Their eyes can also sense changes in lights and in certain species, such as the box jellyfish their eyes are very well developed so they can see and hunt their prey
Jellyfish don't have eyes but surprisingly they can actually see with the help of light-focusing lenses. University studies show that jellyfish almost always keep it's upper lens eyes pointing towards the sky.

Jellyfish don't have brains therefore they aren't actually aware of their own existence, they're alive but they aren't conscious. Instead they have a complex system of nerves that aids survival with cellular memory. They have a basic set of neurons which allows them to sense their environment.
