mazikeen felt sadness, it was the most unwelcome of feelings and they looked down at the floor, " I'm sorry to hear that." they stepped around remy and moved towards the front door, " but you don't belong here, and I won't leave without you."

maze felt their anger building again, this was just some human, but they knew that remy still had a very important piece of who they used to be trapped inside them. it was part of the reason they were so special. mazikeen glared at matteo, who hung his head slightly, “ but – hell might not be open again for a long time, remy… are you going to wait for him to die of old age?”

they  seemed  to  deflate  even  if  they  knew  they  couldn’t  exactly  blame  maze  here .  they  understood  why  they  were  so  angry  and  why  remy  not  wanting  to  simply  end  matteo  would  only  further  that  anger .  “  if  i  have  to ...  “  the  demon’s  voice  trailed  off .  “  i  can’t  just  kill  him ,  maze .  i  don’t  expect  you  to  understand  but ...  at  least  trust  me . “

mazikeen frowned, glancing back at the witch once more, there was nothing but anger there, they weren’t truly able to appreciate whatever this one had done to take care of the demon. they dropped their hands, “ it’s the only way to break a bond, kill you, or kill him.” they weren’t one hundred percent confident in that, but it was the only way they knew of.

remy  took  in  a  deep  breath  before  slowly  letting  it  out .  they  didn’t  expect  mazikeen  to  see  all  that  matteo  had  done ,  at  least  not  yet .  “  i’m  not  willing  to  kill  him . “  they  weren’t  sure  they  were  ever  going  to  back  down  from  that . “  i  promised  to  protect  him .  “  they  looked  back  at  maze ,  reaching  out  to  rest  a  hand  on  their  shoulder , “  that  doesn’t  mean  i  didn’t  miss  you  or  that  i  didn’t  try  to  come  back .  i  did . plenty  of  times . “

maze blinked a couple of times, “ he’s just a witch,” they glanced back at the stranger and back to remy, “ we can get you a new one.”

remy  tilted  their  head  to  the  side , “  he  took  care  of  me  . “  they  knew  that  would  have  to  mean  something  to  mazikeen  on  some  level .  “  his  whole  family ,  actually .  is  killing  him  any  way  to  repay  him ? “

josh lifted his brows, and then glanced towards the house, before back to the demon. " oh," he breathed, straightening up, " okay?" he didn't trust it for one minute, but if it got him out of here, he was glad to accept it for face value for now. he moved towards the phone, still watching remy and lifting it up, riley had ended the call and was probably searching for him. he sent a text their way and looked back at the demon, " I'm confused."

“ it’s suspicious,” he pointed out, rolling his shoulders back as he looked down at the knives in their hands. he knew there were a lot of demons here, all the signs pointed to the town being overrun, but josh liked their odds. he straightened up and frowned, “ no, they’re – human, and not hurting anyone.”

“  yeah ,  well ,  soul  partially  intact  not  that  it’s  any  of  your  business . “  remy  straightened  up ,  following  joshua’s  line  of  sight  to  their  own  knives  before  twirling  them  in  their  hands  again  before  deciding  to  put  them  away .  “  seems  like  you  two  had  a  good  time .  good  for  them .  good  for  you  .   “  it  was  an  odd  turn  of  events  here  even  if  remy  knew  that  they  shouldn’t  trust  it .

maze bowed their heads together, holding the back of remy’s neck, “ there’s an easy fix to that,” they whispered, standing up straight but still keeping his hands on the other, “ kill him.”

they  shouldn’t  have  been  surprised  with  the  suggestion  from  mazikeen  but  maybe  they  had  hoped  it  wouldn’t  have  been  brought  up .  remy  swallowed  as  they  looked  away  from  mazikeen  but  their  eyes  were  quick  to  come  back  to  the  other  demon . “  i  can’t  kill  him ,  maze .  it  was  an  accident . “

matteo slipped out of harms way as the demons chatted amongst themselves, dread replaced relief as he watched them embrace each other. maze welcomed the hug, squeezing remy against their frame, “ I missed you,” they murmured, “ I was– worried.”

