The salon is placed at the centre of the shed. The centre, which was once a place for work and water flow, becomes a place for information, gathering and interaction flows.
The skylights allow natural daylight to enter the Salon and the shed while the angled hanging mirrors support the water to reveal the shed layers (textures, materials, water canals, basins, chimneys and skylights)
The water stream uses filtered rainwater, filtered with a Helophyte filter located at the square adjacent to the shed. The water cools down the shed in the summer, while a portable electric heater is used to warm up the salon, meeting and working rooms. The wooden floor and reused furniture create a warm atmosphere in the building, while the green spaces enhance the air quality.
The curtains create an intimate space inside the shed. The salon is placed at the centre of the shed, while the small gathering room and the workspaces are adjacent to the northern and southern facade.
The hanging method is typical for a tannery. See reference images.
A leather knot is added to the curtain to gather it when the salon is not in use.
The mirrors support the water to reflect more light. The intensity of the reflected light depends on the angel of the light and thus the seasons. See sun studies.
