Burn It

An iolite to blame for this, Her own soldier, betrayed her, Across the planet, I would burn, I would burn it, burn it.

@llamagoddessofficial guess whose back back again back once more with a thing.  ∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿ purple i was singing in my head as a sort of slowish but upbeat tune, this one tho? azure was slamming the staccato & cord options in my brain to make a chunky broken sounding tune that trailed off miserably at the end.

Deal With It Personally

You asked for this, more then anything, But you play all day, and sing a song, Acting like nothing is wrong.

Distracting Black, Calling Red, They both do their jobs personally. Making gems and holding laws, Crushing gems whilst making plans.

Soooo do you think you could imagine song titles and their meaning (in the purple diamond au)? Everytime I see it, I can't help but imagine a song named "I'll deal with it personally". (Maybe you could some kind of evolution ? Like how steven's first song was "cookie cat" and now "Here we are in the future".)

Oooohhhh! Yes, definitely. Mc’s starting song is something like “I love to feel loved by you” and since you don’t know what happened, you think she just Likes her Friends. But as time goes on and you learn more, and it reprises in the background during a mysterious flashback scene with Purple Diamond, you realise the song is aimed more at the Diamonds- talking about how she wants to feel loved, how lonely she was when she as neglected, and what drove her to abandon Homeworld for Earth for her friends.

Azure’s song is “deal with it personally”. You hear a few key chords and lines at any moment he’s thinking about/feeling guilty about Purple, only hearing the full song during a flashback where he angrily sings it to her in what is pretty much their last full conversation.

Red’s is something like “burn it”. It’s how he feels about everything now- burn the planets, burn the rebellion, burn the memories of her with the constant angry fire in his chest. Burn everything, leave nothing behind, always be alive and angry and move forward. You’ll see a little scene where he quietly and emotionally questions himself and asks a very confused Pearl if he could’ve done something to save Purple- if he’d talked to her and known more about the rebellion, would he have stopped them? If he’d voiced his concerns when they agreed to give her a colony, would she still be here? The reprise is emotional and he talks about how ‘the burning always hurts inside, but i have to keep the flames alive’- you clearly see how much his anger is unhealthy and he’s constantly in borderline physical pain.

Black’s is “where have you been?”. It’s really soft, almost like a lullaby… you don’t see him in full until Mc sees him again after her lie is discovered. In all the flashbacks, songs and Homeworld scenes you don’t see more than his hand. In the meeting after all those years he picks her up and cuddles her like nothing’s changed and just asks if she had fun and calls her silly for not visiting him for so long. Once she convinces him to face reality “where have you been?” becomes less of a cutesy catch-up and more of a confused ‘why did you leave’-esq song.
