Shoutout to characters that are both genuinely deeply kind and also genuinely terrifying and willing to spill buckets worth of blood to get something done. And neither of these are an act, they're just both very true.

Kind, piercing eyes
I got a new tablet! This is my very first piece on it, so I can get kinda used to it. I'll need some more time, but so far I am in love
I hope you like it!

Heavenly officials: Hua cheng is dangerous!
Xie lian: 👍🏻
Heavenly officials: He's challenged 33 gods and made them lose their godhood
Xie lian: 👍🏻 *kisses him*
Heavenly officials: He'll kill you!
Xie lian: 👍🏻 *sleeps with him*
Heavenly officials: Something is not fucking right with this guy.

“What’s the most frequent word?” asks Jessica. “Your number one.”
“The same as it’s always been at these affairs,” replies the statistician, as if everyone knew: “death.”

broke: channing tatum sucks at a french accent
woke: gambit is cajun. cajuns just sound like that man. idk what to tell you. iirc he even got “sha” right (as opposed to the french pronunciation of chère). he doesn’t sound the way his dialogue is portrayed in the comics bc in the comics they just threw in some chère’s and some non’s and called it a day. channing tatum had the accent DOWN PAT

Gambit not knowing where the fuck he came from or how he got in the void, because his movie literally doesn’t exist is one of the funniest gags in the movie for me.

I’ve seen some people complaining about Channing Tatum/his accent in Deadpool & Wolverine, and I just want to set a few things straight.
Channing has been on the docket to play Gambit since 2005, but each and every time, the character was cut from the script, he had a prior contract, or the director kept getting replaced until the project was scrapped 4 years later with the Fox/Disney merger.
He has family in Louisiana and grew up in the bayous (albeit in rural Alabama). This character has meant something to him since CHILDHOOD when it comes to representation in media.
Gambit doesn’t speak SAE (Standard American English). He’s a street urchin from Acadia/New Orleans. He grew up speaking Cajun (a mix of Southern American, Canadian French, and España Spanish grammar applied to a mostly English vocabulary) and Louisiana French (an offshoot of Canadian French from Acadians).
Every person I’ve seen online who ACTUALLY GREW UP around people who speak Cajun, Creole, and/or Louisiana French has said that his accent is SPOT ON, maybe even a little too clear.
All this to say: if you can’t understand Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine, you’re not supposed to. That’s the bit: unless you’re used to those dialects and accents, you’re shit outta luck trying to parse it out without help. Hell, even Rogue, who grew up in the South, doesn’t know what he’s saying half the time.

Building on my Xie Lian is basically bugs bunny post, more evidence of him being essentially a trickster god. Feel free to add more.
His communication array password is a prank/trick
He regularly serves food he knows will poison his Friends and Guests. Essentially serving up laxatives, if you will.
Just the fact that he is a god pretending to be his own priest honestly
Pretending he doesn't recognize Nan Feng/Fu Yao and then talking shit about them to their face
Doing the same fucking thing to Hua Cheng when he's pretending to be Lang Ying (less shit talking, but he does mess with him).
Acting all Serious like he's gonna fight LQQ and then just tripping him with Ruoye lol
The I AM GOD flying meatball incident
Dressing up as a lady bugs bunny style so he can hide.
And dressing up as both a bride and a pregnant woman to lure two different ghosts also lol
Tormenting the Venerable of Empty Words (kind of a 'I'm not trapped with you, you're trapped with me' thing)
He's the only one who can actually rile up Qi Rong
Pretending to be HC's puppet to hide among the ghosts
I just love that because he avoids fighting unless he has to, his solution is usually to dress up and lie all the time. No wonder Hua Cheng is in love he's honestly so funny.

Something that I personally appreciate in MDZS is how WWX's fear of dogs is shown and handled.
Like so many stories, irl and in fiction show dogs as totally harmless uwu beings that will only protect you and lick your face, so personally for me it's nice to see a story where it's acknowledged that some dogs can be very vicious and violent, that they can and will bite you at any provocation, and that they can be very dangerous, especially to a young child, and in the end it's completely fine if you don't like them.
And no one who truly cares for WWX tells him to just get over it either; LWJ goes out of his way to protect him from them, without or without WWX requesting it (and he never makes fun of him or ridicules him for his fear), JL too (begrudgingly but firmly) gets Fairy to leave the scene when WWX is shown to be near catatonic with fear around her.
Just something that I think personally validates my own fear of dogs.
