Despite the Breach having been closed a few months ago, Skyhold was still quite the bustling sight. While there lacked the immediate danger of world destruction, there was still much to be done in the wake of such a world wide event for both soldiers and bureaucrats alike.
“It is amazing what you have been able to build, what you have accomplished. Ferelden’s debt to you is one well earned.”

@herotainted from this ask
“Yeah, beautiful, of course.” Adala cleaned the blood from her blade, passing a glance at the dragon’s corpse only feet away from the two of them. “Hard to appreciate it’s beauty when it’s busy breathing fire at us and trying to roast us alive. Good fight though. Maybe next time we won’t stumble accidentally into a high dragon’s nest, hm?”
A soft hum of agreement is given in reply, Kestrele’s eyes still entranced on the creature and the magnificent crimson plates of that adorned it. She moved closer to its body and, with the tip of a dagger, pried one of the scales off before quickly turning back to her companion.
“I suppose imminent danger does put a damper on admiring nature’s wonders. It didn’t hurt you, did it?”

Brown eyes scrutinize ever moment of the other, having not quite made up her mind of if she believed such an extravagant claim, or not, and instead settles for searching the other’s face for a tell. In finding no obvious ones, her face sets in an agreeable neutral.
“That is quite the feat, color me impressed. Although I am intrigued by how exactly you got into such an esteemed position.”

A soft hum is given by Kestrele, finger tips pressing to her lip in supposed thought. As much as she hated asking for the help of others, it was not a feat she could undertake alone. However, the true nature of the mission would quickly send most people to the hills.
“I would prefer to keep things on a need to know basis. If you’re agreeing to help with the job there’s certainly more I’d be willing to share.”

shysweet-hellhound:

She hated being this far north. She’d lived in the snow for years now, and she still hated even temperate days like this. Give her the desert and humidity any day, the oppressive heat of her homeland. Bundled up in a threadbare rag, stolen off a merchant’s cart days ago, she huddled against a building to keep from the breeze cutting through town. “Whichever creator thought up snow ought to be castrated,” she hissed, deep voice rasping like gravel against stone.
The frosty air bit harshly at every bit of exposed skin, leaving her checks a flushed pink hue and her fingers close to numb. While the cold had never bothered her much before, after a week of ruthless travel it seemed to seep all the energy and life out of her body: forcing her to conjure up quick flames, despite how dangerously low her mana had fallen, to keep her from practically freezing solid.
Upon reaching the small town, her first chance to finally rest, a strangers remark sent a soft smile across her face (despite how her exhausted muscles protested). “I’m inclined to agree with you. What sort of sadist imagines up something not only cold but cold and wet?”

“Your confidence? I wasn’t talking about you-” Eyes alight, Revan barely managed to keep her laughter at bay, smile teasing the corner of her lips. “I meant myself. I was described as arrogant by some passer-by simply because I expressed belief that we would succeed in our endeavors… But truly, such is the way for those like us.”
A look of surprise immediately crosses her face, clearly taken aback by the others words. There had seldom been a time where her abilities, blood based or not, had been taken seriously and she’d gotten so used to justifying herself that it simply was a force of habit. A faint smile begins to pull at her face as she chuckles.
“A shame really. I pity those who underestimate us.”

“With all due respect Inquisitor, I am hard pressed to call my self-confidence arrogance. You will not find many others willing nor able to do what I am capable of. While I’m well aware of the controversy of it, rest assured that I would be only an asset to your team.”

irsalladin:

Thus far, Revan had ignored the wine and other provided drinks, savoring a single glass of water over the last hour. The last thing the Inquisition needed was for the truest of her colors to shine through the filter of inhibition, regardless of how much she wished to partake…
“What shall I do, put on a show for them?” She scoffed lightly; met the eyes of a noble across the room and nodded, the smallest smile dancing upon her lips. “They already believe me to be some kind of sideshow. For now, I should be everything they do not expect: poise, articulate, and charming. Feel free to tell me if I fail, of course…”
“Perhaps, after all I’ve heard elves are all the rage in Orlais.” Her lips curled in a small smirk, amused at first but quickly shifting into a look of disdain as far too young servant girl wanders past. In but a moment, her face is a neutral facade as she continues in hushed tones.
“Nothing quite hurts a nobleman pride like being upstaged. Play their little game if they must but they’ve already made up their minds about you. The most damning thing you can do is succeed.”

“Easy for you to say.” Revan looked to her companion with the false smile, pretending she didn’t notice the stares; the numerous eyes on her every move… “They’re paying attention to me, not you. You’re just another pretty face. I’m the pretty face that might change the world…”
Only a soft hum is given in response, a fine glass of wine raised to her lips. The contents of the cup were soft pink in color and surprisingly sweet, as though the grapes had been thoroughly saturated with honey.
“Then give them something worth paying attention to. Don’t allow them the slightest morsel of satisfaction in seeing you fail.”
