hiiii it's devin again with a preorder announcement

we are making a change to the button-up shirt

we are removing the hook & eyes

why?

they cost $2 more per garment and half of them don't work very well

one of the main complaints we've received about the shirts is they're too expensive, and sales numbers have reflected this issue. this is the only place we can cut costs without changing the fabric or structure of the garment

is there a price difference?

yes, they will be $5 cheaper

what if i preordered already?

you will be receiving an email notice from ash notifying you of this change as well as a refund of $5 per shirt ordered. if you didn't leave an email on your order you'll receive a mysterious $5 refund. mystery solved!

since the hook & eyes are all or nothing you'll also have them on the underbust and all the way up and down. the shirts are straight-cut so if they have enough tension at the bust to merit the hook & eye, they'll have no tension on the underbust and the hook & eyes will just kind of hang open

we'll release a video explaining how to add a hook & eye later. if you're unable to add your own hook & eye, a tailor will usually be cheaper than the $5 price increase the hook & eyes add, and they can add them exactly where you want them

additionally, these shirts are made out of a stretch cotton that behaves differently from our previous shirts. we've noticed gaping is less of an issue

can i cancel my preorder?

a short explanation

the factory can add hook & eyes between every button or none at all. we thought this would be chill because some folks expressed interest in hook & eyes over the belly region as well

the wear tests were ok but anywhere that didn't have tension pulling at the gap between buttons had the hook & eyes just kind of hanging out. we were supposed to get samples with smaller hook & eyes but that didn't end up happening and we were like well it's probably fine, but after some hindsight, hardcore weekend problem solving, and learning how much they increase the price by, we were like, why did we do this? so we're undoing it
