Hello! Do you know someone that translating hlr paradise arc for each MLs route? I've been wanting to read the continuation of it but I've been waiting for almost a year and I still can't find any. I wanna know how the story unfold for this, and also for blood lineage arc. :")

Hi! If I remember correctly, Ran (@jokertrap-ran) has started the translation for Clarence's route for the Paradise arc. I won't put a link here since I haven't asked for permission, but you could go check out their page!

I've started the translation for Rorschach's route, but I'm not sure if anyone has started the translations for the rest of them. I have been planning to do this, but I've been quite busy with real life things at the moment so progress has been veryyyyy slow...

I'm also not aware of anyone who has done translations for the blood lineage arc. Sorry!

Note: The chapter refers to the observer outside the room as “Voice from the outside”. I have opted to call him “Observer” after his job is introduced in the main text.

Introduction to Casting Shadows (照影): [Long Long Way to Go] In a future that is not so far away, that Traveller (旅者) girl’s path has ought to cross with his.

Chapter 1: Captured (捕获)

(Sounds of footsteps)

Admiral Star stopped outside the Surveillance Room (监控室).

The room was separated from the outside by a sheet of transparent “membrane”, allowing any observers from the outside to see the inside of the room clearly.

Voice from the outside: Admiral, Sir, you seem to be interested by Sample T-3071?

Voice from the outside: This is the product of an integration between a Traveller (旅者) and a human, captured during the conquest of a certain concealed world… Its risk assessment rating (危险评级) is not low.

A girl was curled up in the corner of the room. Unlike the “dangerous sample” she was described to be, she huddled in the corner, her eyes drained of all life.

Voice from the outside: Sir, do you plan to directly contact the sample? Or…

Admiral Star: Give me a full report.

Admiral Star gave a simple efficient order, which the person outside the room carried out very quickly.

Voice from the outside: The sample has a very high sense of resistance, and strongly repels any regular forms of mental infiltration.

Voice from the outside: Preliminary assessment shows that the sample displays Type II characteristics: high mental strength, weak body…

Admiral Star recognised this girl. [MC] caused quite some trouble in Paradise.

He had already exceeded his mission requirements in Paradise at that point. In addition to obtaining his counterpart’s emotions, he had planned to capture her when she arrives.

It was a pity that Admiral Silver (白银提督) thought himself clever for trying to hide her away, which landed her in this position instead.

The observer (观察员) next to him was still carefully considering his choice of words while reporting the situation.

Observer: Carrying out a harsher form of infiltration is very likely to cause irreversible damage to the sample.

Observer: Considering the difficulty and risk in carrying out a memory wipe, it may be more appropriate to request for a change of her status to an experimental subject…

He could easily see through their thoughts, but he wasn’t interested in exposing them either. His eyes nonchalantly landed on an adjacent monitor.

Admiral Star: You. Search for Central’s (中枢) command.

As though his voice had control over the monitor, it flashed for a brief moment before a line of text promptly emerged.

No matches for your search as of now.

Observer: Central has yet to issue orders with regards to relevant further plans. Sir, if you’d like to request - 

Admiral Star: That won’t be necessary.

Admiral Star crossed the transparent boundary in the middle of the room without difficulty and approached the girl.

The sound of military boots sunk to the ground, while his mantle fell to the girl’s side.

[MC] instinctively rose her head, but immediately moved her eyes to the side, as if she was pained by the light from not interacting with the external world for too long.

Her hollow eyes were void of any reflections. Her awareness of the external world was hazy at best, reacting on nothing but mere instincts.

Admiral Star did not directly contact the girl. He just observed her current demeanour.

Apart from a straitjacket, she wore a restraint on her finger - a set of transparent rings.

Admiral Star reached out and tapped something in the air. The set of rings fell away from the girl, dropping to the ground with a clink.

Observer: Sir, please be careful. The sample is rather dangerous -

Admiral Star: I’m not that weak.

He creased his eyebrows into a frown. He was already getting tired of this inefficient conversation.

He raised his eyes to look at [MC], who was still devoid of any reaction.

It was as if she had become a crushed doll, who didn’t even notice the chance to revolt. The way her lips scarcely moved without a sound reminded him of a fish out of water.

Admiral Star: How long has it been?

Observer: How long? Do you mean… the amount of time between the successful capture of the sample and now?

Admiral Star: I mean your “sample” – has she always been like this?

Observer: Umm… no. Emergency episodes were triggered numerous times initially. More than ten people in total have been sent to the medical bay.

Observer: We had no choice but to take more restrictive measures, in addition to raising the sample’s risk assessment rating…

Admiral Star: Hmph, a very good excuse to cover up for their uselessness.

