My final peace  Future Endowment
My exhibition is  in the form of a 3D/ installation where the polluted environment and society  is below the privileged 1%. The materials communicate this inequality as the  city and factory below is all mild steel with touches of copper all rusted  full of decay and burnt black representing this polluted and used world that  once were working and prosperous. The factory is made with using metal wire,  mild steel sheets, copper pipes and found materials like computer parts and  other forms of metal with burnt and rusted all around. The lines in the  factory and the city are also very distorted and crooked to suggest more this  idea of failed state and the fact that everything is starting to fall apart.  The hovering craft represents the privileged 1% with higher ground, elegant  lines, shiny copper which is more noble metal and the peace of paradise with  the only clean peace of nature. The fabric represents tension with in as the  world has become corrupted even the ones who holds all the power has started  to fall apart slowly as they are struggling to find resources.
Inside the  hovering craft there is a piece of nature preserved in glass vase. People  behind major companies often live in clean areas enjoying the purity of  nature. Their destructive decisions won’t affect their own living areas,  instead lower social class and minorities must endure polluted and ruined  surroundings because they don’t have possibilities or the will to move into these richer areas, “hovering crafts”

Nature visit to gather some moss and small plants. I had a thought that the best place would be forest in a moist place. Did also really good to get out and feel the fresh air and hear the forest whispering and singing to your ear.

In this time-lapse I tested the effectiveness of the shrinking dope. I am quite happy about it, even putting the fabric quite loos and not so many wires you can see how it tightens the fabric up. Just some places where there is no wire is staying not so nicely so I think it will work perfectly after I pay more attention to the detail.

During the weekend I kept working on the fabric peaces and figuring out the methods I want to use for this. I had some old peaces that had the white edges so I made some tests on them. I discovered that the ends of the fabric even after going over with the over-locker and coated with PVA  tended to come open quite easily. I tried also sawing them in place which quickly proved to be producing way too many gray hair for me as well as taking so much time. I battled with this problem for few hours and finally came up with a perfect solution. With super-glue I could make like an anchor in those places where I was putting in the wire with this method I was able to put the wire really close to the edge of the fabric so there would not be so much slack. This made me really happy as it was quite fast way to make it as well and its not showing in the end result and the rest of the looseness if there is any I can fix with the Shrinking Dope.  I also coated all the peaces with PVA and some ink to make them bit more gray and dirty looking. I was bit nervous on how it will look at the end with the copper and everything but after the peaces dried I was quite pleased about the color. I think I just need to work it further to know better and then I have some ideas on work with that for example heat.

I wanted to add some metal parts to the vessel as well because it fits well with the general aesthetics as well as to the theme. I chose this thin copper sheet that I found online. It communicates well with in my theme as copper is more noble metal than mild steel and its hovering on top in the upper class paradise. The sheet was really shiny and quite hard when I first got it. I was able to cut the stencil out quite good but the forming into a right shape proved to be quite difficult as the copper wanted to return to a original shape it had a lot of flex inside. So that made me think that I need to do something about this problem and I remembered that if I heat up the copper it will become really soft as you release the inner tensions. If you would like to make it hard again you would need to hammer it or press it with high pressure again, but its not necessary in this case. After I heated it up the copper changed the shiny surface with quite dark and more different shades and colors with more open texture. Was really pleased with this effect and after I used scouter to bring back some shine but not to much so that some of the dark shades will stay and give this old feel to it. I am really happy about the looks I was able to achieve and after heating, it was really moldable to right shapes.

Finally after making all these stencils it was time to start cutting them out in fabric and after that go over with over-locker sawing machine. The sawing machine was surprisingly familiar to use even I have not worked with fabric before this school but when you know few the rest comes easier I guess. I needed to remember in this that I need to follow the lines from the inside to make them a tight fit so that I dont face problems with lot of slack on my hands. I bought the Shrinking Dope fluid to help me on this but I still rather stretch the fabric and use less of the liquid than end up in situation that the fluid is not enough.  I am quite happy about the looks of the black string on top of the white fabric but the white is to new look so I want to do something with that to make it look older. Anyway I need to coat the fabric with pva to prevent the ends to come open to easily which happens really easy with this fabric.

Progress for the factory. On this class I decided to start filling some of the gaps and trying to bring it bit more to life by suggesting and emphasizing certain forms. Like the chimneys as well as some parts of building like shapes I also had an idea to make like cooling towers and some stuff like that to bring more industrial feel to it. And somehow these things suggest for me like nuclear things like the small chimney with circular top and bottom.  The filling took me quite a lot more time that I was expecting to get the visual effect that I had in my mind so I needed more time to work on the pipes underneath. I was able to try some compositions of those and really liked the looks of that.

Korakrit @Kiasma Finland.  I went to this exhibition in Finland during the winter and found this amazing installation by Korakrit Arunanondchai  1986 (age 32 years), Thailand. I was mesmerized by its level of detail and size. The installation had it all, sound, changing lights, flowing water. Really mystical and creepy feeling and i just wanted to keep circuling around it. It has worked as really grate inspiration not so much visually but more about the idea of this world that I want to create. I also discovered a lot of my own personal preferences what kind of Art makes me really engaged, it does not have to be super clean to give me this feeling quite the opposite I would say. This is really interesting for me its like discovering my self through other peoples makings.

I liked these McConnell studios works. I like the flow of the bottom picture it reminds me of some sort of waves. I am looking into possibilities to create waves into my work and this gives me some inspiration towards that. Yesterday i had and idea that I could suspend the whole work from the sealing the waves as well. I think with small breeze I could make it all move gently to create this effect that I want.

Project pictures. I'm quite happy of the looks of the frame. It has nice lines that for me suggests this industrial atmosphere. Looking forward how it will change after I keep working on it by filling the gaps and bringing it more together.

Interesting abandoned factories. I like the ball shape buildings specially and the way some of the plates has fallen off and there is like rusty color beneath it.

I took all the stencils out from the vessel and numbered them  for easier assemble. Now I can cut them out from fabric and sheet of copper that I got. Bit concerned about some of the shapes that have quite sharp and small edges that can I do it the over-locker to tie the ends.
