Man had to decompress after the craziness that went down at work today. Some dumb bunny had a high speed chase, crashed into a truck right next door, then it turned into a hostage situation then the car started on fire. As far as I know, no one lost their life but one woman had to be mercy flighted to the hospital. The hostage was released and the dude was taken into custody. It was like almost a 4 hour stand off. My reception is horrible in my building so when my parents were trying to get a hold of me to make sure I was safe, they didn’t get an answer. Talk about stressful for them! They actually jumped in their truck to come save me. Since they heard the crazy guy with the gun was headed to our building. They couldn’t get through the police line. I finally got to my phone, told them I was ok. I had to go see my parents once we were released to go home. Decompress. There had to be over 60 police vehicles there. The baby robins are getting big! I was beading over the weekend and I was able to watch the mom fly all day to get worms to feed them. Non stop job! They wake me up in the mornings. Picked up these super deeeeepp purple beads a few years ago. I have a huge stock of beads. Sometimes I don’t know when or how I’ll use a bead when I pick it up but these babies fit my current project perfectly. And they are on my absolute favorite gun metal grey velvet! So I left my fall wreath on my door all winter hahaha I was going to change in out for a spring one when I noticed a pair of house finches hanging out on it. Then I didn’t see them for a bit. One day I came home to a birds nest on the wreath. I was surprised when I seen robin eggs in the nest. I’m careful not to jostle the door too much when I go in and out. The Robin always give me the side eye when I open my curtains. It’s been a few years since I’ve been a high school language teacher. But one of my last years I had this great student, smart, funny, goal oriented, great all around kid. Well she graduated today. Her family asked my mom and me to make her collar, cuffs and Mocs to match her graduation outfit. I don’t take orders, like ever. My wait list is yearssssss long. But this young woman is strong, a role model for our community and volunteers her time when home to coach youth lacrosse when she’s not playing for her own university team. Without a doubt I knew I had to make her Mocs. These trades are off to their new home. I’ve asked @haydens_antler_creations to make me a few items over the years and I’m always blown away by his talent and creativity. I knew when we set this trade that I wanted to incorporate tufting with some old school designs. I incorporated his clan and chose colors I thought he would be able to rock when he had to gussy up for events. These happen to take longer to finish than I expected since I wasn’t able to sit long enough to work on them after I broke my back. Better late than never. Just sharing an order. Super happy with how these turned out. I knew exactly what I was doing to make for these. Tufted 3 sisters vamps, one side with white corn the other with blue corn. Moose hair embroidered mounds & growing stages. I used a dark brown velvet that’s almost black. So I’ve been slowly tearing down the old homestead. Small and big fires when we have enough wood piled. Was able to finally removed the kitchen floor today with my dad. My parents took out the windows and my cousins took down the chimney and wood floors upstairs. Saving what I can. The 2nd photo shows the beams and wooden pegs used to build the original house. The foundation is made from field stone collected by horse and buggy. Each was laid one stone at a time.
