By looking at these 25 years old wedding pictures , we can conclude that-
1) Brides that time were mostly dressed in typical pink lengha
2) Jewellery at time was very minimalistic
3) Jai Mala used at that times were very basic made out of roses and white marigolds in contrast to which nowadays flowers like orchids are used for jai mala
4) Even the grooms at that time were not fashion oriented & so in this picture also he is wearing a plain black suit with white shirt & black tie
5) We can conclude that simple dressing was trend of that time
6)The other ladies are also seen wearing sarees in shades of blues & pinks which was the trend of that time
7) kurta blouses with lenghas was also the trend of that time which isnot that popular anymorre
8) Frocks with frills and laces were also the fashion of 90′swhich is not followed anymore

Mutwa Juti - Leather Mojari with Metal Embroidery
Research Proposal
By- Sanchita Mathur, Vini Jain, Harshit S Arora
To make an AV on the Mutwa Jutti craft from Bhuj.
AIM
To make people aware of this beautiful handcrafted leather Mojaris which are made in the region of Gujarat to benefit both the artisans as well as the society. We are going to use our AVs to generate awareness about this craft which is rarely known.
OBJECTIVES:
The objectives of the present study are as follows-
(1) Identify the production cluster of Leather Mojari of Bhuj and Classification of Leather products.
(2) It is an effort to find out the production process of Leather Mutwa Jutti crafts, the implements and raw materials used in it and technological aspects associated with these products.
(3) Study the local culture of city Bhuj and the village where it is done.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Our research for this craft was started by a suggestion given by a teacher who herself has done this craft of leather mojaris . After getting an insight about this beautiful and rare craft we started our research by going through a book which is known as bible of Indian craft that is Handmade in India. From this book we become aware of the fact that traditionally these leather mojaries were made & embellished for the purpose of dowry. After gaining more knowledge about this craft , we even browsed through websites of Ngo’s in that region like Khamir who actually supports the artisans of this craft & provide them livelihood.
Through the resources we got to know that they are traditionally made by artisans mostly using tanned leather. The uppers are made of one piece of leather or textile embroidered and embellished with brass nails, cowry shells, mirrors, bells and ceramic beads. Even the bonding from the upper to the sole is done by cotton thread that is not only eco-friendly but also enmeshes the leather fibres with great strength and some product range also uses bright and ornate threads. As it evolved through the centuries and is being produced by individual artisans, products vary in designs and colours. It encapsules cultural diversity, local ethos and ethnicity.
ABSTRACT
Handicrafts are a way of life in Kutch and what makes it so unique, colorful and therefore well visited from guests from all over the world interested in exploring crafts.
Mojari or Khussa or Saleem Shahi's is a style of handcrafted footwear produced in South Asia.
Around Bhuj there are several villages that specialize in different kind of handcrafts. These villages are home to numerous pastoral nomadic, semi-nomadic tribes. These are hope to over 30 villages that specialize in different embroidery. These villages, thanks to some grass root organizations have started to focus on embroidery / handicraft as principle source of livelihood and have begun to organise communities around this activity. Being a very rare and unknown craft, we have very few resources to refer therefore the ain of our project is to study this beautiful craft of making leather mojaries and make people more aware about the same.
METHODOLOGY
Books- The secondary research from books gave us knowledge about the different crafts being practised in India and in which regions and if they are still practice or not. We have taken our information from Handmade in India.
Websites- Through websites a lot of information can be gathered about any craft .We have used Wikipedia, Khamir, etc. to gather information about our leather craft.
For the collection of primary data:
We are conduction surveys and interviews before going to the field visit.
we will be capturing images & recording videos using DSLR . We are aiming at recording the process of making these mojaries and capturing the lives of artisans and their families living there. We are even aiming at capturing the culture of city of Bhuj using videos and pictures.
