Every article that insinuates the war in Gaza is “humane” is absolutely dogshit. I recently saw a link to a telegraph article saying this, which was an opinion piece and not based in statistical fact. There’s nothing humane about the way Israeli soldiers have treated medical personnel or the mass graves that have recently been discovered. There’s nothing humane about the destruction of hospitals or the conditions in which people in Gaza are living. There’s nothing humane about babies left or children without limbs nursing empty stomachs.

I don’t know why people need to frame this war as being less horrific than it is. I don’t know why people think describing this as a genocide is offensive. Why should the state of Israel’s actions be downplayed? Who does that benefit? It’s baffling to me that we cannot look beyond ideogical squabbles to understand the amount of devastation currently happening before our eyes.

i've been noticing how often i refer to my friends in conversations lately and it's actually making me a bit emotional. if there's one thing i could tell my younger self, who didn't have a single friend to confide in and thought that he never would, it would be that one day he'd have so many wonderful people in his life that he wouldn't even be able to go a single interaction without bringing up someone he loves at least once.

we still get immediately shoved out of our immersion in tv shows or films when The Girl find a dead body and immediately shrieks - we just don't find it realistic because we're pretty confident most people would gasp rather than shriek (i.e. sharp inhale rather than sharp exhale) and it also feels unnecessarily (and predictably) misogynistic too, as men encountering corpses almost never do the same on screen

also of course please do tell us if you've actually encountered a corpse unexpectedly, because tumblr is absolutely a place where some people have done this thing and we love a good anecdote

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
