thank you. That would be appreciated. I suppose if you are to guide me, I can trust you with my name.”
Her chin tips up, as if she expects Homura to recognise her name, not yet realizing how odd this place is. “I am Rayfa Padma Khura’in. And you, would-be guide..?”
Right… she was a bit touchy, wasn’t she. Just like Jyotsna.
“Right, right. Sorry to assume that of you, Your Benevolence. How could I ever make that mistake?”
Even still, Homura’s smile remained. The girl’s bristly demeanor didn’t bother her at all.
“Tell you what. A princess like yourself has better things to do than concern herself with trivial matters like figuring out how to get from A to B. How about I serve as a tour guide? I mean… I assume you’re new. You’re looking around a lot like this is all new to you.”

“No - while I was welcome to leave the palace grounds, generally Nayna took care of my needs...” Which - she knew now, how selfish she had been, how demanding and unreasonable, but it was still a habit she was trying to break.
“A job -” horrifying. Her, with a job? What could she even do? She idly rubs the knuckles of her fingers along her jawline, eyes drifting upwards as she wracks her brain. “Yes - I suppose your advice is sound. As the Royal Priestess, I provide for my people...” Which is why taxes, she thinks, are fine, especially since - as far as she knows - they weren’t unreasonable.
“I will look into it. And you? Do you have a job?”
“Holy Mother…?”
Must be a religious thing.
“Guess princesses don’t have to handle the cash themselves. Anyway, I doubt you have access to your royal coffers here… so try and learn a thing or two about finances. Try not to get greedy – nobody likes a money-grubbing queen. If you really need to, you can get a job, or ask for help.”

“Barbed Head!” He’s a figure of relief, almost as much as Nahyuta is, and as Apollo would be; he makes sense to her, if only in that he makes no sense at all, and she associates positive things with him, so (while she might choose to run to his side, all things equal) she moves to his side with the poise her station requires.
“Barbed Head - I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised to see you in a place such as this. Shall I accompany you, for old time’s sake?”
She doesn’t want to be left alone, is still struggling with the idea that she can be - for what amounts to the first time in her life - be really and truly alone.

Ga’ran - no, Ga’ran had had nothing positive to say about Dhurke, and had only attempted to terrify her into seeing the Defiant Dragons as the terrorists Ga’ran had wanted them to be. But she isn’t talking about her - and Rayfa’s brow furrows for a moment, at the switch from Amara to Ga’ran as mother, and despite the fact that she’s consciously thinking that Dhurke doesn’t seem to know that she’s well aware Amara is her mother, his actual interest in the embarrassing stories throws her off guard.
It’s easy to pick it - big girls don’t cry, Ga’ran made it clear, to say nothing of men being overly emotional, so Amara’s favourite story, the one of her birth, is the most embarrassing, in her opinion.
“Mother told me that you cried the first time that you saw m-” her thoughts crash to a halt. No, not her. Nahyuta. He isn’t her dad, he never knew her, so she needs to fix what she just started to say. “N-Nahyuta. Braid Head. And when you held him for the first time.”
Nailed it. The terrifying lawyer in Dhurke will definitely not notice that. Nope.
Seeing the little princess grow bright red over his own teasing made him want to laugh even harder. Though watching her grow increasingly flustered was adorable, he didn’t wish to go too far. Watching her tremble made it all seem a touch cruel. Just like her adoptive mother, it was almost too easy to push her buttons. Best he eased up before Rayfa completely blew her top off.
He leaned in curiously, waiting patiently for Rayfa’s tongue to untie itself. The thought she settled on caught him off guard.
“Embarrassing stories? I…didn’t think Ga’ran had anything like that on me,” he mused, rubbing his chin in his usual fashion. “I assumed she’d tell you something more akin to horror stories.” That was the propaganda she loved to swirl around, after all. All those flattering murals of him she had painted in Amara’s tomb spoke to that. That alone convinced him that Rayfa would run for the hills if she were ever caught in the same room with “the demon who took Amara’s life.” He really had to thank Apollo for clearing that one up.
“Well, what are these stories?” He perked up with genuine interest. “Give me the juiciest you’ve got! Don’t hold back - this dragon’s got thick scales!”

“Money..?” She’s never really thought about it - it’s not as though she’s ever had to. “The Holy Mother stresses humility and humbleness, so while I have never had much access to money, myself...”
Which is to say, she has no idea how to handle money and probably definitely should not be trusted with any. She has no idea what anything should cost or what the value of it is, after all.
“I can’t imagine I would see much need for it, as long as my needs are met.”
But maybe some of her her needs have veered a little far into the ‘wants’ category.
“Oh yeah? No kidding.”
Ange smirked – not at Rayfa’s tragedy, but the similarity between theirs.
“For 12 years, I believed that the previous head, my aunt, killed the rest of my family to take the status and fortune for herself. Turns out I was just a little off base. Maybe we have more in common than just our status. Personally, I don’t really care about money. I’ve already given half of what I have away to charity. How about you?”

“Kyle.” He reminds her of Ahlbi, so she’s already decided he’s under her protection; he looks like he might be of an age with him. “At home I would be Your Benevolence, but I will accept Rayfa.”
Magnanimous of her, wasn’t it? His question, though, makes her cheeks heat up a faint pink. “No. I have just arrived here myself - but surely, with two of us, we can find some place with more information.”
Okay, on closer look, the girl was definitely wearing some weird clothes – probably like a princess – it reminded him of that time he and the other guys played around like it was medieval times or something with that new kid. It made him a bit nostalgic, and she didn’t seem evil or anything.
“Oh, I’m Kyle.” He wasn’t really sure if he should say his full name like she did, so just Kyle would probably do it. “And sure, I guess. It’d probably be less worse than going around this place alone. Do you even know where to go around this city?”

“My.. mother - no, the previous queen,” still instinct, after this long, to call Ga’ran mother, to acknowledge her as such, “tried to kill her older sister, despite... not having the right to become queen.”
Still.. the offer is interesting - after all, it’s hardly as though Rayfa’s ever interacted with anyone even close to her age of a similar status.
She snaps back to herself, smile self-confident, as though nothing happened. “That is an agreeable deal, Ange. I will do the same for you.”
“…”
Even Ange knew when she hit a nerve. The girl’s disposition went from bad to worse… and it wasn’t like Ange was in any position to even criticize her ‘rudeness’ to begin with. She just didn’t know whether Rayfa was a spoiled, entitled kid, or someone with genuine intent to do good. It seemed, for the moment, she was the latter.
“You seem like you’ve got your heart in the right place. The woman I succeeded as head to the family… was cruel. The man before her was despicable. I refuse to allow that cycle of violence and abuse to continue. I don’t want to be a tyrant, either.”
As unfriendly as Ange was, she was trying to begin a better life. Maybe allies who understood her would be best. She and Eren seemed to be getting along just fine, so… maybe she ought to at least extend her hand.
“Tell you what, princess. As one heiress to another… let’s try and work together. If I see you start to act like a tyrant, I’ll snap you back into shape on the spot. That is a promise. Not because I like you, though. It’s because I hate abuse of power.”
