i’ve been debating whether to answer this as i’m not sure if it classifies as “spoilers” lmao. but yes, annabeth liked him, too. it’s part of why luke was so jealous when they were kids - he wouldn’t have been so much if he thought percy’s crush was never going to lead anywhere

If Annabeth Chase and Amy Santiago met, how do you think they would get along?

that’s interesting! i don’t know. i think they’d be friendly but like,,, they wouldn’t be best friends or anything. there’s a bit of an age gap and i think annabeth is probably a bit too intimidating for amy. annabeth might admire amy’s position as a woman in the nypd, they would say hi to each other, maybe roll their eyes at percy and jake together, but thats kinda it. rosa probably really likes annabeth. i’d say it’s more likely that percy and jake would get along better! actually, annabeth would probably like jake a lot on account of his similarities to percy.

i wouldn’t say luke made annabeth stop hanging out with the others, necessarily. luke was friends with everybody else, too, and percy and luke were notably really good friends as well. i think he just grew very insecure regarding percy-and-annabeth, and that translated into hostility towards him as they got older. they all drifted apart for their own reasons, annabeth and percy included, but yes, luke probably was guilty of nudging annabeth away from percy slightly.

How did you get into writing?

ooh this is an interesting question, for which i have a... very boring answer lmao. i don’t really remember! i was obsessed with reading as a kid (not so much anymore rip) and i used to write lil diaries and made up stories and everything. english was always my favourite subject and baby me was good at spelling/reading etc etc so i guess the next natural step from reading was,,, writing ?? idk if this makes ANY sense lmao but there you have it!!

lmao no i just totally forgot!! honestly it’s not a super important detail. they just kinda... called it off. luke is going through a rough patch (which is obviously still no excuse for mistreating annabeth) and they just decided to take a break. more luke/annabeth info is forthcoming in the next chapters though

they got together the summer after seventh grade so i’d say about 3-4 years now?? but they’re a very on/off couple, they didn’t date consistently throughout those years, and like mentioned, luke’s dated other people in their breaks

thank you!! i know percy’s fatal flaw is loyalty but i think it’s so easy to forget how loyal annabeth is, too. and i really did love the annabeth/luke/thalia connection in the books (not their dynamic in this fic, but definitely canon-wise)

Wait so Annabeth was waiting for the beach trip to have sex with Luke? That's why it was so important to them before they broke up?

i dont think they were necessarily planning for the beach trip, but it probably just occurred to them that sex was something that might happen. idk in my head i just saw it as one of those High School Things in which an event seems like so much more important than it actually is ... if that makes any sense at all

honestly? i considered it but probably not. it’s an important story line and i don’t want it to just be trivialized in fic, if that makes sense?

not that hard! i don’t really give a lot of thought to titles tbh, they normally just come from whatever song i’m listening to at the current moment

is thalia away at college/out of high school or is she still in high school?

i think i mentioned in the first chapter (?) that thalia is the same age as the others, but she dropped out of school at sixteen to pursue other things - feel free to correct me if i’m wrong though! idk why but i personally don’t see thalia as the type of person who would go away to college

Will we get an insight on why Annabeth didn’t even tell Percy about the away trip? Or is it solely because she really didn’t think they’d still be pretending?

it’s not really mentioned again in this chapter, but i can tell you that annabeth didn’t tell percy about the trip because planning for it several weeks in advance implied that they would still be together, and she was scared of what that implication might mean

thank you! it's intriguing to me too tbh, it's been a lot of fun writing in her pov. it's also been quite challenging because i'm just so used to writing with percy - for some reason i find writing percy just naturally comes to me as opposed to annabeth. fun fact, i originally tried writing this fic all from annabeth's pov, but all the drafts just turned out... so wrong. it's part of the reason why this chapter in particular has taken so long, i think. but we'll get there!

that is so sweet!! honestly sometimes i have to do the same thing in order to keep the characters coherent (if that makes sense??) and it gets extremely exhausting to reread your own work. but i’m glad you’re enjoying it! hopefully by the time you’re finished the latest chapter will be ready to be released

Thalia’s blue eyes were even more piercing than they usually were.

“You and Jackson,” she said.

Annabeth shrugged. “Me and Jackson,” she agreed. “Have I surprised you yet?”
