How good are you at spotting AI?
I'm doing an experiment. I've included two paragraphs: one written by ChatGPT and one by me ghostwriting. Take a guess which one is AI!
Option 1:Grilled cheese sandwiches are a go-to food for children, but can also be elevated to finer cuisine with the addition of meats or specialty cheeses. They require little culinary skill to prepare and can be made with affordable ingredients. Some drawbacks include a high amount of calories and their lack of fiber and vegetable matter. They are not suitable for people with dairy allergies.
Option 2: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are a classic, convenient meal option loved for their sweet and savory flavor combination. They’re easy to make, require no cooking, and are affordable, making them ideal for quick lunches or snacks. However, they can be high in sugar and calories, especially with overly processed ingredients. People with peanut allergies must also avoid them entirely, and the nutritional value can vary widely depending on the bread and spreads used.

Fundraiser-related information
What follows is a collection of links to various posts concerning fundraisers I've vetted. These are primarily ones for Ghazzawi families although some fundraisers for Sudani families are also listed (I'm more familiar with my own country's politics and dialect and am more capable of vetting fundraisers for Palestinians as a result).
- Not sure where to donate? Here's a guide.
- Mutual Aid Initiatives to donate to.
- Gaza Evacuation Funds verified fundraisers spreadsheet (compiled by nabulsi and yours truly, the fundraisers are verified by us and Mohammed Ayesh).
- Gaza Vetters verified fundraisers spreadsheet (we are not associated with gaza-vetters directly, but from what I know they are reliable and completely legitimate).
- Unvetted but highly likely legitimate fundraisers
- Fundraisers for general purposes and a variety of recipients (TO BE UPDATED).
- Note on certain Ghazzawi individuals' behaviours online.
Defunct / Paused indefinitely:
- Instructions on how to submit a fundraiser for Westerners. (One of the main reasons I'm no longer taking vetting requests from Westerners is because I'm currently receiving a very high volume of requests for boosts from already vetted Ghazzawiyeh people directly and I want to prioritize helping them. I cannot do that with requests from others. Please refrain from sending me requests for vetting.
Blog-related issues:
- gaza-vetters temporary hiatus latest update on the matter (original post on the hiatus matter), current status of gaza-vetters.
- About the targeted harassment campaign against Palestinians on tumblr, from August 2nd to August 7th 2024. Addressing writing-prompt-s / badjokesbyjeff and others' accusations and slander.
- Important fuck you to a lot of bloggers I will not name: On the topic of 'allies' Part 1. On the topic of 'allies' Part 2.

Update on the "first queer film" project
This is an update post to the project I've undertaken on Letterboxd to list the first queer film in every country. Below is the list with my notes and sources listed. This is a long post, so please feel free to ignore this. I just wanted it somewhere other than my own head.
Afghanistan - 2010 documentary film Dancing Boys of Afghanistan. It was funded by and ran on PBS. I doubt anything queer is going to be shown inside the country. The director is Afghani though and it was largely filmed in the country.
Albania - 2015 fiction film Sworn Virgin. Source: blog submission. A cursory search did not turn up anything earlier
Algeria - 2004 fiction film Viva Algeria. I forget the source, but it noted this as the only film with a gay character to come out of the country.
American Samoa - 2013 fiction film Seki A Oe: A Crazy Samoan Love Story. Literally the only film ever made in American Samoa. One of the main characters is fa'afafine
Andorra - 2022 fiction film Dones d'aigua. Technically a music video, but it has a fully fleshed out plot and the singer does not appear in it. It's a sweet love story involving a mermaid. (Why a mermaid is living in a lake in Andorra is beyond me, but hey, it's fantasy.) It's on YouTube.
Angola - 2019 fiction film Serpentário. I believe this film was released in Portugal, but the director grew up in Angola and much of the film was shot there.
Antigua and Barbuda - nothing yet. Caribbean films are really hard to find.
Argentina - 1980 fiction film Adiós, Roberto. At least two sources named this as the first queer Argentine film.
Armenia - 1969 fiction film The Color of Pomegranates. Source: one of this blog's followers. Thanks!
Aruba - see note re: Antigua
Australia - 1970 fiction film The Set. Source: https://queerarchives.org.au/australian-queer-archival-films/ (The Naked Bunyip, mentioned first, was released in November, whereas The Set was released in February.)
Austria - 1922 science film The Steinach Film. Source: blog submission. It *did* have a theatrical release because people are weird. I haven't found anything earlier, at least not yet.
Azerbaijan - 2014 fiction film My name is İntiqam. Source: https://queeradar.com/en/lgbtiq-in-azerbaijani-cinema/
The Bahamas - 2007 fiction short film Float. Source: dug this up for the blog a year ago. A couple sources I found then named this as the first.
Bahrain - nothing yet. They don't make very many movies in Bahrain.
Bangladesh - 2012 fiction film Common Gender. Source: Celluloid Rainbow
Barbados - 2016 short fiction film Pieta. Source: Pride Barbados' Facebook page, announcing a showing of it
Belarus - nothing yet, but I haven't looked that closely
Belgium - 1968 fiction film Monsieur Hawarden. Source: I don't remember at this point, so I'm not sure it's correct
Belize - nothing yet. Did find out there is a queer film festival held in Belize though.
Benin - nothing yet, but I haven't looked at this country specifically
Bermuda - Again, Caribbean films are hard to track down
Bhutan - 2022 fiction short film Final Hour. Source: Queer Voices Bhutan's Facebook page. They screened it at one of their meetings, so I know it exists in some capacity.
Bolivia - 2001 fiction short film Sexo. Source: literally just scrolling through every movie tagged "Bolivia" on Imdb
Bosnia and Herzegovina - 2005 fiction film Go West. Source: something I found for the blog ages ago. I would need to double check, but the timing seems about right.
Botswana - 2019 short fiction film 2064. Source: https://www.mambaonline.com/2020/03/07/donald-molosi-on-2064-botswanas-first-queer-film/. I have to say, having your first ever queer film be a sci-fi piece about climate change is pretty epic, so major kudos to Botswana.