Admiral Star turned to eye him with a half-smile, to which the observer shuddered and stood straighter.

Observer: I will arrange for all inadequate parties to receive their punishment from their superiors as soon as possible…

Yet Admiral Star did not seem to care for the observer’s attitude. He merely bent over to watch the girl at eye level.

According to his memory, she would jump up as if someone had stepped on her tail in this kind of situation. But she displayed no reaction, which was extremely different from his impression of her.

After confirming the legitimacy of her state, he stood and turned around. Just when he was about to leave, he stopped in his tracks.

She was still sitting there, eyes void of anything, but her hand firmly clutched onto the hem of his mantle.

Her lips quivered -

MC: ⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛

Observer: Sir? The surveillance camera suddenly lost connection, are you alright? What just ha-

Admiral Star: Quiet.

Admiral Star yanked his mantle back without a change in his expression or tone, and issued an order.

Admiral Star: Wipe all recordings and footage from here. I’ll take care of them myself.

Admiral Star: Give me a more detailed report as well, including the earliest capture and medical records.

Observer: Understood.

Admiral Star turned and left.

Paradise Rorschach route: Guide (Chapter 3-2: Collector)

Chapter 3-2: Collector (收藏家)

I held the pot of cactus the entire time while we walked back to Rorschach’s place. I was in a very good mood from carrying this weighty plant.

Rorschach: [MC], I must remind you that while it’s great to have sympathy, sympathy won’t get you anywhere in this place.

Rorschach is telling me to be cautious. I opened my mouth to thank him –

Wait!

Not far from behind, I could hear a few muted footsteps.

MC: Shh–

I motioned for Rorschach to refrain from speaking and checked again. Yep, within ten metres around us, there were at least five people!

MC: Follow me!

I lowered my voice, grabbed Rorschach’s wrist, and quickly moved forward. The quicker I walked, the quicker the footsteps became, though they always kept a distance from us that was not too close but not too far either.

They were very careful. Fighting them head-on was not the best choice when I was uncertain about how many of them there were and what they were capable of.

Rorschach didn’t object and allowed me to pull him along the entire time – until he turned around and yearningly looked at an alley we passed by, then looked at me again.

Rorschach: We just went past it...

Looks like our destination was in that alley.

MC: Don’t look back.

MC: Rorschach, listen to me. We are being followed, and there’s more than one of them.

MC: I’m guessing it might be the people who stopped me earlier. It’s dangerous if people find out where we’re staying.

I hastily described our situation. Upon hearing my explanation, realisation dawned on Rorschach’s face.

Rorschach: If you’re talking about the people who were following us the entire time, I think they may be my bodyguards.

MC: … Why didn’t you say so earlier!

I glared at him, but Rorschach just looked at me innocently.

Rorschach: A defenseless person like me must surely adopt some safety measures when going out.

Rorschach: I’m very scared of pain!

Rorschach: So I hired these people by promising them food and an opportunity to stay in Paradise. They follow me around.

One of the conditions of his offer caught my notice: “an opportunity to stay in Paradise”.

> Choice: We can stay in Paradise as long as we follow you?

MC: You mean, we can stay in Paradise as long as we follow you?

Rorschach: I’d say you get a better chance.

MC: Can this offer be extended to me as well!

> Choice: Sounds like good pay

MC: Sounds like you pay your staff quite well

Rorschach: Of course. I’m a good boss.

MC: Any chance I can still apply now!

> Choice: I’m also qualified for the job

MC: Sounds like I’m also qualified for the job.

Rorschach looked at me with questioning eyes.

MC: What? Don’t forget, I saved you before.

Rorschach: I guess you’re not wrong.

MC: Can I get the same perks as they do then!

Rorschach: If you want me to hire you, you’ll have to fulfill your responsibility of protecting me once in a while~

Rorschach: Though I’ll give you some privelleges. If there’s something you need to do, feel free to do so. You don’t need to stay around me 24/7.

Rorschach’s generosity almost made me let my guard down.

MC: … You really can’t fight at all?

To confirm, I reached out to squeeze his shoulders that did not seem weak at all–

MC: –!!!

Almost immediately, more than ten muscular mercenaries surrounded me and pointed their weapons at me…

I didn’t dare to move in case someone decided to shoot at me.

Rorschach: Woah, no need to be this tense. Relax, relax… I permit my staff to wander their mind a little, especially when we’re in such a good mood.

Mercenaries: Yes sir!

Rorschach: Shh… Down, keep your voices down. Don’t attract those atrocious mobs.

Mercenaries: Yes sir.

