Radioapple timeloop au where Alastor quickly succumbs to the wound after the fight with Adam and wakes up the morning of the day Lucifer first comes to the hotel.

At first he thinks nothing of it. He figures out its a time travel sorta thing and he just takes the new opportunity for what it is, he does mostly everything the same way but prepares better for the final battle... only to get killed again. And wake up on the same morning when Lucifer first comes in.

By the fourth time, he starts changing things besides his preparation for the confrontation with Adam. He tries giving Charlie the information on killing angels earlier, nothing. He tries going after Adam. Nothing. He tries escaping before the battle. He loses consciousness and wakes up on that same wretched day again.

By the tenth time he's tried telling Charlie that he's on a timeloop. He resets before she can look at him like he's gone crazy. Telling anyone else gives the same result. He's tried not making a deal with her, giving the information for free. Changes nothing. He's even tried returning Husk's soul to him. He keeps resetting, either from Adam's attack or for arbitrarily fucking something else up.

Until he figures out it's got to do something with Lucifer. He's the only one he hasnt tried outright telling about the timeloop and there must be a reason he's waking up the morning they first meet, after all.

He tries treating him less harshly. Nope. He tries ignoring him altogether. Still no. He even tries his hand at flirting and has an inexplicably good time during that one, getting the king of hell crushing on him and coming to the hotel more often just to see him, they even go on a few dates but still, Alastor perishes at the end and resets.

Desperately, he tries just telling him. The moment Lucifer lets Charlie go from the hug Alastor is on him, pushing him to the wall and demanding his help to get him out of this nightmare.

And this time, he doesnt reset immediately after.

Lucifer agrees to help, half amused from disbelief, half interested. But when they go to tell anyone else, Alastor. Fucking. Resets.

Here are the facts: Alastor needs to get something done to survive and continue with his life. Lucifer is the key. Lucifer is the only one who can know about the timeloop.

Every time, reset after reset, Lucifer agrees to help. Alastor tries talking to him first instead of immediately blurting it out, it helps. But they can never figure out what will get him out of it and by the time of the final battle, Lucifer can't be there from the beginning to help. And Alastor dies again.

Lucifer never remembers anything. Every reset, everytime Alastor asks for his help, whether its the moment he crosses the door or after weeks of developing a friendship. But he always helps. Always does his best to come up with solutions. He offers them up with enthusiam, he gives Alastor magical items that do nothing to change the outcome.

By the time Alastor's lost count of how many times he's repeated the same four months, he decides to just have fun with it. He's starts admitting to himself that he enjoys the King's company, and continues befriending him on every loop. Nothing ever changes, and Lucifer never remembers, but Alastor thinks he's gotten to know this man better than anyone else in hell.

He always gets a new story. A new piece of the puzzle that is the King of Hell. And finally's got to admit to himself he's fallen for the man. He spends the next several loops raging about it, tearing out his hair and landing himself at the reset day earlier again and again.

He's given up trying to do anything differently by the one thousandth loop or so, but he can't get himself to act the way he first did towards Lucifer when the man comes in and hugs his daughter tight and asks with palpable disdain who Alastor is.

Alastor gives it his fucking all. He flirts, he takes him out on dates, he enjoys every single second he has until Lucifer needs to leave because the chains from Heaven wont permit him to fight unless the angels break their side of the deal first and then Alastor will reset and Lucifer will forget him again. He doesnt tell him about the timeloop this time, he doesnt want to ruin their moments with false hopes, rejecting the man's ideas because they already didnt work.

When Lucifer says goodbye the morning of the battle, Alastor can't take it anymore and kisses him right there in front of everyone.

Despite the dates, the late nights, the flirting, they hadn't yet kissed. Not enough time, it never felt like the right moment. But Alastor is tired and he needs to taste Lucifer's lips before the man's memories reset back to when they are nothing but strangers.

Lucifer kisses him back and when they part he promises to come the next day after the battle and Alastor fakes a smile, knowing there wont be a next day.

...

But he survives.

For the first time in who the fuck knows how many, he wakes up somewhere other than his bed. He's in the middle of the rubble at his radio tower where he'd escaped the moment Adam sent the blast to him and somehow, he's alive.

His chest hurts like he'd been impaled but he feels fine. There's nothing on it, just the pain and an inexplicable shortness of breath.

By the time he's managed to recover enough to make his way back, the hotel is undergoing construction and everyone greets him quite enthusiastically, Charlie even hugs him but he only has eyes for Lucifer, who's perched on a pillar like a bird, wings spread, snapping his fingers to bring construction material into existence.

Lucifer flies down to hug him, happy that he's alive as well and Alastor breaks down, hugging him as tight as he can, kissing him again and again like he can't believe he's there and he remembers him. Lucifer just laughs, finding his drama amusing and Alastor can't find it in himself to give a shit.

Days pass. Their relationship grows. Alastor develops terrible insomnia from the fear of falling asleep and waking up again at the first day of the timeloop.

It's on a particularly bad night that Lucifer finally gets him to talk about it.

The moment he suggests telling anyone else, Alastor panics and tells him about everytime he did tell anyone but Lucifer. Lucifer promises to keep it to himself and just helps him fall asleep.
