Yashiro so far:

Okay so I finished Tobari, Awayuki, Yori, and Tsuyukusa routes and am finally playing Yashiro.

SPOILERS FOR YASHIRO AND OTHER ROUTES.

Anyway, we start his route off with Tsuyukusa being framed for the theft of an expensive Gadget. Tsuyukusa works as a tech/Gadget, and on a job at some rich aristocrats house, he was shown some Gadget said to be the key to the Heart of the city Itehari's engine.

He goes home, and few dats later his house is raided by the cops for stealing it. The aristocrat is certain it's Tsuyukusa because he hadn't told anyone else about the item, and showed it to him because he was a skilled tech. The guy doesn't seem to be lying either. Thing is the safe that was protecting it was also a type of Gadget, which was destroyed in the process of the theft.

MC is certain he couldn't have done it because the dude is obsessed with this sort of technology. He really loves and respects the craftsmanship.

Anyways, as we get all of this info, two things stand out to me:

Tsuyukusa says to Yashiro remember when I was batching about that old man bragging about his gadget? This means that Tsuyukusa is not, in fact, the only person who knew about the existence of the gadet — Yashiro also knew about it.

Second, when the MC is explaining why Tsuyukusa couldn't have broken the safe because he likes gadgets, it was as though Yashiro was trying to wrap his head around the concept. It's not that hard to get, but he seemed to have trouble with the idea that "you wouldn't break something you like/love"

We already know from the other routes that Yashiro is lying about being an amnesiac and is actually a spy sent in from the Ginwan, the capital of the country Tōei.

We also know that the guy who tried to kill Hinagiku, the MC at the beginning, was also the assassin that was sent in by the Ginwan to kill the Taiju in Tsuyukusa route.

So both Yashiro and Mr Assassin work for the Ginwan, but it's only in Yori route that we see any indication of them likely coordinating their actions. In the other routes, it seems like they were working under a different set of orders.

Now, back to Tsuyukusa. I'm guessing that Yashiro is the one that framed him. He knew about the Gadget, and was also lead to believe that it was the key to the Heart of Itehari, where the engine is. It may be the case that the Ginwan wants access to this, and he went ahead and stole it.

Now, it may just be happenstance that this implicated only Tsuyukusa, abd that it wasn't his intention to frame him, it was just what ended up happening. But his comments about not breaking things you like seemed like he was reflecting on his mistake - not doing a good enough job to make it really look like Tsuyukusa was the one who did it.

There's also the fact the implication that whoever committed the theft didn't realize that the Gadget was likely worthless with regards to accessing the engine of Itehari, because there's only one key which is being held by the Clan of Wisdom, not some random aristocrats home.

Also, the POV switch to Mr Assassin seems like he's pretty irritated at being ordered to do something. He hopes that whoever ordered him to do this gets "disposed of". I'm putting forth the idea that Yashiro is the one who made Mr Assassin, a fellow spy for the Ginwan, commit the theft. If this is the case, Yashiro must be ina position where he can demand that of Mr Assassin, but still not be the leader.

Also Yashiro seemed really hesitant about helping Tsuyukusa out when they were asked to.

Another thing is that the whole arrest was supposedly the actions of some low-ranking officer who jumped the gun trying to make a name for himself, and that the higher ups are actually really pissed off about this.

This seems to me as if someone like Yashiro, who is unaware of Tsuyukusa's position in the political landscape, managed to coordinate this arrest using other people who also knew nothing, ended up biting off more than he could chew when it became clear that Tsuyukusa getting framed is no laughing matter for many powerful people in Itehari.

I cant say I like him at all, but they finally brought his character and motivations to a place where I can understand that he was operating under his own warped sense of affection.

I think he's a pretty fascinating and interesting character with all that said, but yeah.... no thanks from me lmao. I get too angry to enjoy it.

I was pretty much 100% correct in all my predictions. He was full of shit regarding his little sob story, which he stole from a new novel released by a popular author.