remy  held  mazikeen  close ,  almost  briefly  forgetting  about  matteo’s  presence . “  i  know ,  i’m  sorry , “  they  murmured ,  pulling  back  to  look  the  demon  over .  “  they  tried  to  send  me  back .  i  tried  to  go  back  but  i’m ...  stuck  here  indefinitely .  “

matteo slipped out of harms way as the demons chatted amongst themselves, dread replaced relief as he watched them embrace each other. maze welcomed the hug, squeezing remy against their frame, " I missed you," they murmured, " I was-- worried."

matteo’s eyes widened, not for the surprise of someone breaking into his home, but for the feeling of the power behind that person. they weren’t human. he didn’t manage much in the way of words before remy appeared, and relief flooded through him. maze’s grip only tightened when they felt the knife at their throat, resulting in a choked breath fleeing matteo’s lips, but maze soon let go when their spirits recognised one another. “ remy?” he pushed the knife from sight and turned to look back at the other, an instant smile curling the corners of their mouth.

it  took  a  moment  for  remy  to  realize  who  they  were  dealing  with  here  and  when  the  knife  was  pushed  away ,  they  didn’t  fight  it .  their  expression  seemed  to  brighten , “  maze  , “  they  breathed  out  almost  instantly  pulling  the  demon  into  an  immediate  hug . “  i  missed  you  so  much . “

levi melted into the gesture, his hands slipped up remy's back, one of them lifting to hold their jaw as their kiss deepened. it wouldn't go very far but he wanted a little taste and remy seemed open to it.

levi nodded, his tongue sweeping over his teeth, ” come here,“ they could get a drink at any point, right now he felt the need to enjoy what the good lord gave nathan from michigan. he slipped his arm around remy’s waist and pulled them closer, coaxing their mouths together.

remy  perked  a  brow  when  levi  spoke  but  it  didn’t  take  much  for  the  demon  to  put  two  and  two  together .  they  hummed  happily  against  levi’s  lips ,  a  hand  raising  to  push  their  fingers  into  his  hair .

gabe gave a small grateful smile, " you're a part of our family, remy, albeit reluctantly," he smirked, " if ya couldn't protect yourself perfectly fine, we'd do it for you too." he sighed softly at the continuation, " s'pose we always knew this would happen eventually, you'd have to leave us at some point."

gabe sighed softly, “ ya can’t let anything happen to my kid, remy. you’ve protected ‘em this long– and if we knew how to break that claim he has on ya, we would’ve done it by now.” he moved into the living room and sat down, “ they ain’t likely to listen to reason, huh?”

"  i  wouldn’t  let  anything  happen  to  either  of  your  children  , “  remy  spoke , “  i  wouldn’t  let  anything  happen  to  you .  “  remy  may  have  still  had  part  of  their  soul  but  they  never  cared  much  for  other  people  until  they  got  stuck  here .  “  probably  not .  in  hell  there  really  isn’t  much  need  for  emotion .  they  probably  noticed  i  was  gone  but  not  much  else .  being  here  though ?  they’re  going  to  be  angry . “

mazikeen left lucifer somewhat reluctantly, but the moment the man was no longer in sight, their anger fuelled them to hunting remy down. they followed a familiar scent, a familiar pull in the direction of one house. it was empty, but they were definitely here, and recently. they looked around the house and came to the alter, narrowing their eyes at the offerings placed there. maze scowled, turning and heading for the door. they paused at the doorway, turning their head to see a picture of two unfamiliar faces. they studied the picture for a moment, wondering if either of those faces was the one their demon wore. they turned when they heard the door creak open, turning to see the shocked face of a man. “ where are they?” venom laced each word and they wasted no time in closing their distance and clamping a hand around his throat. @wntrflln

remy  probably  would  have  been  back  sooner  if  it  wasn’t  for  coming  face  to  face  with  levi  but  the  demon  eventually  parted  from  the  other  with  the  idea  to  return  home  unaware  of  the  sight  they  would  see  when  they  got  there .  maybe  if  remy  had  taken  a  moment ,  they  would  have  put  two  and  two  together  on  who  exactly  was  there  but  they  seemed  to  react  before  thinking ,  unclipping  their  knife  as  they  approached ,  the  blade  pressed  against  the  neck  of  the  other  other  from  where  remy  stood  close  behind . “  let  go  . “