There was seriousness and calmness in his eyes, but his lips were upturned in a relaxed manner. These two upper and lower parts combined to form a half-smile that seemed strangely harmless.

MC: I just realised how dangerous it is to be close to you.

Rorschach: Scared now?

MC: No. Just… do you have any food? I’m genuinely quite hungry…

Rorschach smiled, took my hand and led me a few steps towards the alley.

Standing in front of a dirty and old door, he turned sideways and gestured to me invitingly.

Rorschach: [MC], welcome.

It looked a bit shabby, but having somewhere to stay and rest was already more than I could ask for.

I calmed down a little after defeating the three of them. Here, I could protect myself as long as I was careful.

Clap, clap, clap. 

– I heard sounds of clapping under the twilight. (?)

MC: Who’s there?

I turned towards the sound’s direction in alarm. Rorschach stood in an alley in front of me with his arms crossed and watched me calmly. Upon receiving my attention, he whistled.

Rorschach: Very nice. That’s what one gets for interrupting other people’s dates. 

I stared at him in silence.

MC: When did you get here?

Rorschach: Hmm… let me think - Probably when you said “I’m on my way to meet someone”.

Rorschach: You didn’t show up. I thought you got lost.

He was here from the start but didn’t offer any help. He just stood there and enjoyed the show. While I wanted something from Rorschach, it was clear that he was also guarded towards me. Upon understanding this, I smiled.

MC: Now that I’m here, where’s the dinner you promised? I’m a little hungry after walking for the whole day.

Rorschach: I’m afraid you’ll have to wait a little longer. We need to go buy something before going home.

MC: … buy something?

I didn’t know “shopping” was a thing in Paradise.

Rorschach: Yep. Is there anything you want? I’ll buy all of them for you.

Rorschach: If you’re hungry, I’ve got sweets.

MC: Don’t treat me like a three-year-old child!

He grinned and turned to lead the way. He expertly moved through the tangled mess of alleys in the Black District. Finally, he stopped in front of a small secluded door.

– I didn’t expect an exchange centre (交易所) to lie inside the door.

The space appeared somewhat cramped, with messily arranged potteries and woven bags, bread, sweets, and medicine. Apart from these necessities, there were even some small handicrafts lying around. In Paradise where resources were lacking, this was almost the equivalent of a small supermarket!

I looked around curiously. I heard some rustling as a young man rose from a pile of sundries. This must be the owner of this exchange centre.

Exchange centre owner: You came at just the right time, Mr. Rorschach! I’ve got the item you requested, right out of the desert.

Exchange centre owner: The trip wasn’t easy, you’ve gotta pay me a good price if you’re happy with it - I reckon it’s worth at least five pieces of bread!

The owner greeted Rorschach in an overly friendly manner as if they’d known each other for a while. He stopped speaking upon noticing an unfamiliar face in the room, scanning his eyes over me. The grin on his face grew wider.

Exchange centre owner: Looks like it’s her approval we’re looking for.

Rorschach: Of course.

MC: What are you buying, Rorschach…? Does it have something to do with me?

Rorschach: Flowers. I realised we were missing floral decorations for our dinner later. Goldstein (金石) said he’s got some, so I came here as soon as I could.

After listening to Rorschach's earnest explanation, I was lost for words for a moment.

Something’s off. Really off.

Why would someone be interested in buying flowers for pure decorating purposes when surrounded by danger? Unless… he did not consider them a threat.

I noticed that Rorschach carried a pocket with him, of which Goldstein’s eyes had not left since we arrived.

Goldstein: Lovely lady, the flower I bring you is fresh and beautiful. I promise that it’ll match you perfectly!

I couldn’t help but feel a bit excited at Goldstein’s words. He rummaged through the pile of sundries, then gingerly brought out – a pot of cactus.

Rorschach’s face immediately fell.

Rorschach: This is what you meant by flowers?

I was already laughing my head off on the side. Looks like Goldstein had no idea what flowers were.

Goldstein chuckled nervously when he realised he had made a mistake.

Goldstein: Please take it anyways… I’ll take three pieces of bread instead…

Rorschach ignored Goldstein’s bargain.

Rorschach: [MC], I’ll go ask other exchange centres.

Goldstein: …Two! What about two pieces of bread! What do you think, Miss?

Goldstein immediately turned to flatter me instead when he found that Rorschach was unmoved by his offer. Goldstein simpered with his knees bent even lower than before, eyes entrained on me, almost begging. 

Upon seeing him act in this manner, I didn’t have the heart to say no. 

Moreover, I’ve always had little faith in myself to take care of a living thing, making cactus my number one pick when shopping at a bird and flower market (花鸟市场).

> Choice: I like cacti.