Also I forgot to write this, but there were a bunch of murders happening, and he, the MC and his subordinate were on a sting operation outside the home of a merchant or whatever suspected to be involved. Then we conveniently see his brother Tsuwabuki go into the mansion, and a little while later they bust in to find a grisly murder with the man standing in the middle of the whole thing looking incredibly guilty.

For a second I was like shit, maybe he IS a bad guy? But I immediately was like absolutely not. He was FOR SURE framed.

The one thing I was wrong about was that I thought that it wasn't Yori that murdered all those people and framed his brother. It turns out he's 1000 times worse than I could have possibly predicted. Even with my rigid suspicion, I was still giving him the slightest bit of the benefit of the doubt because he was still a love interests, but it looks like I shouldn't have even bothered.

I have no idea how they plan to bring this around... maybe this will be the first otome I play where they just have a route where the protagonist gets fucked over and the LI doesn't even give a fuck. At least Yang was attached to Liliana in his own way at the end of his best route. Yang was just unpredictable and crazy, but Yori is straight up like some evil bond villain. It's crazy the chemistry MC has with Tsuwabuki while being stuck with Yori as her route.

Oh perfect! He also gets to say that he couldn't make a big deal put of it because it would cause trouble for his family, and that his older brother Tsuwabuki - who has thus far been shown to be nothing but somewhat awkward but kind - did nothing while Yori was getting bullied.

Okay so ~ the reason ~ Yori supposedly hates commoners I because he was bullied by commoner upperclassmen in school. He tells MC this with a sad face and sad background music, saying that he doesn't like talking about it but he can trust her.

Literally everything I've seen of this guy so far only indicates to me that he's an unsalvageable piece of shit.

Warning I WILL BE SPOILING TOBARI AND AWAYUKI ROUTES

Anyway in Tobari route when the red light district was on fire and the prostitutes were burning to death because they were trapped in brothels which are locked from the outside, he didn't guve a single fuck and didn't have Kurozuru do anything to help those people. He literally doesn't seen anyone who isn't aristocracy as even human. He's a straight up monster. To be fair, I understand that the game is trying to convey with his character that there are many others who think the way he does, but goddamn.

Even other stories like Frieren discuss the difficulty of dealing with Demons, who are man-eating monsters that only evolved to look and speak like humans in order to prey on them,and how Frieren is also a little broken if she can kill something that simply looks human without mercy. In this world, there's a significant portion of the upper class who have managed to be conditioned to not even respond in what would be instinctive horror at the violent suffering of others happening right in front if them.

Also, obviously being the villain in Awayuki's route doesn't help his image at all. Plenty of games where LIs can be the enemy in other LIs routes, so that isn't the issue. Hearing about his past in the academy, there's literally nothing that makes anything he says or does redeemable or even sympathetic.

I'm looking forward to his route because I'm curious what kind of story would make him even the slightest bit likable to the players. A lot of people seem to find his mean personality refreshing and interesting, but there's only so much you can do with "incorrigibly fucking evil". He doesn't have to be overhauled as a character, but core components of who he is has to change if I can consider him even close to the realm of someone I was to see romantically. My biggest concern is that the writers might have chosen to preserve too much of his initial character and forgoing the potential character growth as being too out of character, which I understand is a difficult balancing act.

The "human God" of Itehari. He's descended from the first "foreigner" who brought steam technology and the eternal energy that powers this floating city 300 years before. He rules Itehari from within the Forbidden area, which is the only place where a lot of greenery exists. We can't see his face.

I'd bet 100% he's got a pretty face under all that, but from what we know of him, I'm not that interested, and so—

He's the head of the political aspect of the governing body, the Ryuuei. He is known to be incredibly competent, and one of the best the "Clan of Wisdom" had produced.

