Serendipity;
Serendipity;
Your spring had just began
And my summer was about to end
You bloomed along with the cool breeze
And I shined along with the blue sea
It’s 1,600 miles apart
But you and I somehow met that night
A thought crossed my mind
I wonder, is this another ill-fated life?
Weeks passed by
You started to fill my well with your flowers
In return, I filled yours with my gems
You too started to shine
And I too, started to bloom
You were just like a mirror
Stranger yet familiar
A thought crossed my mind
I wonder, is this another ill-fated life?
As I hug the starless night
With this restless body could might
Longing to be a twilight
Instead of a chaotic mind
There you came,
Wrapping me around with the sound of your voice
Turning my thoughts into a morning sea
As I drift off to sleep
I whisper, let this be serendipity.

Recuérdame
Someone told me before that for him one of the greatest gift a human could ever receive was — a memory. The ability to remember a certain person, a thing, a taste, a smell, a dream, and a feeling.
Then it suddenly hit me.
Aren’t we doing all this effort just to be recognized? To leave a mark on earth? To be remembered? Somehow a way to know that you had been part of something. That you really existed.
For me to be forgotten was a choice and it’s inevitable.
In my early 20’s I met that “someone”. I fell in love quickly than I could ever remember that I thought it was surreal. He was different, he was something new, we had this perfect balance of similarities and differences, and I love everything about him except one thing. He chooses to forget.
One summer night he told me, that he could easily forget about things, memories, and feelings. That he had this bad attitude of completely ignoring all of his exes.
I got scared. Scared of knowing that someday I could be part of his cemetery of forgotten people. And I knew from that very moment the only thing that I wanted is to be buried in his heart instead, to be chosen to be remembered by him. I wanted to leave a good memory of us. I wanted to imbed a part of me into his life. I wanted to steal a small piece of his heart and there the memory of us will be kept.
If it happens that things end between us by the time you found this, do you still remember me my old love? Or did I dig up my own grave alone?
I’m still hoping you’ll say — “recuerdo”.

“It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much… The life we receive is not short but we make it so; we are not ill provided but use what we have wastefully.”

“The will of nature may be learned from those things in which we don’t distinguish from each other. For example, when our neighbor’s boy breaks a cup, or the like, we are presently ready to say, ‘These things will happen.’ Be assured, then, that when your own cup likewise is broken, you ought to be affected just as when another’s cup was broken. Apply this in like manner to greater things.”
— Epictetus, The Enchiridion

Today, I think we educate kids to be settled in the comfortable chair. You have your job, you have your little car, you have a place to sleep, and the dreams are dead. You don’t grow on a secure path.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

I don’t believe in love at first sight. Love is not found, love is built by two persons each and everyday.
