Where's Diana? {a chibiusa short fanfic}

“C’mon Diana, let’s go walk in downtown Toko!” Chibi-usa shouted with joy. She lifted Diana, her kitten, into her arms and sprinted outside happily and to the streets of downtown Osaka, Tokyo. Diana rested on top of Chibi-usa’s shoulder and purred softly into her ear. Chibi-usa giggled silently into her tiny hands.

Chibi-usa and Diana came across a children’s toy shop and Chibi-usa wanted to go in and look at all the dolls and dress-up clothes. She found a doll that looked like her dressed in Sailor Chibimoon’s outfit, her face lit up so bright she whispered to herself so no one would hear “hey look it’s me and she’s so cute” Chibi-usa didn’t buy the doll though, because if she would have, the person at the register would’ve realized her identity, and she didn’t want that.

Chibi-usa put the doll back down, turned her back and realized… Diana was gone!

“Oh no… this really bad…” Chibi-usa burst into tears and was hyperventilating. The cashier at the register walked over to her and asked, “Hi sweetie, are you okay? What happened?”

Chibi-usa slightly turned her head, her curly little pink pigtails bouncing softly against her cheekbone. She shook her head in shame.

“Me can’t tells you,” Chibi-usa replied, staring the cashier directly into the eyes with sorrow and grief in her sweet little toddler girl eyes.

“Awww, it’s okay, little one. Come here.” the cashier tried to lift Chibi-usa in her arms but Chibi-usa fought her, keeping her arms down so the cashier couldn’t pick her up.

“Me no knows you. Buh-bye.” Chibi-usa waved sweetly back to the cashier and sprinted out the door like a fast car to go find Diana.

Chibi-usa stopped by the park to have some alone time on the kid’s playground. She sat in the swing, sucking on her thumb for comfort, because she didn’t know where Diana was.

Suddenly a young adult girl walked over to where Chibi-usa was sitting in the swing.

“Hello small lady” said Setsuna, kissing Chibi-usa’s forehead then picking her up and carrying her.

“Me no mall lady Pu. Me Chibi-usa now.” Chibi-usa smiled at Setsuna.

“Awww, well you musn’t call me Pu here in the real world. When you lived in the future, that was okay, but we all have to hide our identities so the people here won’t know we are all Sailor Guardians.”

“Me know,” said Chibi-usa. Then Chibi-usa looked Setsuna in the eyes and started to sob. Setsuna held her close and hugged her.

“What’s wrong small – I mean Chibi-usa?”

“Diana go way,” Chibi-usa said through her tears.

“Okay sweetheart, I can help you find her,” said Setsuna and she toted Chibi-usa on her shoulders as they went downtown Tokyo to find Diana.

After a small while, they got tired… and hungry for that matter. Setsuna carried little Chibi-usa on her shoulders as they walked into a local pizzeria. There Setsuna happened to glance over at one of the tables inside the restaurant, and there sat Usagi – right there, holding little Diana. Mamoru was with her. Chibi-usa squirmed in Setsuna’s arms to get down and run over to her mommy and Diana.

“Mommy me hold Diana,” Chibi-usa cooed softly, then Usagi handed the toddler her kitten. Usagi lifted Chibi-usa onto her lap while Chibi-usa held Diana. She played with her daughter’s bubblegum pink piggy tails as her and Mamo talked to Setsuna.

“Well… I’m glad we found Diana and that she’s safe.” Setsuna watched her goddaughter as she babbled and petted Diana, sucking on her little thumb and smiling with cheer in her eyes, kicking her little feetsies back and forth. It melted Setsuna’s heart.