EVERYONE(!) I’m blazing this post because at this pace we might barely hit 1,000,000 signatures—or just fall short. PLEASE reblog this post, no matter where you are from, so we can reach as many EU citizens as possible and end this horrible practice!

Documenting the Damage: 100 Harmful Policies from the First 100 Days of Trump's Second Term
The second Trump administration has had the busiest first 100 days of any US presidency in nearly a century. Since January, I've been keeping a spreadsheet documenting 900+ policy changes and political developments. I then bundled many of the most important changes into 100 topics areas and wrote a summary of each of them, providing a semi-comprehensive account of the tremendous changes to US politics which have occurred.
PDF version of the full report
Website version of the full report
Medium versions:
Introduction + Part I: Democracy and Government
Part II: Civil Rights and Liberties
Part III: Economy and Public Services
Part IV: Environment and Energy
Part V + Conclusion: Foreign Policy

I met Chu So-so when I was 17. I still remember when I first saw her. It was during a sun shower on campus. I asked her why she didn't carry an umbrella, and she said that she hadn't listened to the weather report. I was struck by her vivaciousness and openness. It felt intimate, and made me want to look at her again. But she had already disappeared, like the sun shower.

Some after "Sinners" reading material if you're interested in Black American and Indigenous History (and the immigrants who came over, too). I put in the Jones-Rogers book too so y'all won't think the 58% had no serious role in shaping the horrors of America.

Woke up, still obsessed with Sinners.
Seriously, if you ever wanted to ask/wondered:
What and why our music means so much to the Black community, the roots from the past to the present
Why it's so deeply insulting to deal with the cultural appropriation and disrespect of Black music, given the depth of that meaning
How we use language, history, and context to determine when somebody ain't kinfolk despite pretending
How you might be allowed to forget that you're white, but we aren't allowed to forget that you're white, and that frames our interactions with you
How your allyship can fall oh so uselessly flat, no matter how well intentioned you may be, if you refuse to understand your position within the game
Why what scares you as fantastical is often a living nightmare for people of color, and how that history and social context can weave a horror story that hits close to home (I have a whole lesson on that!)
And more, go watch that movie 🙏🏾

remmick and the vampires present a false dichotomy
Hogwood (the man who sold the twins the mill) and the KKK are very obviously bad, they are outright malicious bigotry, they use the n-word and plan to lynch the moore's and their community, they are so blatantly racist and hateful it's unavoidably obvious
remmick and the vampires however say that they believe in equality, say that they want to create a community, and yet remmick's goal throught the movie is to both metaphorically and literally steal sammie's ability for his own goal of reconnecting with his irish ancestors, a white man wants to harm a young and upcoming black man and use talents for his own goals without giving any regard to said black man's autonomy or agency
when sammie sings 'I lied to you' in the juke joint and calls forth the spirits from the past and future, it's a blend of cultures; west african, east asian, native american, and african american song and dance blend together across time and space to tell the stories of blues; where it takes its inspiration from, the music genres it then inspired, the complex history of black american culture and its intersections with other peoples of colour in the USA
when remmick and the vampires kill and turn the people in the juke joint, and then perform rocky road to dublin, only remmick's irish culture is on display, there is no influence from the black and asian people he has forcibly assimilated into his song, it's juxtaposition with the earlier scene is blatant, remmick is more than happy to assimilate people of colour into his 'community' of 'equals', and yet its only whiteness that is celebrated, that is normative
remmick claims that he's doing people a favour by turning them immortal, conviently ignoring that he literally has to suck the life out of them to do so, trapping their spirits on earth, he claims that he's the good guy, that the KKK were gonna come and lynch everyone at the joint in the morning anyways, conviently ignoring that he's doing the exact same thing; a white man leading a mob to kill a bunch of black people
in the final confrontation with sammie remmick repeatedly dunks him into the river, a forceful baptism. both the celtic irish and enslaved west africans had their religions suppressed and destroyed by colonialsm, had christianity forced upon them by the british empire, and in that scene we see remmick repeating that cycle, using christianity to inflict harm, and sammie reclaiming christianity, despite all the complex emotions he has arround it, as many colonised peoples have and still do, when he recites the lord's prayer
remmick and the vampires are no less racist than hogwood and the KKK, are no less predatory or evil, they're just less blantant about their bigotry, they represent the system, the normalised white supremacy that is seeped into the very foundation of culture in america, the point isnt that remmick would call any of the black characters in the movie the n-word, i dont think he would, the point is that his exploitation and desacration and inserting-himself-into-when-he-wasn't-invited of the juke joint is a microcosm of what white people have done to black american arts and culture since ever since there have been black and white people in america, and even before that
theres a reason vultures are shown early on in this movie
