Look, Binghe's whole thing is that he's the genius protagonist who can always put the pieces together, of course he already knows that his Shizun and Shen Jiu are different people. He had five years to meticulously examine his spiritual pathways and literally pick Mu Qingfang and Qiu Haitang's brains, he has enough information to reach that conclusion.
By the Holy Mausoleum arc, he clearly sees that Shen Qingqiu has knowledge beyond what a human cultivator should be capable of, and by the end of the Bing-mei vs Bing-Ge extra, he knows where Shizun got that knowledge.
It's not a huge stretch to deduce that Bing-Ge is the man Shizun was running from in Jin Lan; a violent conqueror with a harem full of every woman his well-meaning teacher has ever tried to encourage him to romance. Once Shen Qingqiu confirms that he's met Bingge before, that inference would be all but confirmed. even without any knowledge of the system, he has gotten like 85% of the story straight.
The remaining non-system percent that he's still misunderstanding is that, due to Bing-Ge implying that they'd slept together, he probably assumes Shizun's past life was one of Bing-Ge's neglected wives. Whoops!

Shizun binghe soft courting shen yuan and getting frustrated that he doesn’t notice, and getting jealous when others give him courting gifts and SY accepts them also not realizing the intention and gives the wrong idea to the other person is something I dream about.
Okay hot take (and this is just my opinion!) but I think people often mistake shen yuans own kindness as ineptitude with romance... like you have to understand that shen yuan is CONSTANTLY risking his life and helping other people and he never expects anything back.
Take the mausoleum scene where shen yuan cries, for example
Tumblr media
At this point shen yuan has been chased down by two heavenly demons, had to carry a feverish binghe to safety, had to confront the old Palace Master and left bloody and on the verge of passing out... and when binghe yelled at him instead of saying thanks, shen yuan just replied with "are you better now? That's good." and walked away.
Like.. he's so absurdly kind and he doesn't expect anything in return. He never expected binghe to spare his life when he took without a cure, and he never expected to see zhuzhi Lang again after giving him the mushroom.
So it makes sense that when someone does something nice for him, shen yuan doesn't see it as courting. Because he as a person doesn't do things for people to earn their favour, he does nice things because he's a nice person.. to him, the idea of "someone buttering me up because they want something from me" is inconceivable because he'd never do something like that himself
TLDR:
Some guy: I risked my life to get you this courting present!
Shen Yuan: Okay? I risk my life to make people happy every other day and I don't even do it to court them.

Bingge vs Bingmei but it's a fucked up prince & the pauper style situation.
Su Bingge is the son of Su Xiyan and Tianlang Jun, the emperor of the demonic realms, the tyrant with a harem of hundreds of women and countless enemies.
Luo Binghe is the son of a human washerwoman and an unnamed demon who took a passing fancy to her, who has spent his life struggling to make ends meet and barely escaping death at the hands of anyone who recognizes the signs of his demonic heritage.
Luo Binghe is also a dead ringer for Su Bingge. There are some differences -- Luo Binghe has fluffy, curly hair while Su Bingge's locks are pin-straight. Luo Binghe has a somewhat boxier build, while Su Bingge is slender. Luo Binghe's skin tans in the sunlight while Su Bingge remains eerily pale no matter the elements. But the differences aren't all that noticeable to anyone who isn't looking very closely and can be easily taken care of with wardrobe & styling, and their faces are identical.
The only true issue is that Luo Binghe can't fake a heavenly demon's cultivation, his demonic ancestry is pretty high level but not heavenly demon level. Luckily a rare magical item helps with that. All Su Bingge has to do is infuse it with his blood & qi, and if Luo Binghe does the same and wears it as an amulet, it at least gives Luo Binghe's qi the appearance of Su Bingge's.
So when Luo Binghe is captured and brought to the palace, Su Bingge decides to keep him as a potentially useful body double. This could be really handy for uncovering threats or misleading enemies. The only issue is that Luo Binghe must be trained to conduct himself convincingly as Su Bingge, needs to raise his cultivation level to adequately mimic some of Su Bingge's abilities (or even hold his sword), and also cannot be allowed free access to Bingge's harem (for obvious reasons).
Enter Shen Yuan, a demonic cultivator, historian, cultural expert, and monster enthusiast who is somewhat notorious for his encyclopedic knowledge of Su Bingge's life and character. He's written a couple books on the subject. To keep up appearances, Shen Yuan is brought into the harem under the guise of a new wife, and more or less secluded with Luo Binghe to train him up. This way, if anyone catches them it will simply seem as though Su Bingge is spending time with his latest wife, while also providing Luo Binghe with training, oversight, and someone to help cover for him if he is approached unexpectedly. Luckily Shen Yuan is petite enough that just dressing him as a particularly modest woman works out.
Despite some mortification over the logistics, Shen Yuan takes his job seriously -- at first as a loyal subject of the emperor, but then because he soon realizes that sweet & hardworking Luo Binghe stands very high odds of dying if things go even slightly wrong. Honestly, the poor kid has high odds of dying even if he learns to perfectly imitate the emperor! This is not a safe situation! Shen Yuan himself doesn't have the greatest prospects either -- this is the type of court secret that needs to be kept at all costs, and once Shen Yuan's finished training Luo Binghe, the most logical thing to do would be to permanently ensure his silence.
He knows this story probably ends with him dying on the emperor's command.
But what else can he do, except try his best to loyally accomplish the task given, provide Luo Binghe with all the tools and training possible to survive, and cross his fingers? He's loyal! He would never talk and endanger his student or his emperor by spilling their secrets!
Luo Binghe doesn't think much of the emperor with the same face as him. If anything, he thinks he might despise that man. But this new life of his, in his quiet corner of the palace with Shen Yuan, is maybe the happiest he's ever been. If he could he would block out the world beyond forever, and just live peacefully with Shen Yuan and their lessons and studies, learning to cultivate and cooking meals for just the two of them.
Su Bingge watches in secret as this teacher with the same surname as his own heartless tutor (long dead by his own hand, now) dotes and fusses over his double, and begins to harbor sentiments that are difficult to put a name to.