Alright, since Utakata no Uchronia is finally being released and I'm gonna be picking up my reservation at Stella Worth tomorrow, let's go through the main and also side characters and talk about which ones I would totally smash

For those of you who don't know Broccoli, the company that produced Jack Jeanne, has come out with a new otome game as of 4/11.

The writing team is basically the exact same team as the one that worked on Piofiore, including the artist RiRi

I'm genuinely so hype for this game. I never ever ever reserve the special edition for a game, but I'm confident this will be a masterpiece like Piofiore. The character designs are all great, the voice actors are top notch A-listers, and they even used live 2D to animate all the sprites! Which has never been done in an otome game before.

This game also has a free trial, which let's you play through the common route, so I definitely encourage anyone who's interested and able to read Japanese to go ahead and play it.

Anyways, let's get to the main cast!

Okay first and foremost, our lovely protagonist ~ ❤️❤️

Her default name is Hinagiku, which is so darn cute!

I don't play games if I don't like the MC's design, but she passes with flying colors. I love white hair, her outfit is fantastic, and I don't find her personality grating. She's actually quite fun!

VA: Kobayashi Chiaki

He's clearly the main hero. Putting aside plot stuff and other predictions, his big thing is being quite mysterious. Though he's very friendly, due to his amnesia at the story, we know basically nothing about him. From what I could glean from the info on the site and character PVs, I'm definitely sensing self hatred and angst, and also he's much bolder than I would have expected!

VA: Okamoto Nobuhiko

So far, he's the one I'm most looking forward to. He's the face of the red light district, and is very dependable despite his age. I really adore the deep kindness that seems to underly his tough exterior, and the voice samples give me the picture of a someone who won't reach out to the MC because of his role, and what it would do to her if he were to take that chance. It doesn't matter if she wants it, it would lead to her unhappiness —

Listen I could go on. But to summarize.

Here's the thing about me. I'm always craving a specific kind of angst. I love when one party rejects the other, not because the feelings aren't mutual, but because they have to choose to live by their principles in some way. And I feel that Tobari is the most likely to scratch this itch.

He is basically the MC's personal butler/guardian. They've been by each other's sides since they were children, and he was one of the few that remained after the fire that destroyed her home and killed her parents when she was 8.

I certainly don't dislike this dynamic, but it's not necessarily my biggest thing. The notes said that the theme for his route was "attachment" or "obsession", from the both if them, which is intriguing to me because MC doesn't seem intense to me in that way, but we'll have to see!

VA: Eguchi Takuya

He's an officer in the militia Kurozuru, and is outright stated in his bio to have quite the nasty personality.

Tbh he pisses me off too much for me to make a fair assessment of him. He's perfectly physically attractive but I cant get past the urge to strangle him Homer Simpson style.

I'm looking forward to his route only insofar as I hope he gets put in his goddamn place.

VA: Matsuoka Yoshitsugu

He's a skilled craftsman and a childhood friend to the MC.

He has the biggest, fattest, most obvious crush on the MC right out the gate, and it's honestly the cutest thing ever.

I'm honestly shocked this girl hasn't noticed, he barely hides it. Bitch is cute but hella dense.i honestly feel bad for him at this point.

He's really giving me cat energy. Real meow meow catboy energy if you will. Anyway

So apparently he's Yori's older brother who also works in Kurozuru. From what I've seen of this guy, he's genuinely one of the nicest people ever, and I cannot believe he is related to Tori in any capacity. A mystery how he turned out so well-adjusted while Yori is an unapologetic dickhead. Would love to see a side story with him.

Something about me is that when I play otome I never ever play as "me", I play it as though I'm reading the MC's story where I occasionally play God and control her choices in the moment.

The biggest reason after preference (I refuse to play a game if there isn't a name + face for MC and she better be my type, too!) is that I straight up cannot relate to most of them. They are all just so kind and forgiving,and if any of these fuckers tried to pull half the shit they do on her, my stone cold bitch self would choose violence, never forgetting, never forgiving.
