i love how every time sam and cas are alone in the bunker, they do dangerous experiments on sam’s body that leaves (or would leave, in the case of the gadreel grace extraction) sam dying. you’d think dean would be part of the chaos duo but no it’s cas and sam

I don’t know if this counts as an episode of “theladyofsupernatural WAY over analyzes a Sastiel scene”, because it’s more a reexamination of their current relationship as a whole, but it’s still meta, so whatever.
I rewatched the end of s14, and it occurred to me that I think most of us have been misinterpreting Castiel’s decision to not be in contact with Sam. I was watching his face when he was confronting Sam and Dean about putting Jack in the Ma'lak box, and most of his attention was focused on Sam. He generally only looked at Dean when Dean was speaking to him, but he directed most of his looks of betrayal and fury at Sam, who had a very hard time looking at him.

When he looks at Dean, he seems angry, but that’s nothing compared to the way he looks at Sam.

I think Castiel has frozen Sam out not because he thinks that being in contact with Sam means also being in contact with Dean, but because he feels betrayed by Sam. Jack was far more their son than he was Dean’s, and I believe Sam doing that hit him harder. I also think the intimacy they started sharing when Castiel stayed in Sam’s room while he was asleep(and probably in his bed given the two pillows) likely made it worse. D*stielers have been calling Castiel leaving him breaking up with Dean, but I think he broke up with Sam by leaving, not saying goodbye, and ignoring his texts. He’s essentially ghosted him.
I really hope that they work things out next episode :’(

“The character Sam is played by Jared who’s 6'5" so he looks down upon everything. Rarely does he look up, and to look up is to be vulnerable.“