The more Luo Binghe looked, the more shocked he became. Practically no place on Shen Qingqiu's body was safe to look at. He was nothing but a heap of wounds and blood, truly a spectacle too horrible to behold. Luo Binghe remembered that before he had lost consciousness, Shen Qingqiu had clearly been in perfect condition. His voice trembled. "This...was all for...me?"
Shen Qingqiu was going to spit blood. If not for Luo Binghe then who?
He couldn't say that sort of thing. He always felt awkward making a big deal about what he'd done for someone else or showing off his scars, and he only managed to wrench out four words: "Your hand - let go."
Chapter 16: Melting Ice
Supporting evidence that Shen Qingqiu really can't face how much he's worth to other people; he can't even admit that he nearly destroyed his body to protect Luo Binghe while he was unconscious.

HOW TO FIND THE TGCF AND MDZS AUDIOBOOKS: 🎧
TGCF is here 🦋
MDZS is here 🐇
These are recordings of the EN novels published by Seven Seas, plus included extras.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PLEASE share the link around with anyone and everyone who may enjoy!! ♥️ You have full permission! (The only thing you cannot do is host the audio files publicly.)
About 300 hours worth of work went into the TGCF audiobook during the 4 months it took to record it. That amounts to 2.5 hours per day, and I worked every. single. day.
Projecting MDZS to be about 130 hours in total, maybe a few more?
These totals do NOT include listening back to each chapter to check for mistakes/edits -
(I work that in during my regular day job haha)
This project is my heartfelt gift to those who need a little more accessibility to enjoy such lovely stories. Everyone deserves the joy of the Hualian and Wangxian experience! I am truly lucky to have the opportunity to make and share this with you all. ♥️♥️ CHEERS!! xx

the whole sequence where Wenren È goes to capture Zhongli Qian is so fucking funny, but I have such a special place in my heart for Zhongli Qian immediately clocking that Wenren È 1) lets Yin Hanjiang do absolutely anything he wants, and 2) would let Shu Yanyan be devoured by wild beasts in an instant if she wasn't extremely useful to him (read: the only person he knows who understands a goddamn thing about poetry or having conversations). and then Zhongli Qian arrives at Xuanyuan Sect only to see that it's apparently exclusively staffed by hot men who are mincing around cleaning and tidying?? he's a smart guy but he doesn't have any way of knowing that these are all Shu Yanyan's subordinates who are being punished for her treachery. what's he supposed to think, that Wenren È isn't somehow isn’t the gayest man alive???