MC: Rorschach, I’m actually quite fond of cactuses… these kinds of tough plants are very suited to survive in this world.

> Choice: Cactuses survive longer.

MC: Rorschach, cactuses are actually quite nice… not much effort is needed to take care of them, and they can survive much longer than picked flowers.

Rorschach looked at me attentively when I spoke. Before I started feeling insecure, he pulled out two pieces of bread from his pocket and placed them in Goldstein’s hands. He then handed the pot of cactus to me.

Rorschach: Since this is for you, whatever you say goes.

Rorschach: After all, I’m also curious as to how long such a fragile little thing can survive in this deadly environment.

I understood the meaning behind his words.

I reached out and poked the little green thing. Unsurprisingly, my fingers were pricked by its spikes.

MC: Don’t worry. It’ll definitely survive for a long time.

It was already completely dark by the time Goldstein gratefully sent us out.

When someone finally tried to stop me, I found that I wasn’t as nervous as before. I relaxed my hands that were slightly sweaty from clutching them too hard, took a deep breath, and turned around.

There were three Ability-users (能力者), the leader of which looked at me eerily. Outside the Safe Period (安全时间), anyone was allowed to take other people’s abilities by force. In their eyes, I was likely an easy target for being alone.

MC: I’m on my way to meet someone. Can you let me through? I don’t want to be late.

Leader: That’s a pity. Looks like you won’t make it.

Without delay, the three of them surrounded me.

And I was ready –

The three of them looked at me appallingly. I frowned.

MC: I’m in a hurry. Can you let me through now?

They panically got up without a word. In the blink of an eye, they disappeared from my sight.

The two groups of men in front of me were waiting for me to make a decision. Evidently, I would offend both parties (Clarence or Ayn) no matter who I decide to join.

I breathed a sigh of relief at the arrival of Rorschach’s message. I checked his message on my wristband.

Rorschach: Would you like to dine with me tonight?

Even at such an anxious situation, Rorschach’s message made me feel at rest. When I raised my head from my wristband, I had already made my decision. I smiled at the two groups of men in feigned pity.

MC: Sorry everyone, my friend (同伴) is waiting for me, so I won’t stay here for long.

Leaving them went more smoothly than I thought. Ayn did not say a word, and everyone in the Battalion could only stare at me intently due to Ayn’s silence. I knew that once I walk out of here, no one will be able to guarantee my safety.

Clarence: Stay safe, [MC].

I thanked him and left.

I flashed into a corner to hide from the others’ view after walking for some distance. Only after checking that nobody was following me did I feel reassured enough to reply to Rorschach.

MC: I’m coming over now. Where are you?

Rorschach: Looks like you’ve taken care of things.

Rorschach: I’m at the innermost end of the Black District (黑街), just towards the edge of Paradise.

Rorschach: It’s a bit difficult to find, but I’m sure you’ll manage.

Rorschach: I’m going to start preparing for dinner. See you later!

I was about to continue asking where Rorschach is exactly, but he had already cut off the topic. I stared at the messages - Was it right to choose Rorschach? I wasn’t sure.. But the casualness and ease he exuded made me curious about what kind of things he knew. My instincts told me that if I want to understand the truth of this world (Paradise), Rorschach was the right person to start with. Besides, if I took his capability to combat into account, I still had a chance of winning if he becomes a threat.

It was approaching nighttime. Once it gets completely dark, the road ahead will become more difficult to navigate. I must find where Rorschach is and meet him as soon as possible.

Following Rorschach’s instructions, I left the residential district and started walking towards the edge of Paradise. Just when I was about to become lost, I noticed a few people ahead. They were not staying in their assigned houses at this time of the day, suggesting that they must have a safer destination in mind. And that… was very likely to be the “Black District” Rorschach mentioned earlier.

I decided to follow them.

At first, there were empty buildings that towered over the even terrain - perhaps it was more fitting to describe them as large-scale ruins. Stone slabs stacked together, rebars (reinforcement steel) bent into bizarre shapes, exposed pipelines…

As I walked further ahead, the road became narrower, becoming impossible to see where it ends, nor where it leads to. The district was fragmented into pieces by countless alleys.

– You’ll never know if your enemies were waiting for you at your next turn.

Such a location was one of the most dangerous places to be at. But it was also, simultaneously, one of the safest.

There were several people gathered around the alleys. I could distinctly feel their stifling and clammy gazes as I walked past them, like annoying flies. Just as I was about to start running, I felt a hand pat on my shoulder. A voice that sounded like it was scraped by metal leered creepily into my ears –

??: Little girl, are you new here? Where do you live? Need someone to lead the way?
