"Grant’s Golden Mole, like all golden moles, is more closely related to elephants than true moles. Contrary to our popular perception of moles as an animal that digs permanent burrows and tunnels in the soil, this little guy instead “swims” through desert sand at or just below the surface, earning it the nickname 'dune shark.' But there’s no need to worry about your rhythm while walking; these guys cap at out at about 3.5 in, so their diet is limited to bugs and small reptiles. Fun fact: they do have eyeballs, they’re just covered up by skin and probably vestigial at this point."
