while i was re-watching peaky blinders i realized this interesting thing on season 3 finale and truly, what a wasted opportunity.

so, when tommy is going to tatiana to get the money she requests him £5,000 for the sex, which he gives her, then she tries to push it by saying "and five for helping you through the grief of losing your wife." tommy is upset by this and tells her "you didn't even come close." which granted, she wasn’t actually helping him. later, in the famous finale speech, he gives lizzie money and she immediately refuses. i suppose she thinks he is giving her money for the sex, but then he clarifies in front of everyone that no, it’s not for the sex, "lizzie, i want it known, that money was for you because some nights it was you who stopped my heart from breaking, no-one else". it was an interesting difference between the two women. the show has always made it very clear that lizzie is someone he always comes back to. before and after the war, when he lost grace, it’s never ending. if it was for physical relief he could find it anywhere (and he did, there was a time when he didn’t sleep with lizzie but would hire anyone which i thought was interesting and even pol wondered) but i think the point was to show that lizzie is able to break through him emotionally in moments when he is at the worst and don’t think tommy even realized the full capacity as to why. and what a wasted potential it was from SK not to show at least one of those encounters, it would’ve made a big difference in how the audience perceives their relationship.

I feel like if we get a tommy x lizzie scene in the movie (and dear god i hope we do) it'll be completely at the end. When tommy accomplishes whatever it is he needs to do, he'll go back to lizzie and charlie being this "changed man." He always puts off his chance at happiness because of his goals or the problems surrounding his family, so i think once he can get everything stable (relatively so) he'll find his way back to his wife and son bc i do believe at the end of the day, that's all he wants. Family.

Someone might have caught this before but Ive been thinking what if Lizzie only started her “other work” bc of the war. War makes everything expensive and in S1 it’s known she’s has family so what if she only did it to support them. Also In S1 it’s 1919 and Tommy asks does John know that she’s been servicing him for the past 2 years but the end of WW1 is 1918 S1 it’s 1919 so that’s one year. So what does that mean? Did she send x-rated letters to Tommy while he was at war😂 or an writing error?