" it's suspicious," he pointed out, rolling his shoulders back as he looked down at the knives in their hands. he knew there were a lot of demons here, all the signs pointed to the town being overrun, but josh liked their odds. he straightened up and frowned, " no, they're -- human, and not hurting anyone."

“ you care about people?” demons lied, that much josh knew, he had never met a single demon that cares about a human life and he wasn’t going to accept it. “ do I need to explain how hunting works?” he tilted his head to the side, “ if you kill me, you don’t think there are other hunters who will come and kill someone you care about?” he laughed, “ we’re not exactly hell bent on keeping every human safe, not anymore.”

“  is  that  a  crime ? “  remy  questioned ,  unable  to  keep  the  offense  from  their  voice  as  they  looked  back  at  the  hunter . “  something  tells  me  you’ll  be  a  little  out  numbered  but  what  do  i  know ? “  remy  couldn’t  help  the  sarcasm ,  twirling  the  knives  in  their  hands .  they  looked  back  toward  the  house  almost  as  if  they  were  unsure  of  what  to  do  next .  “  you’re  not  going  to  hurt  them ? “

he chuckled, " ain't I a bit old for you?" gabe murmured, looking dakota over, " you can have whoever ya like, m'sure."

gabe tilted his head to the side, “ plenty of that,” he murmured, glancing dakota up and down and smirking as he took a sip from his drink.

dakota  rested  his  chin  in  the  palm  of  his  hand ,  lips  tipping  up  at  gabriel’s  response . “  like  with  you  or  with  anyone ? “

josh glanced up at the demon, his brows lifting as he considered his options here. playing dumb wasn’t a good idea that was for sure. he could hear riley shouting on the other end of the phone, but that didn’t matter right now. he slipped his hand into his pocket and tossed holy water onto the others face, pushing himself backwards and up, “ you could’ve let me go.”

remy  could  hear  someone  shouting  over  the  phone  but  that  wasn’t  the  distraction  that  got  the  demon  to  let  joshua  go .  the  holy  water  stung  and  the  demon  found  themself  letting  go  of  the  man ,  stumbling  back  before  eventually  turning  away  a  hand  reaching  for  their  face  as  if  it  would  do  anything  to  curb  the  pain .  remy  almost  growled  eventually  reaching  behind  themself  to  unhook  the  two  knives  they  had  brought  with  him . “  and  i  want  to  go  home .  i  guess  we’re  both  in  a  shit  situation . “

maze pouted, bowing their heads together, " you know I have to do that before we can go again, right? " they pushed themselves up, "but when I get back I want you again."

maze lifted their head, “ you mean they’re not angry?” they asked, “ they’ve been trapped here for years… how could they not be?” they realised they were asking the wrong person, “ sorry.”

lucifer  wasn’t  surprised  that  mazikeen  asked  the  questions  although ,  he  wasn’t  the  one  able  to  give  the  demon  the  answers .  “  it’s  okay , “  lucifer  hummed .  he  understood  maze’s  anger  at  having  something  taken  from  them . “  talk  to  remy .  go  from  there . “

gabe tilted his head to the side, " plenty of that," he murmured, glancing dakota up and down and smirking as he took a sip from his drink.

gabe didn’t respond, he could certainly be a gentleman when he wanted to be. “ depends, darlin’, what do you consider fun?” he leaned forward, “ there’s the usual.”

“  sex . “  dakota  let  the  word  roll  off  of  his  tongue  mostly  because  it  was  true  and  about  the  only  thing  that  the  man  had  any  time  for  when  it  came  to  bouncing  around  from  place  to  place .
