Sirius said that Severus knows more about the curse than in the 7th year. Why doesn't he use them in the lake scene? He probably invented his spell after his humiliation on the lake. The marauders are not afraid of him, they laugh that he won’t do anything to them in return, and Sirius lies that he has been obsessed with dark art since he was 11 years old. Sirius is lying. Severus cut James' cheek with magic and that's it.

sev did use sectumsempra in swm (he put james' cheek), i think it just wasn't a crazy large gash because he knew he'd be expelled/suspended and likely way more hurt himself. i don't think sirius was lying at all, snape clearly had an obsession with the dark arts, it's just that the marauders were far too skilled for him to ever overpower them
