recently i lost this sweet boy of mine. his name was duffy george and he was born on may 10 2005. he was one of i believe 8 other puppies. he is a saluki. we brought him home when he was just a few weeks old. he came from my aunts litter of puppies. salukis are typically about $3,000 but we got him free of course.

when we brought him home, i was upset. my twin sister wanted him because she had just been dumped and thought that would make it better. we already had a dog, an australian cattle dog mix named chloe who was the best dog in the entire world. duffy would growl at chloe and it would make me so upset.

quickly, duffy fell in love with chloe and followed her around all the time. he learned all her “bad” habits. like barking and begging for food. they were so cute together. chloe had to be put down about 4 years later because of cancer. i think after that, duffy changed. he was still duffy but i don’t think he was ever as happy.

duffy was incredibly smart and he knew this. he could get away with most anything. he knew exactly what you were saying and would choose to ignore you because he was duffy.

a week before he was put down, we found out he had liver cancer, and likly lung cancer. all of that on top of an irregular heart beat, heart disease and gall bladder issues.

it’s been weird losing duffy. i’m so heartbroken. we have 5 dogs, duffy, his brother obi, and 3 girls dog mixes anya, malie and piper. duffy had SUCh a big personality. you knew he was around even if he was sleeping. none of our other dogs have that. which is totally fine but now my house just feels empty with 4 dogs.
